Great for hardcore fans, fascinating to newcomers

This is a really great game if your very good at it.If your new , it should take awhile to the hang of it.First off, I think the graphics are amazing. It is highly detailed and polished.I have a p4,2.53g,512mb,and a Ge force fx 128mb video card. The reason it probaly runs slow is because, you need a better video card or a new proccesor. The gameplay is smooth and easy to understand. It has more options and and info,so you can handle your city better. The new region mode is good also. You can connect multiple cites and share reasources among them. You can even create the entire region into one huge metropolis. The god mode is good too.You can sculp and shape the landscape any way you want. You can set animals and disasters. The game also has more freedom to make a infinite amount of different cites and landscapes. To make a good city is hard to do.You have to handle the budget first. With a good budget you can succesfully create a good city. The manual is okay ,but I wanted more info.Anoter great thing is the music. It is very smooth and relaxing. One bad thing is the regions do not have many cities in them. There is not any city that is really big or deveolped. One surprising thing is the game has two cds for even more city making. The bad thing is the 2nd disc is like the first one, nothing brand new.Overall you need a powerful computer to make it work. The graphics, gameplay, and music are great. The modes are good. The only bad thing is the short manual and the somewhat empty regions. As the title says it is great for hardcore fans and fascinating for newcomers

I loved the Simcity series, but they need to change it

I enjoyed the Simcity games and felt ripped off with Simcity 3000 as it was basically the same package as the previous Simcity. If you love the basic city building concepts of the Simcity games, Simcity 4 is the exact same thing. At least they changed the graphics for this one and gave it an updated look for today's video cards but if you look at screenshots for Simcity 4 you'll see that it has the same rules, building types, etc. If you'd like to play Simcity again with an updated graphics engine, go for this title, but if you've been "simcitied out," save your money and buy another title. Sims anything sells like hotcakes and EA realizes this. It's another attempt to cash in on the Sim name.

This game is so good. I love it. The amount of options is great. The graphica are very detailed. No one can beat this game. All I can say is that it is much better than the sims.

After looking at all these screenshots this game looks 1 million times better than SimCity 3000. You have a new terrain carving tool which alows you to sculpt cliffs, hills, gorges and valleys. You have fog, night and day, volcanoes, floods, mudslides, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires, snow and different building types, A 1850's Chicago style, A 1950 New York style and a 2000 Houston style. From the looks of it it looks great!!

I highly think that you get this one if you never played a Simcity game at all.

I think this is a great game, as long as you know where to find some good cheats to help you get some money. but beides money trouble, this game is excellent just as long as you find the topic fun

Sim City 4 is a lot of fun and has fixed many of the problems with previous sim city games like the ability to build on hills, and the opportunity to create a much larger community by linking cities. The buildings and graphics are also much better. There are tons of more buildings and awards in sim city 4. The only down side is the game speed. Even at the fastest game speed it becomes very iritating at how slow it takes even when your city is small.

To much...

The graphics are stunning and the detail and more options are really nice. One problem, you may spend hours even days building the perfect city, and still it will decay and they'll kick you out (when u reach -100,000 dollars) not to mention that you'll have great health, low crime, low fire rates, high education, low pollution, and many other things that sims like, you'll still lose. Please if your a simcity fan wait tell the next simcity game. please?

To find out what the game is about read the Amazon.com review above. I am just opining as a seasoned player here.

I have been playing SimCity since it first came out. Each evolution has made significant advances in both look and performance, and this version is no exception to that. I appreciate the level of detail, the complexity of the simulation engine, and the overall performance of the game. The problem lies in the pre-release hype that was inaccurate or at least highly misleading.

Maxis / Electronic Arts promised much during the months leading up to the (delayed) release of this game. They promised increased control over traffic (such as timing lights at consecutive intersections - to be released in their expansion pack, SimCity4: Rush Hour). I will not list all of the items that were touted before release here, but suffice to say that it seems the game was not ready for release. A significant case in point was the patch that was released about a month after the game shipped.

I have a fast machine, so I have not had the problems of hanging and freezing that others have had. Having read of many other gamers who HAVE had many problems with performance tells me that we should not expect to have any more expansion packs for SimCity 4. In my opinion, the good folks at Maxis / EA need to redesign the graphics programming so that it performs better with more modest machines.

If you've got an older version, save your money.

I've played most of the Sim games, and find them all equally addictiive. Sim City 4 is no departure from the addiction, but unfortunately it was a waste of money. It's basically a graphics upgrade from 3000 and I would have been just as satisfied with the graphics in 2000. The game crashes constantly. You'd think by now I'd learn to save my game, but it usually crashes after I've played a couple hours after forgetting to save... There's no patch yet, and the word on the forums is that the mysim feature, which allows you to import a sim... is what causes the instability. If they can't support a feature, they should hold out on releasing the game. It's very difficult to run a city without running into the negative. I'd love to be able to build freely without using a cheat code to get more simoleans.
