I have never played the other Pokemon games before. That being said, since I cannot compare it to R/B/Y and G/S/C, this game is FANTASTIC. Beautiful graphics, a simple but effective story line, good music, and cute (but sometimes not so cute) Pokemon all add up to a great time. The Pokemon Contests add another goal to the game. The fact that you can't trade back to the others doesn't really bother me, because nobody else I know likes Pokemon :).
A good game and a good entry into the world of Pokémon

Pokémon: A world where people take in animals with extraordinary powers, sometimes battling them for enjoyment. Despite the obvious moral problems, the series is a rich game, full of (subtle) math and, with this new installment, plot. Although not as challenging as its predecessors, Ruby is an excellent game, beatable and yet possessing its own unique challenges. There are several paths to be beaten in the game-contests, Pokédex completion, the battle tower, the gym circuit; several objectives for completion, allowing worlds of replay value... however, its incompatibility with the previous games is a downside, as is the absence of many different Pokémon. Also, the new berry system is bothersome. The character-based plot of this, however, certainly makes up for the flaws-Ruby and Sapphire have villains who are only misguided, rivals who have character, and a supporting cast with distinct personalities. Those new to the series should definitely begin with Ruby or Sapphire.
THE BEST GAME EVER!!!

This RPG game is the best. It beats every RPG Game there is including the aother pokemon games. I HIGLY Recomend this game for any RPG GAMER. When I got for my birthday, I thought that it would [be bad] but when I played it, I couldn't leave it. Even though there's no 2 Regions like in Gold, Silver, and Crystsl on one the Honnen Region but belive me with the weather effect and the graphics, and all new pokemon, (ESPECAILLY IN BATTLE)nothing beats this game. WHAT ARE YOU WAITHING FOR? GO AND BUY IT RIGHT NOW!

Hmm, well I gotta say that Pokemon Ruby is a fine successor in the Pokemon line. The transfer from Silver/Gold to Ruby/Sapphire is like going from one planet to another. The tag team matches and new abilities are an incredible idea. Kudos, to the Nintendo people for coming up with another gem in this line. My only problem with this game was that they tried to add too many new features to the game. Some of the additions are great, but I think they should have saved somthing for a sequel. Well still, good game guys. Search us out. -/The Review Gods\-
A little note on completing the pokedex...

Alright people, you are not arguing about this game because it has the same repeating Storyline as before, you're not arguing about this game because you can't go to Johto or Kanot (God knows they will make a game where you can)... you are arguing over this game because you cannot complete the pokedex in the Ruby/Sapphire version without sharking your game. It's obvious you CAN complete the Pokedex since Nintendo made sprites (Pixelized figures) of all the old pokemon you can't catch that have the same graphical quality as any Ruby/Sapphire sprite. Thing is, how do we get them? Sharking your game is obviously not the ONLY way to get them. I don't think Nintendo is encouraging you to use some game enhancement device like a Gameshark to get the old pokemon. Maybe you can trade with the older versions if you put the older version in a GBA, because as you all know... old games work with GBAs as well. This is of course since there is no GBA to GBC/GBP/GB link cable. Thing is, I tried that... the only pokemon I had on my team in the Ruby version was a lvl. 5 geodude with tackle and harden, which obviously the old games would recognize. There is also some thing called the "National Dex", which enables you to see the entries of all 386 pokemon. Maybe you have to unlock that to trade with the old games. Thing is, I have it, because I sharked my game but I still wasn't able to. Maybe you can only trade with the old games on the japanese version? WHO KNOWS! I'd like to find out. Overall, Nintendo is not encouraging you to cheat unless you can only get all the old ones through trading with a japanese cartridge, which I hope is not true. Hope you found this helpful.

this pokemon game is like no other. It is the best graphic game for gameboy ever ( Thats what I think). The only down fall is that you can only have 200 pokemon insted of 354 (including new Deoxys and jirachi). I think everyone with a game boy advance should get this game. you can become a boy or girl, 2 on 2 battle, aero or mach bike, and the new pokemon are the best.

The Newest edition to the Pokemon games for gameboy advance is most definitly the best. These games have great graphics including new images such as footprints in the sand, reflection in the water, new battle sequences, weather, etc. They also have over 170 new pokemon including Torchic, Treeko, Mudkip, Kyrogue, Groudon, and many, many more. These new Pokemon games for gameboy advance definitly aren't one to miss.
My friend has it, and i played it for 2 H and it was AWSOME!

135 new pokemon, a hole new region(but you can't go to Jhoto or Kanto). Boy or girl like Crystal version. LOTS of berrys and beter names for them. New multi-player things, 2v2 battles. MUCH BETER graphics than old virsons, 2 bikes(I LOVE this), and FINALY, you can run(i love this also)! I've played(and beat) blue, red, yellow, silver, gold, AND crystal versions, and this and sapphire are by far the best.
Really good, but not flawless

Okay, bottom line fun game but still ya can't go back to Kanto or Johto, and no, there are actually less pokemon than in the gold and silver versions.there are about 200 and that is waaaay below that 330 that other guy said. nice but still I kinda miss the older pokemon, they cut out just about ALL of the old pokemon, I have nothing against the new guys, but still... I really miss Charizard... oh well still fun with better graphics to boot, I can't wait for this... to get a Pokemon stadium...
