The graphics in this game are amazing. There are realistic streets, lakes, tropical jungles, deserts, pyramids, cities and prison complexes all whizzing by at light-speed. Pity the effort which was spent on the graphics couldn't have been reflected in the gameplay. This game features too many of the mistakes from the original Sonic Adventure. There is a ridiculous camera which often makes things nigh on impossible, especially when you're expected to grip a bar or slide down a two-pixel-wide bridge suspension over a gaping chasm. The camera moves when you least expect it, often refuses to let you see in certain directions and results in too many frustrating and unfair deaths. There are also the cartoon sequences, which are still not bypassable, though they are admittedly entertaining and often amusing, even if the characters' voices are drowned out by music.

If you're a fan of these kinds of games then this is certainly worth a look, as it is genuine eye candy and very playable, if only in the short-term.

The most unSonic Sonic game yet, & that's not a good thing.

I remember Sonic games as:
-A series of levels, all different and distinct.
-A simple storyline that didn't interfere with gameplay.
-A simple method of gameplay that was challenging, but could be mastered if you thought about it.
-A soundtrack that mixed up several genres and matched the mood of the music.

I see none of those qualities here.

You have so little level variety in this game. The first half offers some minimal variety. And just forget about the second half... It's ALL space age mechanical stuff. You will be sick and tired of it. Not even the last level (not boss) will offer anything different from what you've seen so far.

You'll also have to deal with some odd things. Such as, the Golden Gate Bridge, with a road that bends all over the place. There a quite a few city levels, and for what reason? For crying out loud, simply because the story brought the characters back there.

And we shall now address the storyline. Sonic Adventure was the most complex storyline in Sonic prior to this. It took a bit of brainpower to comprehend, but it was workable. And the story was portable, too. You could be on the beach one minute, in the ruins for the next boss, in the air, then the Casino, and it all flowed smoothly. But that doesn't hold true for Sonic Adventure 2. The storyline STILL escapes me. EVERYTHING should have been explained, instead of simply hinted at. And the said level variety was sacrificed for that story. The story took the characters to a space station and kept them there VERY EARLY in the game. It made for an exiting conclusion, but mainly because you were so BORED for the last half of the game, playing the same level with a changed shape.

And gameplay is much less than elementary. You have to learn how to grind for the whole game as Sonic. They should have made it like snowboarding: one level, once. But no, you have to do it the whole game if you're Sonic or Shadow. And I fail to see what's so great about grinding that made it such a revolutionarily large element of the game. If you're Tails or Eggman, you pilot a machine the whole game. You will instantly miss doing things such as flying as Tails, and may or may not hate the way you have to pilot a bulky machine around and shooting things with a delicate aiming system. In this game, things fly at you so fast, you don't have time you use it. The game FORCES you to button mash this game. Knuckles and Rouge partake in a treasure hunting game. It gets dull and overly challenging for Knuckles early on, and Rouge for her last stage or two. The radar is pretty much useless because you now have to depend on clues. You have to get to know the level very well to understand these clues. And you don't want to, because they're huge, and you have emeralds to find.

Also, the game may have lost one star off the review because of the badnicks you encounter: gelatinous creatures similar to Chaos... They will hit fire lasers at you. They will wrap tentacles around you within seconds, and you may not have even noticed them yet. And if you DO notice them in the split second you have, they will hide their heads and make themselves temporarily invulnerable for the instant you hit them. Then they will start attacking you again. It used to be that those badnicks were a way to keep the gamer from becoming careless. Now, you could plan your approach out in advance, rehearse it, and you still would only have a shot in the dark at taking ONE of these things out without losing your rings. And then you are expected to collect 100 rings with those things swarming over the level for another emblem.

The least of my worries, but yet icing on the cake, the soundtrack was 2/3 rock, 1/6 rap and 1/6 jazz. And most of that rock is technometal, which gets quite old after awhile. The genre is based on the character who plays, NOT the type of level, like in every other game they've ever made.

Really, if you love what every other Sonic game has been like before this, you'll need to find something else you like about this game, or it will NOT be worth your money.

OH MY GOD IT,S COMING AT ME----SONIC2------SO SOON!

The long awaited game for Sonic fans is finnaly here! This game pushes dreamcast to its limit! Sonic adventure 2 IS-A-DREAM... Wow. The most stunning thing about Sonic 2 is its visuals! Even the 2-player player mode never suffered from slowdown or anything else! And its more REALISTIC!!! But some characters sufferd from bulky polygons which was a MAJOR DISTRACTION!! Before the whole game gets on shelves lets hope the probs are cleaned up before june 22nd!!

The last game wasnt relly sonic material! But now, now SA2 is the pure sonic material we,ve been lookin for!! And Amozon, save one for me please! I warn you Amozon... This game may go out of stock pretty quick!!!! One more thing: email me when the

"Sonic 10th anneversary hardware bundle" comes out!

The blue hedgehog is back for his second adventure. This game promises to probably be one of Dreamcasts best games. You can tell that days, months, and maybe even years were put into this game. The detail and speed of the game are the best i have seen. In this game there are also many new features, such as grinding on rails and flying through space. This game is definatly a must have for every gamer out there.

The best game, period

First of all, anyone who gives this game less than 5 stars is crazy; don't listen to anything they say. This is my favorite game of all time. It has three modes: the really fast run-through-the-level-as-fast-as-possible mode that is a trademark of Sonic games (for Sonic and Shadow), a mech-like robot mode for tails and Dr. Eggman (AKA Dr. Robotnik), and a seach for the object mode (Rouge the bat and Knuckles the Echidna). The game also has incredible replay value. There are three different stories: Hero and Dark (Which culminate in the same ending) and the Last story, which is the ending to the hero/Dark story. In adition, you must beat each level in 5 differnt ways to get a Sonic emblem. There are 180 emblems total and it takes around 5:00 to complete most levels, so in theory, it takes at least 9000 minutes (150 hours) beat the game completely. In practice, it takes a lot longer than that, so you don't have to worry about finining the game and getting bored. As trivial as this may sound, the background music is also a huge plus. Only a handful of songs have lyrics, but each level has its own music that really sets the tone for the level (ex.: City escape has a fast-paced, upbeat song and the haunted Pumpkin Mountain has a spooky song. The old Sonic days when you got one song for each 4-level "world" is gone. The character designs and powerups are also awesome with one exception: Knuckles's Hammer gloves look like colored blocks on his hands. But seriously, Shadow is the coolest looking thing ever. My kudos to his designer. All the other characters look cool too, but Shadow rules. Another really cool thing is the mini-games. Once again, you can take your chao on an "Adventure" with your VMU (the Sonic Games are the only games on the VMU that you can actually play), but that's not what I was talking about. The 2 Player mode and Kart racing are increadible for the kart racing, think Mario Kart64, multiply the graphics by two, divide the number of tracks by three and take away the items. When you have to compare a mini-game to a comparable game, you know its a good one. In 2P mode, you can choose to play as Hero or Dark characters in a race, treasure hunt, or battle Royal. Another the cool new feature of SA2 comes as a result of the Sonic Team's deal with Soap shoes: sonic and Shadow can grind with thier shoes. The last level in the hero story requires you to travel in space by grinding, which is hard but fun. This is the best game ever. Even if I didn't own a Dreamcast I would at least consider buying one just for this game. This game is comparable in fun level to the entire Final Fantasy series as a whole...only it's better.

HELLOOOOOOO GET THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This game will totally rock. Although, it stinks that there arent as many characters as the first one. But otherwise wallwalking, skyboarding, and grinding on stuff seems pretty cool. And I loved Sonic Adventure. Buy this game.
