Very good value especially with ... at least ... less than at stores. The character creation is great since you can do anything with it such as tattoos, pants, whether short or long, normal ripped or bunched up, height, hair, hats or bandanas, shoes, faces, and more too including tricks that you know which is really good. Accually buying tricks instead of just figuring them out. And the full pipe level is cool and also the cool secret characters like Spiderman. If you played the first one you'll die when you get the second one. Great buy for all types of gamers.
Twice as good as the original.

This game is a huge improvement over the original with new levels, new tricks, new characters and new features. Now you can make your own custom skater and skate park. The only things missing are secret areas in levels in multiplayer. If you have the original, I recommend buying the sequel, because it is twice as good as the original.
More of everything...

What can I say? If you've enjoyed the first one then you'll easily enjoy this version of THPS.
The worlds you skate in, the skaters themselves, the tricks, the movement, and the skater - environment interaction HAVE ALL GOTTEN BETTER!
For those few people who have not seen either THPS 1 or 2 in action, then you've missed out on something spectacular. Some of my friends who don't like the "skateboarding culture" have enjoyed playing THPS. They comment on how smooth and interactive the game is. Anyone (of any age) can pick it up, and immediately start to perform some of the basic tricks. After a short amount of time (say 10 minutes) most people's confidence have built up to the stage where they're trying different combinations of the larger tricks, and trying to skate to (or on) different areas.
I can't wait for the 3rd installment!
this game is cool

That's why I like this game, I can't stand on a Skateboard without falling down, I'd probably fall watching someone skate at a live event. But I'm a big fan of the X-Games and the Gravity Games and think this game is perfect for those without balance or a high threshold of pain.
Invest in a Dexdrive. Gameshark.com has loads of Parks to be downloaded and it'll help you out with that game you just can't beat.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is not the best game I've played but it's one of the best games I've played. The gameplay is perfect and I like the create skater mode. You can choose any color and type of shirt, hat, pants, shoes, socks etc. I also like the park editor, there's no other game that I know of that has a park editor(except for Matt Hoffman's Pro BMX). It's pretty cool, you can places half pipes, grind rails, tables, and lots of other stuff wherever you want. There's also different camera views and you can rotate the peices. The career mode is pretty cool but its hard, if you're good at skateboarding games then you shouldn't have any problems.
Fun but Short

One of my friends let me borrow a disk from a magazine that had a demo of this game on it. I was immediately addicted. I went out and bought it within a week. At first, I will admit, it was more than a little challenging. I had a hard time getting the "sick" score (75,000) on the first level in career mode. But by the time I got to the fourth level, I was able to easily get 25,000 points with a single jump ( doing a "nollie", a grab trick and two kick tricks while spinning 720 degrees). Fortunately, the "sick" score raises with each level, but even in the 7th and second to last level, I only had to do 10 different combos to easily rack up enough points to be considered "sick". The hard part was actually finding everything. For example in the first level one of the objectives is to find 5 pilot wing in two minutes. Once you find them they are easily grabbed with time to spare. After you beat all 8 of the normal levels with one character, the only way to advance is to beat the exact same levels with the exact same objectives with different characters. By the third or fourth time through it gets to be incredibly simple. With each time you complete all 8 levels comes a new cheat or character. When all of the levels are completed with all of the characters, two new levels that have no objectives are open for your skating pleasure. My point, basically, is that there needs to be more to this game. I would have much rather had fewer characters and more levels. There needs to be less repetion and more variety. But other than that... The first, second, and maybe even the third time through those same tired levels it was tons of fun and highly addictive. If it had twice as many levels with half as many skaters it would easily be a 6 star game in my opinion.
Another reason for this game not being a 5 star game is a rather annoying bug. Imagine this. You are racking up more points than you have ever gotten. You're on the seventh level (Philly) and you finished everything in the level except getting the sick score (250,000). You actually have 240,000 points with 30 seconds left to spare on the clock. You could easily get those last 10,000 points with a trick or two, then just kinda goof around for the last 20 seconds or so. But then you fall and your guy just kinda floats on his belly instead of getting up. He stays that way until your time runs out. Unfortunately, it happens(on every level), and it happens enough that there is no way that it was missed in pre-release testing. You may play the game for 24 hours non-stop without seeing, but I can almost promise that you will eventually see it. It may seem like a small thing to complain about but does seem like the people at Activision or Neversoft should care enough about quality to fix things like that before release.
Better Then Before

This game is awsome. If you liked the first one you will like this ten times better. In tony hawk number two you can create your own parks and your own players. This game is enjoyable for all ages.
