This game is amazing, can't belive it doesn't get more stars. LOL to all you guys that never have played an MMO game before and give this game one star. It's normal to have alot of bugges/problems in the start of a game this big. Have you all forgot how it was to play WOW in the beginning?
It was ALOT of buggs and downtime.
Just give them a some time, the potensial i so big.
This game is the best MMO that has been released for a long long time, maybe the best ever. I can strongly recomend it:)
Only good to look at!

I was so excited about this game, but it has dissapointed me for the following reasons:
* The game was released when it wasn't even 70% ready
* Gameplay becomes boring after 1 month of playing
* Huge patches every week, one of the patches was 15.6 GB!!
* Very buggy and patches sometimes create more bugs!
* PvP is terrible, level 80 can attack level 5 without a warning!
* No customer service because staff are busty completing the game and making patches!
This game will die soon!
Excellent Foundation but Over Criticized.

The game is actually quite nice if you don't rush through it and listen toe the flame fest. If you have a powerful system and can max out the graphics, it's amazing even on DX9. The DX10 video previews are also very impressive and due out soon.
So much fun !

Let me start off by saying, I have been playing MMO's since 1999 with the release of Everquest. I have played many new MMO's including EverQuest, EverQuest 2, Star Wars Galaxies, Planetside, Dark Age of Camelot, Shadowbane, Lord of the Rings Online, World of Warcraft, and Vanguard. AoC's release was absolutely fantastic. I downloaded the game and was able to start playing immediately. I created a character on the Derketo server and now almost a month later I have never experienced a server crash or lag. Obviously the graphics are new and much more detailed than an older game like WoW so your system requirements are going to be higher. Although Vanguard has been out for well over a year now, AoC runs smoother on my 18 month old system than Vanguard ever could.
There are two negatives that come to mind and that is the questing system and the user interface. If you are a fan of older MMO's like EQ that allow you to go into a dungeon and camp a certain area to grind out some mobs for exp/loot, AoC does not have this. Most dungeons are instanced and do not respawn so if you clear all the mobs you have to leave the dungeon and start all over again. I'm not a big fan of quest driven MMO's so I dislike having to do a bunch of fedex or kill quests to level up. MOB exp is minimal so all the real exp comes from turning in quests. What you end up with is a game like WoW where people only group to complete a quest goal then immediately disband once they have the update.
The UI is not very user friendly and looking back on FUNCOM's other big MMO release, Anarchy Online, you will see the UI in that game was subpar as well. They have not made it so that just anyone can modify the UI yet but they have promised that they are working on improvements for it.
Fixes are coming into the game rapidly now with 2 scheduled updates every week. Overall I am loving the game and hope future developers learn a lot from AoC and FUNCOM.
Good Game, not Great

As someone who has played MMOs since the mid 90s, and has even had a hand in some development/design, I like this game. It's a good game to play, and it will keep you entertained for a good long time. I just don't find it COMPELLING. Maybe I am getting old and cynical? However, while the graphics are fantastic, and the character development is very detailed, I just felt empty playing this. Much like Lord of the Rings Online. Maybe that's the best comparison I can make?
Big Disappointment

I have played MMORPG games (EQ1, EQ2, WOW, Vanguard, COH) for years and was actually enjoying AOG until I hit nude NPC characters.
Pros: Fun but somewhat repetitive game play
Cons:
No chat filters
Cut movies or interactions with NPC had a lot of swearing
Nudity of NPC
I overlooked the cussing (both NPC and players), crass building names and how the game allowed every idoit to create characters with vile names but I couldn't continue to play the game once I hit the nudity. Shame on the makes for not giving me the option to filter it out. I turned off OOC chat to limit my exposure to morons, but the NPC language couldn't be filtered out.
Yes it is a M17 game, but the developers need to give me the right to choose what I want to see/hear and what I don't. I am over 30 years old and have no desire to see topless women in a video game. If they want my money, they need to give me the tools I need to have an enjoyable experience. Instead, I am leaving this game with a foul taste in my mouth. I hope my friends will follow but even if they don't, I have to make a stand for my morals somewhere.
Save your money and look for a better game elsewhere. This game is trash.

Just a normal person I am. Not a professional at this at all on reviews.
I do really like this game a lot. After the very long install and all the updates I jumped right in and chose my character who was a Guardian. Very fun and strong character to play for a new player wanting to kick some tooshy when starting out. The game control is very fun and I love the new styles of attacks and all too. The graphics are just downright beautiful and everyone that I have played with on there has been very fun and friendly.
The only down side I have to this game is merely just technical. The forums prove it too. You can go into the forums and read the plethora of gripes and complaints on everyones issues. I won't go into great detail other than saying that the imaging stuttered on my screen during game play. Needless to say I tried everything that anyone offered to resolve it and ended up canceling my account in less than a month of game play. The game has many bugs and still needs a lot of work. There have been many people buying newer systems thinking it would resolve the issue and they are still having problems.
If you really want to play this game try the trial before you buy it just to be sure it is for you. Again it is a fun game and beautiful graphics. I've only suspended my account until I know everything is finally out of the beta stage and fully finished and working fine without as many complaints.
I do hope this helped someone out there. Good luck on your gaming adventures.
Just wanted to update my notes here. Would rate it 4 stars now. I recently built a new PC and now the game plays flawless. Have not ran into any technical difficulties yet. Not saying to get the exact same specifications on your computer that I have. But this is what I built:
EVGA nForce 680i SLI mobo
EVGA nvidia GeForce GTX 260 graphics
2 Gigs DDR2 6400 memory
700 Watt Power Supply (of course)
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Processor
Positive opinion ABOUT THE GAME, allmost all the negative ones are about amazone`s service

To start I am a huge fan of the origianl books and I grew up reading the comics. I love the Conan legend. I bought this game and my 6 year old computer could not run it. So I needed a new one anyhow and I got a nice laptop. I loaded the game and I play it on a regular basis. I still like WOW but AOC is very fun. It is a much more adult game with sexual sugestion, heads being chopped off and bloody deaths. But this is what I loved about the entire Conan genre so if this type of adult content bothers you stay away. But if you want a more adult game then WOW (at this time) get it. I realy like this game and I will keep playing it to explore the world of Conan.
