Nothing compares to the 1st, how can it compare to the 2nd?

For everyone who has played the original THPS, you would know how it feels like. All the cool levels, the awsome skaters, your rockin' replays! Well, hold your excitement 'cause the 2nd one came out just a few weeks ago!
Of course, the 2nd can do what the 1st one can. (Duh!) But now, since it's more "advanced", it has 3 more characters including the originals, a Create-Your-Own Skater program, more extraordinary levels, and a program where you can make your own skatepark!
So don't believe all that jibberish people's saying about THPS. Wierd game, bad graphics, dumb controls, blah, blah, blah. Just get the game & try it for yourself! It's a must-buy even for people who don't skateboard, so you better get your's now!
Believe the hype!

Many people have already sung the praise of Tony Hawk 2, but I felt I must also join the chorus. First of all, let me say that eight months ago I did not imagine myself enjoying a skating game. After I played Tony Hawk's Pro Skater that changed. That game dominated every moment of my life not dedicated to sleeping or working for a month. When THPS 2 came out, I actually found myself at the store waiting for the truck to arrive with the first shipment. Tony Hawk 2 exceeded the first game in excellence as much as the first of May exceeds the last of January for several reasons. I don't mean this as a knock on the first game. I just mean that the Good Folk (tm) of Neversoft improved on an already excellant idea that much! First of all career mode is much more involved. After that you still have a HUGE gap list to overcome, and now a brief tangent on the soundtrack. Tony Hawk 1 had a soundtrack consisting of songs I really liked, esp. from Dead Kennedys and Primus. THPS 2 not only has great punk/thrash songs from the likes of Anthrax with Public Enemy and Bad Religion, it also introduced me to some great hip hop/rap songs from Dub Pistols and Alley Life featuring Black Planet.
Then there's the skate park editor. If the Good Folk at Neversoft (tm) just released THPS again with the skate park editor attached it would still be worth the money. Skating your way through 8 new levels plus 2 hidden levels is cool and all, (especially when you can model your skater after yourself or someone you know) but being able to build your own skatepark complete with your own gaps is infinitely cooler.
Short version: This is an excellant game. It is easily worth whatever you pay for it.

I thout this game was cool but I didn't like how "Ezy" it was to bust big trikes/pionts.On Tony-H #number 1 my top score was 124,000 but on Tony-H #number 2 it was 298,000 "on the first 1-min medal park".But the game is still nice and I like how the levals are harder.I also think that it was a nice tuch on being aball to make your won skater to play on the game. I give it two board up.
This is a review of the REAL THPS2, not the DEMO.

This is a damn good game. If you've played the demo, with only one course, and two skaters, the regular game is almost exactly the same. It's been slowed down a bit, as the Demo is lightning fast. Now flying into a wall or stationary object at full speed will cause you to wreck, which is good.
The parks are sick, I mean sick. Huge. You can do such insane tricks now it's not funny. For those used to the demo, the tricks and overall game play are a bit slower, and you can't just get your special up, and then bust 900 grab tricks. I've gotten a couple players with high stats, but still have been unable to get the high level tricks that I had previously been able to do on the Demo. This is the only disappointment with the game. I'm sure I just don't have the right button combos or something else though.
I love the game already and I've only played perhaps 4-5 hours of it.
Highly recommended to those who have the demo and love it.
excellent follow up

Best sequel to a game ever! If you like THPS you will love number 2! Controls are easy to pick up and play but there are now more tricks, more modes and many more objectives in the game to keep you busy for some time. The park edit mode is easy to use and you can build some really rad parks when you get that all togeather. There is also a bonus demo on the disk that rocks too. A definate must have.....you WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!

This is obviously the best skateboarding game ever. Being a skateboarder myself, I have itched for many years to have a video game like this. I have spent hours upon hours playing Skate or Die on my friend's Nintendo, wishing for a better update. Well, it cannot get much better than THPS2. All of the good aspects of this game have pretty much been discussed, but I have to talk about how real this game really is. A nollie kickflip actually looks like a nollie-flip. Basically, if you can imagine the trick you want to do, if you can get your fingers to do the right stuff, you can do that trick. Amazing. Kudos to neversoft for making such a completely enjoyable game. Especially when I can play as Eric Koston, on boards that I have owned myself!
Better than the first.....and I thought that wasnt possible!

This is the greatest game in the history of man. I started playing the first one this summer when I borrowed it from a friend, and I fell in love with it. However, I didnt buy it because I had already mastered it, and thought that I would wait for the new one. I finally got it yesterday, and I am already hooked! This is even better than the first one! It has so much more to do, and has better courses. If there is only one thing about this game that is not better than the first one, it is the music. I mean, I like Papa Roach, Anthrax and all of the bands on this game, but the music just doesnt go with the skateboarding. My suggestion: buy some Goldfinger, Dead Kennedys, and Suicide Machines and play them in place of the music. Other than the music though, this is the greatest game ever!
A dang good video game

This game is amazin'. You can do anythin' from makin' a skater, creatin' your own skate park, to makin' your own button combos to do certain tricks
The new levels are fun, but the objectives can really get complicated and difficult. Luckily, you don't need to beat every objective to unlock the next level
If you really ain't be wanting this game, please go to a brain surgeon near you. Or maybe don't bother playing video games anymore.
This game is so good, it's chicken soup for the soul(with high-altitude tricks included).
Better than the first one, and that was PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
