As a WoW user I have to say that I'm impressed with Age of Conan. Grafics are great and so are the different tasks and challenges of the game. I'm now at level 15 and its only getting more interesting;)
Not ONE of you has EVER played an MMO at launch before, have you?

AOC is probably the best MMO I have played so far that's in it's FIRST MONTH. Not saying it is the best MMO I've ever played, I'm just saying thaT I have played nearly every MMO at launch since Ultima Online, and not one has been this bug free for MONTHS after release. WoW, EQ, EQ2 ALL were RIDDLED with horrendous, gamebreaking bugs that make AoC's bugs look quaint in comparison. I've checked and oh... crafting... is having some issues... and .... Pretty much NOTHING else. I haven't crashed ONCE, and I haven't experienced but one or two minor bugs. I'm not even running that good of a machine. It seems to me like all the negative reviews here are written by WoW fanboys who started playing MMOs LAST WEEK.

Since 2005 I have been doing world of warcraft, and for its time warcraft was very good it was a good replacement from the last MMO I was doing which was Star Wars Galaxies. Just started the game last night only a level 5, Its a complete change from anything else I have seen on the market. I am currently running a q9450, 4gig of memory and a 8800gxt video card with 768 meg of memory-for the graphics alone minium it gets a 3. Later this week I will be putting in a geforce 9800gx2. All through I cant say how this game is going to go after the starter zone-if anything its a welcome break from warcraft. With a high end video card and or system this game feels like its being played in real time.

This game is fun, but not $15 a month fun. I'd like to play it here or there in my free time, but that's not enough to pay, so I'm not going to play beyond the initial 30 days that they give you.

It's a very nice change up to dive into Robert E. Howard's world from the cliche'd Tolkkienesque dwarves and orks. Don't get me wrong, I played WoW from release up until the release of AoC. I actually never had much interest in this game as I have been eagerly awaiting the release of Warhammer but I'm really glad I wound up getting in the beta and got to be introduced. The combat really is rewarding. There's no other feeling like getting your first decapitation lol. Even pulling off a nice finishing move makes for great pointing your finger at the monitor and taunting and trash talking mobs. The launch hasnt been the smoothest, but there have definitely been worse launches out there. And I know there are people who are complaining that there is probably some lack of mid to endgame content, but arent most games at launch? Look at WoW. It didnt even get battlegrounds for PVP til long after the game had been released.
Basically you're either gonna love it or hate it. This game will live and die by the combat system imo. I truly believe this is a great foundation for an amazing MMO series. The graphics are the best I have ever seen in an MMO. The environments are immersive and compelling. This game probably has the best soundtrack I've ever heard. Everything from the music to birds chirping in the forest, or even cats meowing at the local tavern. The combat soundtrack is outstanding too. The sounds of swords and shields bashing together and especially the sounds of decapitations are so detailed it makes you feel as if you're really right in the middle of the battle. The soundtrack really is amazing and it shows they put a lot of time and money into it. I would advise playing to level 10 with headphones on just to see how truly impressive it is.
Character creation is very detailed. Very similar to Oblivion. Can pick your cheek structure, how thin or thick your lips will be, even pick a voice and the height of your character.
The first 20 levels take place in Tortage. You can actually do most of this if not all in Night Mode (single player). I really enjoyed it and played it about 5 times over with different characters. The storyline is really amazing here and you feel as if you're on a critical mission and cant log out! Different classes get different quests and approaches to the overall objective here. It does feel very isolated in this zone, but it's basically an introductory zone anyway to allow you to learn to play the game. The true MMO doesnt begin in my opinion until you finish Tortage and travel to the next zone.
Anyway, there are still some bugs, a few memory leaks in the game, but they are working on it and new patches are coming frequently to resolve these issues. If you dont have a pretty mean machine either upgrade or dont bother picking this game up. It's a very graphic intensive game, but hey, you can pick up an 8800GT for under 200 bucks now so what're you waiting for?!
Overall, if you're burned out on the WoW's of the MMO genre, this will probably be a great buy for you. If you're not burned out on the WoW's then you should probably grab an AoC Guest Pass from a friend and give it a try before you buy or stay where you are. The combat is exciting and a totally different approach than any other MMO has taken. Just be sure to remember this has just launched and in the world of MMO's it takes a few months to get all the wrinkles ironed out before they can start focusing on patching in new content. And they will.

The system requirements for this game are pretty high. The graphics are nice, but they aren't worth all the memory you have to give up.
Unless you are a hard-core gamer who loves mmorpgs, don't bother.
This game is not for the leisure-type player.
A.O.C. - Pre-Release problems are not an Amazon problem, rather a FUNCOM problem.

Like a great many people I have watched the progress of AoC for over a year and eagerly awaited the chance to access the game. When the Pre-Release Early Access program was initiated and announced, I jumped on the chance and ordered thru another vendor (I won't mention who simply because this is NOT a vendor related issue). Many days went by with no release code issued until finally on the 12th of May I contacted Funcom. I was given a long-winded explanation that amounted to "Sorry Charlie, you ain't gettin in early, but we look forward to seeing you in Hibernia!"
My response was to immediately cancel the order and I'm unlikely to purchase the game now until after Funcom initiates a "try before you buy" program. My reasoning is simple, lousy customer service BEFORE they have your money isn't likely to improve after they have it. So yes, there are major problems that exist at least in this phase of the process, but these are not problems created by Amazon. These issues exist throughout the Funcom vendor community, and no vendor should be held liable when product availability is fundamentally flawed at the source.
The super hard-core game geeks out there will undoubtedly muddle through anyway and eventually get in, but then the real test will be to see how Funcom responds to the myriad of problems those folks will encounter during their first season of play. Something tells me, this is just the tip of an enormous iceberg and AoC may be a rough ride for quite a while to come.

When compared to CoH, WoW and LotR Online (MMOs that I've played) this game was by far the easiest to setup and patch. Although the game has many bugs it is still very playable as well as enjoyable (despite the mob of whining children, every patch has improved the game). This is not the game for the WoW player that enjoys a simple auto attack and alien looking armor/weapons. This game also offers a very detailed character creation (if you invest the time) and 12 classes. At level 65 (Priest of Mitra PvE server) I haven't had any problems with finding things to do such as quest, craft and gather. Anyone that has an interest in AoC should check the net for videos and decide if it is what they 're seeking. In my opinion this game is aimed at a more mature player that enojoys fantastic graphics and is willing to be challeneged.
Great looking game, but needs some more twinks

The game has great graphics and I surprisingly loved the mature content.
But for me their so no real distintion in the game's classes. Hate the instancing in the game. but besides those points the game is surprisingly well built and it's very detailed.
Bottom line the game has potential, but still needs some work.
