Wow! Sa2 is cool! I should know. I've got near every sonic game. And let me tell you, this is one of the best. Normaly, I prefer at least one 2d game from a 2d turned 3d series. Like super mario bros.3 to super mario 64. Rayman to Rayman 2. Sonic 3 and knuckles to sonic adventure 1. But this game is indiscridible. I never thought a 3d game could beat a 2d classic. But this is so good! I havn't played shenmue 2, but i'm pretty sure this is the best dreamcast game ever!

Somehow managed to get it on June 20th! Anyone else?

I played the original Sonic Adventure to death, but despite the graphics there was only so much to do. Now I bought Sonic Adventure 2, and all I can say is...wow. The graphics are incredible. Everyone's seen the City Escape level from the demo, but by far my favorite (to date) is Green Forest, where you have less than eight minutes to make it through the level. Remember how the jungle looked in the original Sonic Adventure? Now they have an entire level! And it's beautiful! I also loved Knuckle's Pumkin Hill level, although I haven't beat it yet. The neatest part has to be the Ghostly train, which is a small area where you can control the switchtrack for a train that drives around. (Oh, and in one of the doorways where the train leaves or enters, you can see Big the Cat hiding. I haven't been able to see if you can free him, but oh well.)

The graphics are incredible (as I've said before), and you can now skip through the cut scenes of the characters talking, which was annoying in Sonic Adventure. Although so far I haven't wanted to...yet. The characters move so much more fluidly now, and they're much more mobile. And some of the scenes are incredible. You watch an entire island (not Angel Island) get destroyed when a missile is launched, and you watch Shadow, Dr. Robotnick, and Rouge control each other on the ARK space colony, which has some fancy graphics.

And remember how easy Sonic Adventure was? You could pretty much beat the game as Sonic on your first try. Sonic Adventure 2 is much harder, and as of right now I'm trapped on both sides. On the Hero's side, I can't beat Pumkin Hill (although I didn't bother playing it long, since Shadow's so much fun I tend to spend more time on the villain's side). On the other, I'm trapped with Rouge, because I have to find all three Emerald shards in five minutes. I know, it sounds easy. But wait 'til you play it.

So, after only a day playing it, I can say that Sonic Adventure 2 is the most visually impressive of the two. By a long shot. The levels are amazing. The characters much more fluid. But as for gameplay, right now it's a blast, but so was the original's at first. I'll wait and see if it holds up to repleated playing.

Sonic Adventure 2: One of the last great games for Dreamcast

Gameplay-wise, Sonic Adventure 2 is a hyper, less exploration/all action version of Sonic Adventure. This latest installment to the series is more like the older Sonic games, in that there are only action stages and no "Adventure Fields" as in the first Sonic Adventure. Also a new feature for a Sonic game, you can now choose whether you want to control the heroes or the villians. This is a great idea, and it does add variety as far as the story goes, but the villians (Robotnik, Shadow, and Rouge) play very similar to the heroes (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles). The graphics have also improved, and the game almost always runs at a smooth, steady rate. The only faults in Sonic Adventure 2 are the horrible script/voice acting and the glitchy camera. You can use the side triggers to circle around your character and view the area, but you can't actually change the view, and that leads to a lot of deaths due to blind jumps. It's also very easy to build up speed in Sonic's/Shadows' stages and slip off the edge of the track. Aside from that, Sonic Adventure 2 is a rather solid game. There are also lots of mini-games to keep you busy, such as Chao raising, Kart racing, ect. If you own a Dreamcast, pick up Sonic Adventure 2...it's one the Dreamcast's last great games. It's a shame that the Dreamcast is being put to rest so soon when games of this calibur are still being produced for it.

Sonic Strikes Back

OK.. I'll admit it, I love Sonic. Maybe I'm biased, I grew up with the little blue guy. I disliked how they changed him to look now (he already had attitude, you didn't have to make him look the part, too..)

Anyway, this is a pretty good game. There's 3 types of stages: Hunting, shooting, and racing. Let me explain. There's 2 sides you can choose to play as: Good and Evil. To fully beat the game, you must beat it as both sides. On good, you have Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. Sonic is the racer, Tails the shooter, and Knuckles the hunter. For dark, you have Shadow, Dr. Robotnik, and Rogue. Shadow is the racer, Dr. Robotnik is the shooter, and Rogue the hunter. With Sonic and Shadow, you must race through a stage until you reach the goal. Tails and Robotnik must shoot down enemies while trying to get to the goal. And Rogue and Knuckles must find pieces of the Master Emerald.

Overall, it's a rather interesting game. The graphics are marvelous, and the gameplay is varied. Although you may grow tired of the simalarities in stages on the different sides, when you beat BOTH of them, the game gets truly interesting. I'm not going to give anything away, but if you've ever gotten all the Chaos Emeralds in the older Sonic games, hopefully you know what happens.. (Dragonball Z fans: Think Super Saiyans.)

It's a great game, and I reccomend it to anyone. ^_^

A lot more fun then the original

This game has everything the original sonic adventure had and then some. The game has some of the best and fastest graphics on the dreamcast. The games feel is incridible speed is the name of the game and with six playable characters and two different story lines ( one for good and one for evil) the game has lots of replay value. SA2 even has something the original doesn't a multiplayer mode. While its only for 2 players its still a lot of fun. This is a shining peice of work in the sad sad sad last days of dreamcast. Is this its dying breathe, well... not exactly but it's still a whole lot of fun for a great price. If you at all liked the original pick this one up now!!!!!! you won't regret it

He does tricks. He runs at super sonic speed. He saves the world. He's none other than Sonic the Hedgehog! Run through awesome loops, grind rails, or play against your friend. Let me start out by saying this game has awesome graphics. You can play as 6 different characters. The oldies, Sonic, Knuckels, or Tails( in his Tornado2) or as the new villians, Dr. Eggman, Rouge, or Shadow, the mysterious black hedgehog. Unlock hidden charecters. With new moves to learn, this game is great. Even though some characters have the same moves, they're still great. Unlock more secrets with the Mystic Melodies. And you can't forget the cute, adorable Chao, who you can raise, feed, and play games with. Take them to the doctor if they're sick and much more. I love playing against my friend in the 2-player mode. There are 4 diffrent things you can do in it: Race with Sonic and Shadow, Go emerald hunting with Rouge and Knuckels, battle with Tails and Dr. Eggman, and race in kart mode. With many emblems to capture and diffrent missions on each level, you'll be playing your SA2 (Sonic Adventure 2) for many hours. It's worth the 5 stars.

this game is awsome. the graphics rock the teripin house. you can either play as heros or dark people. it is totaly cool that you can grind with soap shoes. the only set back is you can't be tails out of his robot suit. still this game is one of the best games ever made for dreamcast. have GAMECUBE? no prob. they will soon be releasing sonic 2 for GAMECUBE.if you have a GAMECUBE get this game. i know i sure will . i'v beaten it on dreamcast, but i will still get it because is unbeleavably fun. dont forget to play 2 player it is tight.

With my purchase of my Dreamcast I also bought the game Sonic Adventure. I have to say Sonic Adventure 2 is a huge improvement over Sonic Adventure and doesn't have as many flaws.

Sonic is mistaken for an evil Hedgehog named Shadow who has been spreading danger across the world. The military and all police units are after Sonic and you need to escape Sonic from them and avoid them in many of the levels.

There are many fun modes you can play in: Story Mode, Kart Mode and Chao Raising Mode. Story mode is the main game. You can choose to play as the Hero's (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles) or the Dark villains (Shadow, Rouge and Dr. Robotnik).

Kart mode is just like Mario Kart games for the Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64. You unlock Kart racing after you complete the first 9 stages. You can play in one player or two player and race as Sonic, Knuckles, Tails, Shadow, Rouge, or Dr. Robonik in 3 different courses.

Raising a Chao can be frustrating sometimes, but it is also fun. You teach your Chao to do new things while being nice to it, but trying not to spoil it. This mode gets old after a while though.

The levels in this game are amazing. Each level includes different missions that get more challenging as you get deeper in to the game. The graphics are very realistic and when the spins and jumps Sonic does look very smooth. The gameplay is a lot better than Sonic Adventure.

Sonic also has new abilities to grind on rails, and swing form vines and bars. And there is also a newer helper Chao named OmoChao who gives you hints in each level.

Sonic Adventure 2 is loaded with secrets to unlock. If you get All 'A' rankings in each of the levels many great secrets are unlocked. Also, getting all 180 emblems is very rewarding. There are many other secrets to unlock as well.

There are only two minor flaws in this game. The camera angles don't always show the direction you want to see and you can't play just as one character like you could in SA1.

Overall this is my favorite Sonic game ever and the best Dreamcast game that I have ever played. Sadly, it is the last Sonic game to be on a Sega console.

Going out with an explosion...

Sonic's back...very back. This game is incredibly good. One top-notch thing? The designs of Sonic and Shadow. All these reviews saying Sonic doesn't look like that...where have you been?! Great...now whenever I think of the two, I'll have the image of a couple of tall, extremely fast, shall I say...drool-worthy hedgehogs. Especially Shadow's voice. Just before the first time through Radical City, Shadow's line of,"I promised you...revenge!" left me slowly dropping the controller and drooling on the floor. O.o Buy this game...you won't regret it...

If I had to live with only one game then its this one!

I must first admit that I am subjective as I have played Sonic games since 1991. Sonic is, without question, the greatest video game series created. Mario who?

I don't have a Nintendo Gamecube, so I don't know how well the "port" of this translated to the GC. I do have a PS2 and Xbox and anxiously await for Sonic Heroes. I also have a GBPAsp and play Sonic Advance (1 and 2) often.

Sonic Adventure 2 (and Sonic Adventure 1) are worth locating a Dreamcast for alone. With Dreamcasts selling now for only $25 at local game stores, you don't have much to invest to get this game playing. (If you don't already have a DC.)

Its not perfect, it does have some quirks such as the camera positioning sometimes during the game. While you do have limited control of the camera in real time, there are times in the game where you may have to make a "blind jump" because of the view angle. A "blind jump" is a jump over an obstable that can't be seen. You simply jump and hope for the best.

Regardless of this quirk, this game is the game I would want to be with if I could only have one game. With vibrant graphics, fast aracady game play, a 3D nostalgia of the excellent 2D scrollers of years past, this game could very well be labeled as "the best game ever for any console".
