there's good news and bad news... we'll start with the bad.
1. more of the same. if you played the first one, you'll see a lot of the same elements here, and you'll probably be disappointed by a slight lack of varied gameplay.
2. the dialogue. something major was lost in the translations, as fans of the original might remember. overall, it's very redundant and often times stupid, and really takes away from the game. you'll find yourself skipping it a whole heck of a lot.
3. direction. this game lacks it big time. unless you feel like talking to every (and i mean EVERY) NPC or spending more money on a player's guide, you'll have a hard time knowing where to go and what to do next. it could potentially frustrate you enough to put the game down for a while.
4. there are many extra events in this game that can be triggered by having done something in the original, and you'll go for a long time without knowing what they are. you'd have to have played the original through completely and talked to many people before you'll unlock the full potential of this game, and if you're an avid antagonist of walkthroughs, then this might change your mind about it.
the good news...
1. more of the same. if you enjoyed the first one, you'll probably enjoy this one. again, the gameplay variation is only slight, but it's potentially enough to distract you from the repetitive gameplay.
2. graphics. dramatically improved from the first, this game will have you oo-ing and ah-ing through the entire game.
3. content. this game is potentially 80+ hours long if you go for 100% of it, which is a lot. there are a myriad of things in this game to collect, including items, summons, and djinn, that will have you hooked (or frustrated) for a long time.
4. replay value. with a battle arena, a multitude of classes and psynergies, many secret items held only by enemies, endless battle strategies to devise, and much more, this game will have you going through batteries like they were free.
overall, it's fun, despite flaws abound. pick it up, play it through, and if you like it enough, play it again. you won't be disappointed. (well, not too much.)

I haven't played Golden Sun but The Lost Age? not much to say but just brilliant, especially when you summon "Catastrophe" graphic is just awesome. not just catastrophe but most of the psynergeys and summonings are just wicked.
Game is just full of riddles and puzzles and some are easy most of 'em are hard.
I recommend not to buy guide book 'cause it will make it less enjoiable.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age, is unquestionablly the best RPG up to boot on the GBA. The only reason I was forced to give this awesome game 4 stars was because of the many small con's. Here is a little list:
Pro's
+Incredible graphics and music beyond GBA recognition
+A large variety of weapons, magic, and choices to make
+Great storyline
+An extermely long game, you'll be playing days on end
+Entertaining until the end
+Multitudes of creatures
Con's
-PUZZLEMANIA! I completely stopped the game in some spots, namely Gambobra's Statue. If you're not good with puzzles, this game will rip your heart out.
-Conversations take extermely long. I was once listening to a near-end-of-the-game conversation that was so long that I had to shut off and beat a boss again
-Could seriously use a Journal to keep track of quests. In the beginning, you don't know what in the world to do.
I'd say it's a definite buy. Just, if you're that impatient kind of guy, the puzzles will make you die in confusion. I think that this game will be completely smashed dead by Final Fantasy: Tactis Advance. So if yur gonna get this game, I would rather buy Final Fantasy, if you're willing to wait. GS The Lost Age is only temporarily the best RPG on the GBA.

Golden Sun: The Lost Age begins exactly where Golden Sun left off. Taking the role of the villains, you continue on with the journey. Except this time, you're trying to LIGHT the Lighthouses, instead of keeeping them from being lit. Being on the villains side changes your view of the story and things that have been happening. Of course, you'll start out with a heavy grudge against them, but as you go, will you grow to like them.
This game deepens the plot even more. And answers some questions that had been left unanswered in Golden Sun. No more real VILLAINS, since you are the villains? No no no. There are villains indeed. And it's not our heros from the first game. New characters? Of course. New powers and djinn? Yes. More to the story line? OH Yes.
This game is everything the last game was. Perfect graphics, perfect music, perfect story, perfect characters, perfect game play. There's a little more running around and side stories and tasks, but it's all totally worth it, and it's all connected to the plot.
Just who were Saturos and Menardi? Where did they come from? Where did they have Felix all those three years he was thought to be dead? Is Sheba alive? Will she discover her past? And Ivan, will he discover his? And what of Alex? What are his true intentions? Who's side is he on?
This game, as the last deserves more than 5 stars. It is simply amazing, everything the first was.

This is definetly the best GBA game ever. I am not talking about just Golden Sun: The Lost Age, but Golden Sun too. If you played just one of the games then the game is all right. But if you play both of the games it is one of the best games ever(at least for GBA). The different Psynergies are cool, the summons are excellent, and the plot is original. My favorite thing about the game is it's got the coolest towns and places like that. Unlike some other games every town it different in some ways. The music isn't bad either. I won't give that much away but I do think the ending of TLA could have been a little better but it wasn't a bad ending. The graphics for this game are really good. The game is played in sort of a bird's eye view but unlike other games Golden Sun didn't mess it up.
The characters are pretty cool but I think it would be better if in TLA Felix would talk like he did in Golden Sun. In TLA it was cool to hear Isaac talk for the first time. I always wondered what he would say.
The only problem I have with the plot is that Isaac and his party are going to find Lemuria too after they light the lighthouses but they never do and Felix never told them the news about Babi. Some things in the plot weren't cleared up either like what happened to Karst and Agatio, what happened to Isaac's old Lemurian Ship, what happened to everyone else from Vale, and was Isaac's dad in Prox the whole time too?
But don't get me wrong. This is the ultimate adventure game and if you are looking for a great new GBA game this is a must-have.

My GAWD, I love this game. I simply cannot get enough of it. The storyline, the amazing graphics, and best of all the characters. Oh, how I love the characters.
While the first game was rather short, this game nearly doubles the time--it takes much, MUCH longer to finish. Which is for the better, of course.
Graphics are as stunning as ever. Golden Sun continues to lead the way in graphics for the GBA. Tiny pixilated characters never looked so good on my screen before. They're cute, too.
The Djinn system has been updated, as most probably know--you can now COMBINE Djinn in your summons and produce awesome new dudes to lay the smackdown on those enemies. You can gain these new combination summons through "Combo Tablets", which are scattered throughout the land and obtainable throughout your journey. This is by far my favorite addition to the second game. Can we say WOW, people?
There are, of course, a few disappointments. The battle system is the same, and they failed to reprogram it so your character attacks another enemy if the one you told them to attack has fallen (which irks me to no extent). A few of the mysteries from the first game that are revealed are a bit disappointing, too, but the game makes up for it by throwing in more plotlines and all that jazz.
A personal complaint that probably doesn't apply to everyone: no romance develops. Man, I was looking forward to a few charries getting paired off by the end, but no. I am left in the dark, forever to only imagine such relationships. Le sigh.
Ahh, there are so many things I could mention, but every one of them would spoil the game in some way or another. ^_^ It's that good, and there are that many plots/subplots/conflicts, everything.
Gotta play again. And again. And again.
I truly wish a third installment would surface out of the depths of Camelot's genius (for multiple reasons--believe it or not, there are still several questions left after the game ends. ARGH), but alas, I can only pray.
Sweetest RPG eva!!!

Gameplay: Awesome. all the controles here feel great on the gba. I can evan play with the GBA in my pocket at school. You're new Djinn bring out the best of you're party, and the new summons look awesome!
Graphics: Just about all the graphics in this game are recycled from the it's prequel. A bad thing? NO! The graphics from GS1 were and still are some of the best on GBA.
Sound: The Sound here is great. Pleanty of variation in SFX. The musical score here sounds better and gives a better effect to the area than just about another game.
Replay: Think you've beaten Lost Age after you've beaten Doom Dargon? Wrong. With new summons in side quests and hard mode, you'll be drooling for more.
Multiplayer: Think you're party's the best there is? Test you're metal agaist friends via GBA link cable. Don't beat you're friend to bad though, just cuase you're game's mean you can beat him in real life.
Overall: This is a must have for the GBA. If you're an RPG fan withough Lost Age, you're not an RPG fan.

Golden Sun:The Lost Age is one of the best RPGs of all time not only because of its great storyline but also for the great graphics. It will entertain for hours of fun. I recommend if for kids who are at least 10 or 11 because at times it can get difficult. Still this game will not only challenge your child but let them have loads of fun.
