Shenmue

One of the best games EVER MADE. This game is SO in depth, there is no other games out there that are like this game. Its unique in its own style. When I first purchased this game, I was shocked first of all to see the graphics are how good it looked. Being on Dreamcast, it used ALL of Dreamcasts potential. This game has one of the BEST storylines than ANY other game that ive ever played. It keeps you going and keep wanting to play to find out more and more it keeps you locked into the game. You can keep up on your newer objectives and what needs to be done by looking in your "Notebook". Its a free world here. You can do what you want. Talk to anyone you want, go where you want pretty much. Its a free world. You can pretty much walk into any building/store. It has really good fighting battles. Like the timed QTE battles are really fun where it tells you what button to press and you have to press it within a certain amount of seconds, then he does a karate move on them. And also the free battles are really fun.

If you have a Dreamcast and what an awesome game and has an awesome storyline I STRONLY recommend this game now!!!

Best game I've played in a loooong time

I will say this, it was very difficult for this game to live up to the hype. I heard a great deal about this being a great game and all that, so I was pretty skeptical. However, it did live up to expectations. Some have called it groundbreaking, some call it a mish-mash of genres, I call it addictive. It literally does feel like excaping to a Japanese town in the 80's. The only detail I noticed was that Ryo, the main character, owned a Sega Saturn. I think in the 80's, we were still kicking it 8-bit style, but nonetheless, it is rich in detail. The control is great and the story is fun and complex once you get into it. My only complaint is that the story doesn't really end, it leads into the next "Chapter", so I have to wait to see what Ryo will do next. Still, I heard Shenmue 2 is expected soon, so here I am waiting. Oh, and my favorite part of the story is a huge brawl where you literally fight like 70 people! That was great.

The best Sega game ever!

This Game has it all. Great game play great graphics. Even great mini games. I heard of this game online. So I decided to try it out. Good thing I did or else I would have missed the best Sega game made. Everybody in this game talks. You walk on the streets and talk to people everyone has a different voice and says different things. Tons of action and fighting. This game will last you along time. There are four cd's included. Three are for regulear playing and one is called the passport it tells you how to play and stuff like that. To play you should use the stradgity guide or else it will be very difficult to play have fun!

I've never been so addicted to any other game. This is a masterpiece. Getting a Dreamcast is worth it just for this game alone. I even got an Xbox just because of Shenmue II (ok, ok, and MotoGP 2).

Although it has amazing graphics and astounding detail, THe game is WAY too boring. The jist of the game is Ryo saying " Do you know where sailors hang out?' " No I don't" Then Ryo says " I see". I STRONGLY don't reccomend this game.

Shenmue, Only For Dreamcast.

Sega has just released its killer game, Shenmue. With its incredible graphics, this is what puts Dreamcast on top, over Playstation 2, for the meantime. The graphics are very realistic, but there are some slowdowns. And the control is pretty bad. But that doesn't affect anything. And this QTE is such a great idea. Its different from other games. Its FREE. You can go anywhere you want. You can do anything you want. I just got mine and I'm still playing with it. It's like it'll never end. Its a must buy for Dreamcast players.

Shenmue, the game of questions

I recieved this game for Christmas. I thought it would be awesome. The whole game you walk around, do something, and then have to repeat the process by walking around the city and asking people questions. The mini games are pretty fun but the game isn't so great.

A very Pointless Game

Please don't buy this game for your own good. Even though the graphics were great that wasn't enough to make this game great. All you mostly do is talk and once in a awhile you fight. The plot of the game was good but was really made me rate this game so bad is that they don't even let you finish it. I don't know about all the other gamers out there but I for one am a person who buys a game and expects to finish it and not have to wait for the stupid sequel. The games cliffhanger really did it for me but if you like waiting for a sequel or like cliffhangers in a game then this game might be for you. But if you want to finish a game without having to wait for a sequel then I suggest you just rent it and don't buy it.

Don't Swallow The Hype

Well I have to tell you that I couldn't wait to get my hands on Shenmue. Then I did get my hands on it and I was quite disappointed. How long can you walk around and have the same people tell you that they will talk to you tomorrow? Don't get me wrong, the graphics are incredible on this game. Better than any of the current PS2 games that are out there, but it just didn't live up to all the hype given to it. Some people love it. Some people hate it. I found that it is a beautiful game and a kool concept, just not for everybody. And mine and my friends both started freezing up at load points. So, on a final note, I think that shenmue is a testimonial that game companies should stop worrying about how kool the games look, and focus on just giving us good games with good plots. Like how about some more F.F. games. PLEEEEEEASE!!!

Forklifting is My Top Priority

I am a black man who stars in this game. I am sensitive and I speak fluent Japanese. I manage the forklift operation day to day on Disc 3 (only). At a certain point, Ryo (of Shenmue) shows up for a job at my plant. He is a good driver of forklifts, but his skills do not surpass enough to qualify for number one forklifter. I have a hunch he will help me with my own brother's disappearance and the Long Jah (aka the secret trade of Mad Angels back by Pier 17). I am going to fire him this week.
