No matter how hard I try, I can't play RCT2 more than 15 minutes before switching back to the original RCT and its' expansion games. If I didn't know better, I would have thought this was a pre-version of the original RCT. Despite having a PC with well beyond the system requirements, RCT2 is slow to load and save games, the graphics quality doesn't look as good as the original, and overall, there's no major new features- more like modifications, and I've encountered a couple of bugs. It's really disappointing that a this game doesn't stand up to it's 4-year old predecessor which I still love to play.
For all Roller Coaster Fans!!!

The game seem to have a few annoying bugs. Impossible or very difficult to build paths to rides that are raised. Buildings appear in one location but when view is rotated they appear in another making them unreachable.
No patches available so up on the shelf it went. Pity seemed like fun.

overall, i think roller coaster tycoon 2 was afwul.First of all, you didn't have senarios such as forest fronters wich were easy and you could build a park just like you want and you could win whatever you did. Also if you wach a guest he/she will think"i think someone is waching me"and leave the park.however,i did like the new rides.

Chris? How could you do this to us? You abandoned Hasbro for this? Three beginners courses? Confusing tools? Well, I guess you did good on the coaster designer and scenario designer, but this is ridiculous. Anyone reading this article, please, buy Roller Coaster Tycoon 1 and the expansions before you buy this! This game is basiccly just an expansion!
Great game....but...

I LOVE both RCT 1 and 2, but I am so sick of playing for objectives. There should be different versions because sometimes I just want to build a park. I want to build a park without financial restriction and objective restriction. There should be two modes: fun mode and tycoon mode. It would be sooo much better. I don't really care about the tycoon part. I'm just sick of building a park and then it gets shut down, and I have no guests, but I have this amazing park. Two modes would be SO MUCH BETTER!
Don't bother

Nothing really new. The First one was better. Just new items thats it. The same sounds from the original. And yes if that freakin kid still whines from the first one. Wait for the 3rd version to come out! Save your money!
The only thing cool is the new 6 flags rollercoasters. Gets old quickly
Hours of entertainment!

Upon first glance, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 may look exactly like the wildly popular first installment. But look below the surface and you'll see that several things have changed for the better.
In Roller Coaster Tycoon games, the player creates amusement parks from the ground up, and manages it. You can select pre-built coasters, or build one yourself from scratch. And there's not just roller coasters, there's food and drink kiosks, and several other rides ranging from gentle to white knuckle terror. You decide how much to charge your guests, and it's up to you to hire employees, manage finances, and keep your guests happy and the park running smoothly.
RCT 2 now lets you costomize your game to the extreme. Before beginning play you can select the size of your park and how much land you own (the big cavaet here is that the game forces you to fill in all the land you wish to own, which takes a long time, you can't just select all of the available land), which rides and shops are available to use in your scenario and which ones, if any, will be created by your research and development team throughout the game, how much money you have to spend on your park (and you can have a FORTUNE if you so desire), how much money you can borrow from the bank at a time, the climate, and what scenery will be available to you, ranging from creepy to fantasy, space to winter wonderland, roman to old frontier. It's great.
My biggest gripe with the game is that the guests are still rather stupid. Just watch them in a big hedge maze. And people holding their crotches and complaining stroll right past the restrooms. And you need about 100 food shops to keep them happy, because if you only have a few, they won't find them, even with a map.
They're also unrealistic in the fact that 98% of the coasters I build, NOBODY will ride because they're all too scared. Is this realistic? Now, I personally HATE roller coasters and thrill rides in real life. Seriously, the most traumatic experience of my life was riding Space Mountain at Disney World when I was 5. I almost vomited when I rode one of those "scrambled eggs" rides. I don't claim to be a thrill seeker, but I know perfectly well that I could build ANY roller coaster and some people would ride it. Heck, if people in real life enjoy riding the likes of The Tower Of Terror, Pittfall, and Power Tower, and even jumping out of airplanes, I don't think there's any coaster they're going to turn down. And these people in the game are almost as cowardly as I am. Unrealistic.
You should also know that game adds several rides to the mix, and you can now choose to make them play various forms of music. The number of added coasters is staggering, and some of them are replicas of Six Flags rides. You can even manage a pre-built replica of a Six Flags park, such as Six Flags Over Texas and Six Flags Holland!
Overall, RCT2 is an improvement over the first. I can't say I've tried the third installment. There are also some fantastic tracks that you can download from websites for free. COASTER-net has TONS, and they even have exact replicas of coasters like Millennium Force, Shivering Timbers, Batman The Ride, Mind Eraser, and The Raptor.
Disappointing

Being a huge fan of RCT1, I was thoroughly disappointed with this version. Whatever improvements or additions I was anticipating turned out not to be exciting and I actually found RCT2 less absorbing than RCT1. One of the most tedious items I found was having all the scenary remain if you demolish a ride that you built including scenary. In addition, most of the challenges in the various scenarious in RCT2 are long and boring. I found I spent a large amount of time detangling walkways and rearranging the scenary included in the scenarious so my visitors would not die of thirst and hunger and I would not have to spend the bulk of my $ on maintenance. I am retiring RCT2 and passing on the expansion pack until they seem to figure this one out.
you have to go to scenario designer

you have to go to scenario designer.and go to admission settup.and select if you want people to pay the price to enter the park or for people to pay to ride the rides.
