Pokemon Crystal was part of the second generation (Gold/Silver/Crystal) pokemon GBC games. Personally, I'm not a huge Pokemon fan, but this generation of Pokemon games was really unique. The Crystal version was the first installment that actually allowed players to choose whether they wanted to play as a male or female character. It pretty much followed the same story line as Gold and Silver, but had a few differences, such as some extra secret rooms hidden in the Ruins of Alph, and the fact that Suicune could be battled/caught and would not run away. (Entei and Raikou, would still run, however.)
I could go on and on about how great the game truly was, but the main point of my review is to actually give a fair warning to customers who may not be aware of what has happened to these games over the years. Recently, I just tried starting up my Gold/Silver/Crystal games, and the only one that still had it's former save file was my Silver Version. My Gold and Crystal versions had lost their save files and whenever I started a new game and tried to save, the memory just didn't work. I got curious and decided to look into this further. From what I found out, appearently the game cartidges have a small battery that power the memory usage of the game. Now if you haven't already guessed it, nothing lasts forever, thus the same rules would apply to these batteries. The approximate longevity these batteries were given were about 8 years at max. Now is about the time for the batteries to be failing and if the batteries are failing, that means good bye to any former saved files and no longer can people save new files. The reason I bring this up is because I see that some people are still selling their used Crystal (and Gold/Silver) versions. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that everyone out there is trying to sell everyone else lemons, but before anyone decides to buy one of these games, they might just want to check into the used product they're buying and see exactly how old it is, because some of the newer editions of these games should most likely still work as far as the battery goes. I'm not into the technical details of this whole thing, but considering that two of my games are only good for a scrap heap now, I really think it's only fair to warn others who may be interested in buying a used edition of these games.

the game is awsome you could play as a boy or girl. you can catch celibi and the lagendary dogs. a trainer in the game has 4 suicunes but I'm not shure. on every route on the bottom of the screen what route your on. the pokemon breeder in goldenrod city gives you an egg ticket, give it to pokemon pcc to get an egg like with a cleffa with dizzy punch. you can also trade pokemon with a mobile adapter.
Like Gold and Silver but better!

Yes, everyone knows that Pokemon Red and Blue are almost identical and the same goes for Gold and Silver. And Yellow was a modified version of Red/Blue. Well, Crystal is a modified version of Gold/Silver. Unlike Yellow, there is no difference in the starter pokemon between Crystal and G/S. But even if you've played Gold and Silver you've only had the chance to use two of the starter pokemon unless you a) were willing to delete your game or b) found someone willing to trade you the third one (which isn't that unlikely with the advent of pokemon eggs I guess). Anyway, there are several new features in Crystal. First, you can be a girl. You decide your gender when you are setting all the settings at the beginning. Also, when you meet a pokemon in battle, it animates as it appears. For instance, Pidgey will flap its wings. Cyndaquil will shoot up its flame or something. I've played the Japanese version, but not very much because I couldn't figure out the clock. I think the time-keeping system may have changed, because there seems to be a watch or something. Also, I expect the English version of Crystal may have better graphics on houses and things, because it is a Gameboy Color-only game. As in, it cannot be played on a black and white gameboy. (Of course it can be played on a Gameboy Advance, which plays games for both GB and GBC.)
So, in summary: Choice of player gender! Pokemon animate when they appear! Probably better graphics!
Oh, almost forgot: also there is a sign that pops up and tells you where you are when you enter a town or other area. For more, try pokemasters.com.

Pokemon Crystal is the best pokemon game ever so far, so here's the real deal:
1. Pokemon animate now, like Pikachu blinks and waves his arm. 2. There is a Battle Tower now west of Olivine City which has tons of trainers ready to battle you. If you win, you may even get Protein, Carbos, etc. 3. Suicine is a major player in the game. (I think the box says so...) A Suicine fanatic, Eusine, wants to capture it, and you are his rival. 4. You can capture Ho-oh in this game, one one condition: You must beat the elite four and capture all the ledgendary dogs. 5. You can choose to be a girl. If you are, you graphic will look different, and your pokegear looks different too. 6. Trainers give different responses when they call you via cell phone. 7. Unown puzzles in the Ruins of Alph are more interesting. 8. A new radio show, hosted by Buena, gives you a password every night. Tell the password to Buena in the Radio Tower in Goldenrod to redeem points to get free prizes. 9. Pokemon are found in new places and learn new moves. 10. The Ice path looks much cooler than in G/S. The walls look like ice.
But........ YOU CANNOT GET CELEBI and there are no Cell phone capabilities for the US version. (It is only in the Japanese one.)Please keep this message in mind because dumb people love to spread rumors and "catching Celebi in Crystal" is one of them, just a bunch of foey!
But my point is, buy Pokemon Crystal. It rocks and every Pokemaniac should get it!!!...

This game will be exactally like gold and silver version ecsept for the fact the you can by male or female in the game. you can try to capture suicune with out it running away. There will be a man out side of the game corner in goldenrod after you bet the elite four and he will teacher one of three moves(thunderbolt, flamethrower, and icebeam) to one of your pokemon for 4000 coins. There will be a chance for you to catch a level 60 Ho-oh and the game tower were you can test your skills. Contrary to popular belife you can not catch celebi in the wild. If you don't believe me buy the game when it comes out your find out for your self.

Hi! If you have ever played Pokemon Gold or Silver, you'll know what to expect in Pokemon Crystal. There are some interesting differences, though. In Crystal you can choose a boy or girl character, unlike Gold and Silver where you can only be a boy. You can also catch pokemon #251, Celebii. This is the only game where you can capture Celebii. When you enter a new town or route, a wooden-like sign will appear to tell you where you are. And, when you awaken the three legendary dogs, you will be able to see Suicune on the map. This is the perfect game for anyone who likes role-playing adventures, whether you're new to pokemon or not.

Pokemon Crystal is going to be huge as there are loads of dedicated Pokemon fans out there. There are that many extra features on this game, its sort of similar to Pokemon Yellow, but it its the addition to Gold and Silver. You have the option of being Male or Female, and there are a few other feartures. .... Gotta Collect Them All. Pika!!!
