I really do love these games, Neversoft always outdoes themselves, and this one is no exception.

The gameplay itself hasn't changed much, however the game feels different. Its slicker, smoother, and faster than before. Definetly showing off the PS2 power in the other areas besides graphics. The new revert trick is fun, if not feeling a bit out of the way to do, however it does pay off.

The graphics are very smooth, slick, if not a bit bland at times (Canda's vert area, Skater Island). It is still easy on the eyes nonetheless.

The downers are that the music isint for everyone. I am grateful for the Rammones being on there, but still some of the other rock/rap music just gets annoying. And some of the levels are smaller than the massive School or Venice Beach from THPS2, however they do grow on you. The create a park is also a bit harder to use than before.

It is still a fabulous game with endless replayability. If your new to the games, Id start with this one, then go to my personal favorite, THPS2.

the best hawk game I ever played!!

tony hawk 3 is very cool, the graphics are great, the gameplay is better than the first 2 hawks. The levels are biggers and more challenging.(here's a code enter the options menu and enter cheats then enter backdoor in upper or lower case to get almost all the codes). You can play the game in the network but I haven't tested it yet.If you are a skateboarder you should buy this game, but even if you are not a skateboarder you should still buy this game.

Probably the Best in the Series

I hate skaetboarding. But I love the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series. That's the beauty of these games. You don't need to be a fan of the sport to get hooked on them. And I can almost guarantee that you WILL get hooked on them.
The best part of the this series has always been the simple control. It will take you minutes to learn, but you'll spend forever mastering it. Once you have the buttons properly laid out in your mind, scoring huge combos will begin to become second-nature.
The single-player game is awesome, about as good as Tony Hawk 2, but with the Revert move you can link vert tricks as well as grinds. There are some more flatland tricks as well. The objectives are imaginative and funny, the graphics are impressive, but far from the best you'll see on the system, and the soundtrack is outstanding.
Play with a friend and the two of you will have a very hard time stopping. The two-player mode is flawless, (except for very brief, very rare slowdown). All of the two-player modes return from previous Hawk titles, including trick attack, HORSE, and my favorite, graffiti.
The game has almost infinite replay value, as you can create your own skater to use in all of the game's modes, and, better still, create your own skatepark and save it to your memory card to play in on any future occasion.
Pure gaming brilliance.

The epitome of great action sports gaming!

I have had this game for over a year now, and I think this (along with Vice City) is the top of the heap for PS2 games. Okay, THPS4 (which I also own) is very good too, and has touched up on some things, but for some reason, Tony Hawk 3 will always be my favorite. (Maybe just for the Los Angeles level...)

Everyone has at least heard of this series. And most people own it. The main purpose of the game is to start off small (whether you use one of the 14 pros available, or if you're like me and you have to create your very own skater), and to complete several objectives and open up different levels in order to become a full-fledged pro. You also have to hunt down stat points and extra boards. (Well, you don't HAVE to, but it's recommended.) You can do just about every trick imaginable: spins, reverts, manuals, grinds, etc. If you're using a created skater, than by the end of the game, you can add 10 different special tricks (out of a very large selection). I have spent many an hour playing this game over the past year, and I never get sick of it.

The most fun thing I can think of for this game is creating your very own skater. Creating yourself, your neighbor, friend, co-worker, even your enemy (so you can beat up on them in 2-Player)... it never gets tiresome. With many logos for T-Shirts and many boards (all of which are real brands!), making your own shirt is lots of fun. Blue Zero shirt? Go right ahead. Black Neversoft? Yup. Maroon Nokia? You have at it.

The levels are large and interactive, too. My personal favorite is Los Angeles. I went to LA about one year ago and I must say, it looks just like it. (Right down to the Walk of Fame.)

Overall, even if this were still [the original price], I would still recommend it. But since it's [cheaper], because of the Greatest Hit title, well, what are you waiting for?

GREAT!

This game is very good! I would recomend it to anybody. It makes you actually see what its like to be GOOD a skateboarder. I would definitely be surprised if someone gave it away. In this game, you learn new tricks and do crazy things you would never dare to do in real life! Of corse, its not the BEST game, but it really is good! If your looking for things that you never see in real life, get this game! Its worth every penny. I would stongly recomend it to anyone. Hey! I don't even like skateboarding!

Make A New Game

All I have to say to Activision is: MAKE A NEW GAME. This is no different than the first or second one, with the exception of new levels, which are basically the same as the last two game's levels. And there's online play. Well big deal. It's not like too many people go online with their Ps2 anyways. I don't see how they keep getting away with re-releasing the same game with a different number at the end of the title. Would it be too hard to just grasp a new concept. And I'm not talking about Shaun Palmer's Pro Snowboarder. Activision needs to use that little creative portion of their brain. So I will leave you at where i began with: MAKE A NEW GAME.

BUY THIS GAME!!

If you're a skateboarding fan you are going to LOVE Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3. This game is not so difficult that you lose interest, but challenging enough to get you hooked. Skaters to choose from include of course Tony Hawk, and also other stars including Rodney Mullen, Bucky Lasek, Bam Margera (from MTV Jackass for all you fans out there) and Elissa Steamer (proving that skateboarding is a sport just as much for girls as it is for boys). In the game you have the option of starting a skateboarding career, in which you progress through the levels acheiving as many of the goals as possible (all goals if you are to be a true pro) collecting stat points to increase your ability, and new decks personal to your skater along the way. Levels include three competitions which involve three one minute runs in a competition against the other skaters to get the highest score, and the highest medal possible. Other levels include Los Angeles, in which you get to start an earthquake to create all new terrain for tricks to get the highest scores possible, Canada, in which one of the tasks is to do sufficient tricks to impress the Canadian skaters, and the Airport level, in which this great space full of rails, ramps and jumps can be used to flip, grap, spin and grind your way to the highest score possible. Also on the PS2 version of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3, there is the option of lessons with Tony Hawk himself. When this option is selected, you can choose from different kinds of technique which Tony talks you through, and you are then given the opportunity to practice.

If you don't fancy the professional lifestyle, you can create your own skater, right down to the clothing, which is personal to you. Not good enough? You can also create your own park using rails, ramps, objects in any position you like to get the most out of your skater.

Trust me, this game is fantastic, definitely my favourite for the PS2. It will keep you entertained for hours. Truly addictive.

Not your typical skateboarding game...

Let me start off by saying that I HATE skateboarding, biking, snowboarding, skiing, and all other extreme sports games. They're repetitive, boring, and get old very quickly. Imagine my surprise, then, when at a friend's house, I actually truly enjoyed playing this game.

Other reviewers have talked about how cool the levels are and how smoothe the gameplay is, but I'd like to talk about a feature that not a lot of people have mentioned: the custom skater feature. You can create your own skater, customize his or her appearance, and set your ability levels for six or seven different categories. The coolest part, though, is that the different skin shades, body types, and articles of clothing, allows you to create a skater that really LOOKS LIKE YOU!! Why would I want to play as Tony Hawk or anybody else, when I can watch myself on the screen catching major air and landing McTwists?

Definitely a worthy game to buy (or at least to bum off of your friend! :)

hotties or not?

tony hawk's pro skater 3 is much better than the first two in almost every way bigger courses, better graphics, updated map editor and create-a-skater which now allows you to create your very own super sexy chick (yes!) just exactly how you want her
THPS3 also includes the all new revert which allows you to continue a combo from one vert ramp to another all these features together create an excellent experience that is definitly worth its price. One more thing though if you for some wierd reason don't like blood in video games steer clear of this it has splashing blood that smears around realistically, but its not over the top or close to as bad as an M rated game.
