I've actually had the game since June(actually, I got it the day it came out. Hah!),but I never got around to writing a review. I can pretty much describe the game in one word: incredible. The graphics, music, levels, storyline, overall ending, all leagues above the original. Even though the camera seems worse than in the first one, it never spoils the fun. If you're a Sonic fan and don't have this game, WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU???!!! BUY IT NOW! Do whatever it takes! Sell blood, pets, toys, your little brother, anything! This is one purchase that you will never, ever regret.

dust off that dreamcast!

Sonic Adventure 2 is deffently one of the hedgehogs better games. A ton of new features have been added to the game, for example, sonic know has soap shoes, so you can grind down rails. Ok that might sound a little wierd at first, but it is actually incredibally fun. Not only do you get to be the hero sonic, you also get to be the villian and destroy everthing in sight. This game is a must buy, and you gotta let your dreamcast die with style, so pick-up this game.

Sonic is back and better than ever. This is a game that you should have, no if's and but's about it. Sonic is super fast and Tails is super smart and Knuckles is the best treasure hunter. This game is so fun, once you start playing the game you will always come back for more. Sonic Adventure 2 has the best story line and the best graphic's. If you dont have a dreamcast GET ONE because you dont want to miss out on this. It's Sonic's 10th Annaversery and the last sonic game on the dreamcast, dont miss out on this great game stop what your doing and go get it.

Just goes to show you. Sequels CAN improve.

Amazing. Is the only word I can say. This game is.... amazing.

Why? I'm very glad you asked.

Story mode. Remember Sonic Adventure's cutscenes... er... weren't exactly very good? SA2's _are_ good. Very good. Tails' voice actor is still a bit wooden, but the others have definitely been taking lessons, especially Amy's actor. The plot in SA2, for the first time since Sonic & Knuckles, goes beyond the traditional "Sonic good. Robotnik bad. Sonic attack Robotnik"-type. Indeed, you can play as the Hero or the Dark side. Bost must be finished before you can unlock the game's true ending. Both stories rock. Basically, it runs that Robotnik, or Eggman (as he has always been called in Japan, and has only recently been called elsewhere) has uncovered the "ultimate life form", a thing called Shadow. While Eggman and Shadow hatch world domination plots, a bat called Rouge, world-famed treasure hunter, takes a shine to the Master Emerald which Knuckles has spent a lifetime guarding. When Rouge, Eggman and Shadow make a deal, Sonic, Tails and Knuckles must get on the case... sounds fairly straightforward so far. However, there are actual plot twists worth having in this game! My jaw dropped just watching cutscenes on several occasions... I won't spoil it, but, just be prepared... Of course, cutscenes are all well and good, but not without gameplay to go with it. SA2 has the walk to go with the talk here. Sonic and Shadow zip around at high-speed, as ever. City Escape in particular could almost be directly lifted from Crazy Taxi, but it soon gets much more serious than that. Try trivialising Final Rush. Tails and Eggman go for a stroll in their death-dealing mechs. My highlight is Eternal Engine where you actually have to use your discretion in what you shoot. Knux and Rouge make you actually use your brain for once as you follow a trail of clues to the Emeralds. Rouge's Mad Space level literally span me out in particular. The only problem, really, in the gameplay is that camera angles can sometimes be a problem. It's not very common unless you start exploring off the beaten track, but it can get annoying sometimes.

Sound is perfect all the way through, and while the music isn't always what I'd listen to on the radio, it all fits....

Considering how many reviews there already were for this game, I considered not adding my two cents worth of opinions. But the game is just too great not to deserve some praise from me. ^_^ I have always been a Sonic fan and all I have to say is this is the greatest thing Sega could have done for Sonic and the dreamcast system. When Sonic Adventure first came out I was one of those people that coughed up the money for the japanese dreamcast in May (of 1999) and rumaged around for the import version. Let's just say after the opening intro to that game I was once again forever hooked on Sonic the Hedgehog. The graphics are no playstation 2 graphics or the like, but they are very good especially for the characters. The expressions of the characters are very well done. The voices of the Japanese dialogue are simply incredible and they fit the characters perfectly. Shadow's and Sonic's voices are simply perfect, I just wish I could find out which seiyuu (japanese voice actor) plays them o_O... The American voice overs.... ah, how ... to explain them... ... um... Shadow's voice has some coolness, but forget everyone else. Unless you are desperate, I recommend the japanese voices with the english subtitles. Yeah, if you don't know any japanese you won't be able to understand the FMVs (which seem to be pretty rare) because they do not include any subtitles. Lucky me that I know enough to know what's going on, but... well, pick your poison, I suppose. Camera angles can be a little annoying as I have found out but a minor flaw if you learn how to work with the disadvantage rather than always trying to fix it. (If you continue moving with Shadow or Sonic for an example the camera angle usually fixes itself.) Now you have the option of playing the hero side (consisting of Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails) or the villian side [including Shadow, Rouge (my bad, I thought it was "Rogue" ^^;;), and Eggman]. The new black hedgehog - Shadow - is also very refreshing to see... and his shoes are just awesome! Wish I knew what kind of soap shoes he's got his based off of! Sonic's and Shadow's levels are great. Fast paced, quick reactions, grinding rails (^_^!), everything. Those have to be the highlights of the game. I personally find Eggman's and Tails' levels to be boring and a little agitating... but Knuckles' and Rouge's levels... how I HATE them! They take forever and get annoying. Let's just say if I wasn't planning on getting all the emblems in the game to unlock whatever it unlocks, I would NEVER play the levels again. You WILL want to replay the Sonic and Shadow levels though. Trust me. @_@ The music might annoy some people, but personally I like most of it (except for Knuckles' rap music, argh!!!!) and Shadow's theme is very cool. The main theme to Sonic Adventure 2 - "Live and Learn" is great and I have the lyrics on my webpage just because they are so true and my friends who need advice only need to look at those words sometimes to figure it out. ^_^ I would recommend this game to anyone who has ever been a Sonic fan. This game combines the old school with the new (there is no world map for you to run around in like the first Sonic Adventure but the stages are 3d) and has just got to be described as one thing: It's Sonic.... and it's great. ^_^ I have just purchased the Imported 10th Anniversary pack along with the japanese game despite already having the english version I am such a Sonic fan ^_^. Best yet, Sonic isn't done yet from what I've heard. He will be appearing in a supposedly confirmed Sonic Adventure 3 (though I am not sure of which platform it will be taking) and various others it seems (something seems to be coming out for Game Boy Advance). It makes me and hopefully other Sonic fans give a sigh of relief that Sonic will continue to be around. ^_^ Happy Birthday Sonic, this game is definately worthy of having your name stuck on it.

this game rocks!

Ok, I played EVERYTHING of the game, defeated all three story lines, so if it someone to listin to, it's me. Ok, this game isn't your normal, good-guy defeates bad-guy, because, when you play Evil side, at the end Eggman is laughing and going "ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Because you took over the world. Then in hero side, you save the world, like the good-guy defeates bad-guy. Ok the only thing I will tell you about the Last stage, is that it's the best part, and you need to beat BOTH shages to play them.(And to defeat it, you need the air necklace for Knuckles)
I don't want to ruin the GREAT ENDING, and when I when GREAT I mean GREAT!!! Ok chao now go to school, there are bad and good chao too. Ok, now with the grapics, I would rate grapics 9.5/10 it's very good on it's grapics. Fun would be 9.0, it's more funer then first one! Sonic Adventure One I would rate 8.5 out of 10, and Sonic Adventure two is 9.0 out of 10. Gameplay, how long it lasts, well for me, im a really fast learner, took me about 20 hours, but a normal player will need 25-30 hours which is pretty good, and besides, you can race with computer after your done, Gameplay 9/10 The Sound, well the Evil music is pretty cool, and the Hero music is good too, my rating for sound 9/10 Overall 9.5/10! Great game get it!

This is awesome
