Superb game!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 6 / 17

The graphics are among the best I've ever seen, for all game types! The music and sounds make you feel you're really there - in Hyboria, and the gameplay is really fun. I also like the fact that the quests are much more "alive". In WoW, you don't even bother reading the quests texts, but here you are taking part in the conversation with the NPCs. The combat system is innovative, although I expected something even more groundbreaking. It's Wow - but with a cool twist.

The downside: I had to buy a new graphics card to be able to play it, but then again, I needed a new one anyway ;)

If you're doubting if this is for you - find a friend who has the game, and play 7 days for free. I think you'll opt for getting your own copy after those 7 days!

When FUNCOM manages to remove the bugs, and integrate some of the missing features, this will be a total classic!

Just Amazing

I have played several MMOs over the years and AOC is hands down the best of the bunch. It has amazing graphics, though you do need a fairly powerful PC to take advantage of them. I love the amount of total control you have over your characters attacks. The UI imho is spot on. No confusing icons all over the place very customizable. And of course the back story is great all the quests fit right inside of Robert E Howards universe. I can't recommend this game enough. It is so far the best MMO I have ever played.

there are alot of bugs

This game is horribly imbalanced. The graphics are so-so, I expected more. PvE is a joke as hate generation is based on who does the most dmg, not generated via skills. PvP is also a joke b/c classes are imbalanced and several classes have skills that don't even function in pvp or past lvl 10.

Questing is chaotic, spontaneous, irregular, inconvenient, a mess. Monster spawn is everything I've said about questing. The crafting system is horrible and does not lend to player trading except with trading materials...which everyone has access to gathering. Player economy is strange and very basic--it does not feel like much thought went into trade and social interactions other than PvP.

Money gains via questing are not equal to level. So, if you're a new character saving up for your first mount (available at lvl 40) You will have about 1/6 of what you need in order to buy that mount by level 40. Because player trading and the "AH" are not a great functioning system, it's unlikely you'll get a mount until you are in the mid 50's.

Overall, I give this game a very low rating. It feels like it was put together with very little thought and organization. And this game is not readily available to all players as the requirements to run the game are steep.

Save your money for something better.

Great Graphics & Good Action!

Team Play on the other hand is... Okay. The Lack of Voip (Voice Over Internet) makes team play a little on the weak side. Some people don't like the zoning where you can have multiple instances of the same area which can it tough to find friends sometimes but I don't mind that so much. When your in a guild or clan you can make up for this with programs like TeamSpeak or Ventrillo.

Once you get past the initial low level areas there is a lot less Voiced RP content. I kinda felt let down when I got the level 20+ areas and there were no more voiced characters.

Waste of Time and $$$$$

It's just sad had much Funcom had to work with here, but they fell flat. The graphics engine is great IF you have a top of the line machine. Class Balance is non-existent. Customer Support is a joke. Not worth a single penny.

Nice graphics, but just graphics, no customer service, no good gameplay

wel this game have nice graphics but has no customer service, no good gameplay, all the game is doing crap quest, crap instance and if u want get a team to do instance is harder and wasted time, guild ppl arent friendly, well and the game in just 1 month and half from mmo rating drops 8.4 to 7.9 what u think about that and 60% of ppl quit.
well i let u know something if u want to try it play, and if u gonna play in pvp server play in tirrany or deathwhisper(my server) cuz all other pvp server have less than 1k of ppl and there is very hard to get team

sincerly
Lord Kovenant
Deathwhisper 46 assasin
Deathwhisper 10 Guardian
shadowblade 36 assasin (this server sucks)

I have a top of the line pc and I can barely play this game, i've had to turn all graphics to *high* and change my shader to the lowest setting because of how buggy it is. Which is pretty much like playing everquest years and years ago (2001). Apart from that the customer service has been appalling. I bought the game preorder from Amazon assuming that I was going to get a free mount with my purchase, and it was not so, not only that, the customer support told me that only certain distributors gave that offer and that I didn't see which one that was, even though amazon was listed with those. They told me that Amazon offered a bow, which is not only lvl specific, but also very class specific, I was infuriated. Even though I still don't enjoy World of Warcraft that much, i'm still going to go back just out of spite of how terrible this company is. They absolutely didn't care about any aspect of what my needs or cares were. For shame Fun Com, For Shame.

The crush your enemies, to see them driven before you...

Age of Conan. I pre-ordered the game and started playing on launch day. The first week was a little bumpy but overall it was a decent launch I though. AoC's main competitor, WoW, had a pretty rocky launch and it wasn't until years of patching that they balanced out all the issues.

First off, is it fun? It sure is. The first time you pull off a successful fatality in PVP you're going to get a rush. You will need a top of the line machine to run this game though, they aren't exaggerating with the required system specs. Make sure you have 2GB ram at minimum otherwise you're going to have issues. Some people have complained about the high system requirements but I think this is a good thing. It'll keep the game looking good for years to come.

My only gripe currently is the in-game crafting and economy isn't quite there yet but I'm sure it will get tweaked as time goes on.

This game sucks.

Now don't get me wrong the graphics are outstanding on this game. Some of the best i've ever seen.
The sound is wonderful, especially at night out in the forest and the voice acting is great.
The combat system is very unique.

However, I spent over 10 weary hours playing this. The game forces you to stay on some dumb little island for 20 levels. All the missions are terribly linear that make you go down a little path or stay in a specific area.

I've played many mmo's, including star wars galaxes, world of warcraft, planetside, lineage 2, and everquest.

But this game i just can't get into. Way too boring.
