Fantastic game, though frustrating to start with.

i really enjoyed (and still enjoy) this awesome game. It is really fun. Me, with my businessy mind, enjoyed the stategy of the game, while my cousin just enjoys making huge terrifying rollercoasters. This game definitely gets 5 stars in everything except that it is the first game I think Ive ever played that I actually need to read the instructions for!!!! The first time I entered it, I was kinda like: erm what on earth do i do>>??!! But in time, with pacience and dedication, I really got addicted to it. I found the right game for me and also the right settings. You eventually start to work out how to get around and get stuff done, too. All in all, it is a really good game and deserves a definite *****!!!!!!

The top echelon of PC gaming

RCT2 has taken the original game and improved on it in every imaginable way for the serious RCT gamer. The numerous scenery options present endless options for new scenarios that you can design and invent yourself. The roller coaster designer feature (a much needed improvement over the original) gives the player the opportunity to design exciting coasters with out the restraint of managing the park at the same time. I immensely enjoy the Six Flags scenarios that display the most creative use of the scenery options in the game. Definantly buy this game if you enjoyed the original. If you haven't played RCT, but you are interested, now is the time to get this one. But make sure you have plenty of hours to play it-you will never want to put it down.

Wonder why game is such the same!

The main reason I bought RCT2 was because the original wasn't supported in the XP format. I was severely disappointed with the new game. There were less game options it seemed, many fewer (and less fun) scenarios and the Six Flags rides are a marketing tactic. The advantages are however: a) The new scenario editor that lets you create your own scenario b) The track editor which allows you to build without financial worry and c) The XP format (all of which leave something to be desired). All other changes were superficial. If you have RCT1+Loopy Landscapes/Corkscrew Follies, don't bother with this game. It seems to me that an expansion pack would have worked better (but maybe there wouldn't have been enough for one :-))

Slow loading with XP, but it is a great game overall

Sometimes, I do have trouble getting it to load on XP, but it is worth the wait. Just painfully slow. I click on the button to go into the game and then wait about 1 - 2 minutes and it comes up with the loading bar and eventually lets me in. I have a pretty fast computer too. At any rate, the graphics are heightened a little, though there are not a lot of scenarios, they do have downloads of old favorite scenarios at the RCT2 site. In addition, they have a scenario creator which directs you through making and saving your own scenarios, so the sky is the limit really. You also have tools to make a number of customer rollercoasters too. The interface is pretty much the same as the older version, so for people that have the older game and all the add on's like myself, it was really easy to get started. It does provide tutorials for those who have not played it before. The only thing I would like to see in the future is the ability to trade scenarios online, rather than just rides. Well worth the money in my opinion.

Fun, but disapointing

I am a major RCT junkie, but i am a bit dissapointed with RCT2. It is a fun game, but it doesn't feature many improvments from the origional (and there were a lot of things that could have used some improving). The graphics are the same, the handymen are just as stupid and still get stuck, you can still only view from 4 different angles, and they removed the ability to play it in a window on you desktop (or at least I havn't seen how yet).

On the plus side, they've added some new rides, new shops, and new ways of adding scenery. One nice feature is the ability to build shops/bathrooms above another path or water.

Overall, this is a fun game (as was the origional). But don't expect too many new and exciting features. This game is really more like an expansion to the origional RCT. But hey, for $22 I guess I can't complain

More of the Same

It's a nice game for a rainy day, but to tell the truth it's pretty much the same as RCT1. I absolutely loved that game and was addicted to it, but I felt kind of disappointed by RCT2. I also liked the menu interfaces better. The only thing that I really enjoyed was the scenario editor. I thought the first one was lacking with no real sandbox mode. If you are new to the series, buy part two over part one, there are more features and more parks to play with. But if you already have one and all the expansion packs, or own the gold edition, don't bother. Just download all the great six-flags parks I have seen on many of the forums and build your own.

Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 is a GREAT Stand-alone product

I think rollercoaster tycoon is a great stand-alone product along with Rollercoaster Tycoon/ Loopy Landscapes/ Corkscrew Folleys. It intergraded lots of Six Flags Scenery and Rides, along with parks. It takes up about 200 MB, so be ready to handle this. The layout is also a bit different.

Best Game I've EVER played !

I waited 2 months for this game to come out and it was definitely worth the wait. As you all know, Roller Coaster Tycoon 2 was released in the US today. Right after school at approximately 1:30 (wae had an early release day), I got on my bike to retrieve my copy that I'd reserved. I tell you, it was definintely worth it. The thing I was looking forward to was the Roller Coaster Designer. The type I REALLY wanted to design was the Giga Coaster. I designed it, and it got nothing of what I expected. Its excitement was 8.00(approx.),intensity 6.77(exactly) and nausea 3.40(approx.). What REALLY surprised me was the intesity rating. I was expecting 8.00(approx.) and it got a lower one than that. This is the best game I've ever played. New features make this a must-get.

Very Good! But they should call this Expansion Pack, not RCT

Roller coaster tycoon2 is great. You have more than 15 new roller coasters.Plus did I mention that they have X from sixflags magic mountan, and Goliath from sixflags magic mountain. You have to get atleast 5,600 guest in your park with a rating of 800.Remember to keep your guest happy or else your park will be closed down
