I got my pre-order code right off the bat. But it looks like the people at funcom under estimated the demand for the game and I will have to wait a few days longer to get the game. I have an advantage that a few people don't, that is I have friends that got on to the beta servers, so I do know it is a game I will like. I was not able to get in early due to my late order time and the servers got filled too fast (I blame the 3 weeks of National Guard anual training for that) but I can wait. It seems, from my friends, to be worth it.
No trial?

Can't really rate it yet, but I hate games that don't give you at least a two week trial. You would certainly get a lot more subscribers that way once they have tried it before having to buy it. I will never understand companies that decide not to do this. Just bought the game today and am eager to play, but I have been reading way more negative reviews than I am liking. Guess I will have to keep reading before I decide, but it is certainly a cheap way to get 50 bucks out of players who don't even know if they are going to like it.
Pretty good game though needs some work

This is a pretty good game, though it really does need some work. It really does need a pretty high end machine to run effectively and it took me a couple of hours on a machine that had all the recommended stats to get the game to run smoothly with a decent frame rate. In all it reminds me of a cross between Eq2 and Wow. Its pretty strait forward though the play styles and interface needs some real work before its a smooth game. People that have played other Funcom products like DAOC will recognize the similarities of the games and even though the graphics look amazing if done properly a system with even high specs will have problems making the game look decent with out some work. There is an ton of rendering that seems a bit arbitrary that could have been avoided with better programing and some probably necessary sliming down on the code end. If you have the minimum specs for playing this game at this point of the release I really wouldn't bother as you can find other games that will preform better and look better on the same machine. The game is pretty innovative as far as concepts are concerned and can be quite a bit of fun though nothing overly ground breaking and inspiring to people that have played more than a handful of other MMORPG tittles will be found here. Ill be playing it, though only really with the intention of waiting for the next better game to come out as its still a grind and a little tedious in the game play.

No free 30 days without handing over credit card first, and they don't accept Discover. I'm not giving a company my ATM card that seems to think they can trick 14 bucks out of my pocket... what are they a porn site? Let people sign up, then force them to start playing on paying basis. Sorry, game looks great but crappy account management means I immediately uninstalled it, giving it to a friend. Maybe they'll give it a good review, this seriously pissed me off.
Good times

This is a fun game. I bought this game to try it out before War Hammer Online comes out. The first 20 level mission is worth the purchase alone.
The game is kind of buggy, WOW was as bad when it first came out, after a few patches it will smooth out just like WOW. Areas are zoned but quite large and have short load times between them.
The class system is more of a old school MMO, where they are not reliant on each other. Spell casters do not need someone tanking for them. they are still squishy but have buffs to protect them. Priests in this game can dish out the pain! As well as mages and tanks! Also the gore effects are lots of fun.
There is some buton mashing, making it a little more interactive like Diablo then WOW. Fun. There is some nudity/adult content which is cool too. The graphics are great. Quests are fun. The lore is very cool giving depth.
Bad- Kind of buggy as with all new MMOs. Does not have the content yet that WOW has.
Good- Graphics, adult content, story line, quests, and fatalities
I may stay with this game when War Hammer online comes out.
Very Poor Start

I purchased this game from amazon in April and also never received the promised code from Amazon. When i finally got the oode, early play was "full". In my case, ordering one month early didn't even get me in! Lesson learned: i will not pre-order games through Amazon again. Funcom should be ashamed of releasing such a huge number of codes, then not honoring the codes they released...classic bait and switch to get people to buy the game early. I realize some of you may be sick of hearing about people's experiences with the order and would like us review the actual game...my response: I'd love to! As soon as i can get in! The reality is, bad experience with Funcom IS part of the game experience. You would think Funcom would have learned this from their release of Anarchy Online, but apparently not.
MMO and Amazon equal a bad combo

The best part about playing an MMO is at launch. Everything is new, we are all stumbling around in the confusion. Its crazy but fun. Its also a race to discover new things, be the first at something, etc.
Having said that, I couldnt tell you how the launch was because amazon just sent me an email telling me my order is delayed !!! Not only that, but amazon took too long sending me my early access cd key so I didnt get in.
People have been playing AoC since May 17th. Im now expected to wait until the 26th to get the game.
This also will affect which server I choose. I cant select certain FFS servers because there will be a ton of 9 day vets waiting to camp my weak toon.
Im cancelling this order and going straight to Best Buy. Thanks for nothing amazon

I found the game to carry the Conan theme really well, graphics are well done the running gets jerky at times and the updates can get screwed up.
Effects ( lightning and fire so far ) is really good, having the mob catch fire and screeming very authentic.
I'm still enjoying this game but I also have a lot invested in World of Warcraft so it remains my main game.
WoW is still KING!

AOC is a pretty good effort with VERY STEEP system requirements.
But the truth is, if you want the best MMO out there, buy World of Warcraft and make the most of your MMO dollar!!
This game is not worth your money, or its hype

Age of Conan has nice graphics, but its violence is disgusting, and the animations look strange. Gameplay is mediocre.
