I cant even express how good this is, almost orgasmic

I saw the trailers for this game and thought it looked cool but at the same time know that trailers are often deceiving to a games real graphics and play. Not true with this game at all everything you see in the trailer is real and your play it, from the nuke explosion to the night time gunning from the chopper. I bought my ps3 when it first came out last year and have almost every game out for it so far save surfs up or that harry potter game (actually no movie games) but this game and rachet and clank make me glad i only paid 900 for it on ebay after playing the aforementioned I would have gladly shelled out double even though the price is half that now lol. If you buy one game, this year this should be it.

5 stars for "Little Timmies", 3 stars for 35+ years old

Like Liam Craig said - ""filled with "Little Timmies" telling you how hardcore awesome they are"
That's exactly what I felt when I got online to play this game. Things have not changed a bit since way back when I played Delta Force/Land Warrior online ~10 years ago. You were like surrounded by bunch of two-legged creatures constantly running jumping around shooting at you every 5 seconds after you spawned. I am sure many of these hardcore (read "elite") players have never seen a real gun, but that's not my point. I am okay with the unlocking thing (may be it's their attempt to change the way how online game is supposed to be played), if that's moving in the direction to make this type of games closer to realistic battle/gunfight scenario, I am all for it. But for now, I would rather stay offline and be happy. I am in my 40's, get online and shoot everything that moves isn't really my type of entertainment anymore, been there, done that. I am sure that the resolution/graphics is not the only thing we could get out of the modern technologies for video games.
Another thing that I perfer Resistance over COD3/4 is the corporative mode that I can play with my friend against the bad guys rather than each other. (we do racing games against each other instead of shooting at each other). And the upper/lower split screen doesn't work for me at all on a 16:9 HD TV set like Resistance's side by side split. I wonder if they even tested that mode before they released it. Another reason I got this game is the 1080p resolution that I can use with my new Sony XBR4.

Excellent action! Multiplayer very strong!

Quite possibly the most fun I've had on a console. I'm a big war-based FPS fan and Call of Duty 4 really delivers. The single player is a great story, but where this game really shines is the multiplayer. Nothing like putting three M-16 rounds in some guys head as he tries to run from one building to another or across open ground! Do yourself a favor and get this game!

Nuclear Arms for Everyone......SCARY Thought!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 2 / 2

Just the thought of All out Nuclear War blowing out of control is scary as hell. COD4 totally engrosses you in a storyline that revolves around the sales and launch of nuclear arms, and what the British SAS and The Marine Corp does to stop it. If you take a minute and think about the storyline and the scene of a Nuclear bomb goin off in the game, you got to wonder if these are issues troops are currently battling around the world. Pretty scary how the game mimics real life but enough about that.

The all out atmosphere of war in this game is realistic beyond anything I've seen. Warfare through the streets is incredible with Terrorists utilizing their cover to gain advantage over you. Walls are torn down, Bullets are zipping past you from all angles and going through walls, Enemies handling RPG's tryin to hit you from rooftops, Enemy's letting their canines after you, fellow troops are dropping like flies or running left and right to find cover from the bullets. Combat in the country side levels is realistic also, with the feeling of wide open space, but with the worry's of getting sprung up on with out notice. The games diffulty even on regular and the amount of enemies coming towards gives you no choice but to think like a military man, take cover like a military man, and take the right advantage to advance like a military man. Some of the levels will feel like your going to be held up on one spot forever because of the amount of enemies shooting at you. I realized that after you have picked off enough enemies in an area where your pinned down the enemy respawn rate will slow down a bit and you will be able to advance to another spot but do it quickly before the system speeds up again. Moments like these represent what troops go through in Iraq, you've got to wonder if the firefights through the city streets are this intense in real life, cuz I tell you one thing it wasnt easy going through the games levels.

A.I. is incredible compared to other games. The enemy has a mind of their own, tactics of their own. They will Duck, Run from cover area to cover area, throw grenades at you when you and troops are holed up together, Blind fire above hiding spots and around the corners of walls, melee you when they have a chance, and at times try and find a way to get you when you least expect it. AI from your teammates is pretty spot on-They will do the same exact thing that the enemy does but, they will go as far and call out positions of the enemy, they will take initiative and move up when allowed the chance, and lob grenades everywhere. War is a team thing and your squadmates wont even move to next checkpoint unless you move up first.
You can't call out any orders and in every level you have someone leading you and barking orders. Calling Orders would have been a great addition with a headset in this game but i feel voice recognitions in games need alot more improvement to make it more life like and responsive. Only game that did Ok that I know with VR is SOCOM. Even if that were to be implemented the games levels and goals to accomplish would need to be more spread out and much more complicated to give Voice Recognition a good testing in firefights.

Graphically, this game is a classic Masterpeice. The city streets and the way they are littered with Dust, rubble, metal barrels, garbage dumpsters, torn down walls, bullet riddin walls, beds on floors, T.V.s, broken mirrors, bathrooms, it's as if life was once teeming in these areas but now they are run-down war-torn areas. The country-side levels are just pure eye candy. The Trees are numerous, Rocks look like real rocks you would see on a mountain side, and the grass is as if each peice was created seperately to move with the wind, Tree trunks are as if you were standing in front of one. Everything in this game is a sight to behold. Now this is this pure power of a CELL PROCESSOR....regardless i still think it can do better.

Gameplay I'd have to agree is incredible, responsive, and the game is short. No replay value on the game itself, but multiplayer I'm pretty sure is what gives it the replay value. Sorry Ladies and Gents haven't gotten down to Multiplayer yet no access to NET to give you a opinion on that. Just the single player itself makes me want to play it again. To be honest when it comes to FPS's im not a multiplayer kind of guy, kinda suck at FPS's in matches.....but practice makes perfect.

Intense Modern Combat

This is one of the most intense shooter out there. fantastic graphics that immerses you in the battlefield. even though you can get the same graphics with the xbox 360. i actually bought a playstation 3 just to play this game. i would of bought the PC version, but upgrading my computer to run this game at 6-fps is gonna be expensive. there is nothing better than a mouse and keyboard combo for a fps. i still am not use to a controller for shooter, it just doesn't have the accuracy i need for certain situations like intricate head shots. even though i can buy a xbox 360 for much cheaper and many more games, i chose the ps3 version because one of the main reason i bought this game is for the multiplayer mode. i really do not want to pay $8 dollars per month on Live just to play online. That's $96 a year for this game plus $50 just to play one game. Not to mention that Blu ray is the way to go.

I typically get owned online but occassionally I will sneak out a win here and there. I am almost at officer level. A must buy for any player. This game has endless amounts of gameplay.

Call of Duty 4 PS3 Review

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is one of the best FPS titles around, still with its errors it still shines throughout the crowd of games that would even make Halo 3 start to sweat.

Single-Player campaign spans from an Arabic country where you play as a USMC soldier fighting a terrorist army uprising that seized control of the country to Russia where you play as an SAS soldier figuring out that the events in Russia and the Arabic country are tied together somehow. Graphically its very impressive with excellent sound with guns firing to the music competition playing. Gameplay is very very intense with very few moments of peace unless its a sneaking mission.

Multiplayer wise is great, either playing online multiplayer Playstation Network or playing on split-screen local play or System Link LAN play, you get one of the best FPS Multiplayer games around. The interface is user friendly but it has some minor problems with networking and some of the interface. There are tons of maps to be played on and with tons of ranks to unlock that will bring you new abilities, weapons, and new challenges. The Create-A-Class feature is also interesting since your basically creating a class you like.

Overall the game is worth it a buy for any FPS fan but casual gamers might want to rent the game to see how it is first. Campaign is great but Multiplayer side can be worked on alot with the network issues going on. Still its one of the best PS3 games around to own.

This is simply modern war so get ready for the BEST GAME OF 2007 Yet..

Call of Duty 4 for the Playstation 3 is the best first person shooter available for the system, and luckily it's the best first person shooter currently out on ANY system. I don't see a first person shooter coming out anytime soon that could rival it, which is until Killzone 2 comes out (the sequel to Sony's best selling first person shooter, Killzone).

There are two ways to look at Call of Duty 4; the single player and the multiplayer. I will begin with the single player.

Single Player: Amazing visuals and surround sound help to bring you into the action of a modern military story. You play more than one character throughout the game, four to be exact, that spans an international story of nuclear weapons and terrorists. The game is presented in a cinematic style that the developers have used in the past. Unfortunately they also use their old tricks of scripted enemy "spawning" where you will face seemingly endless hordes of bad guys until you move up in the level enough to reach a point that triggers them to stop coming. This can be increasingly difficult and frustrating at higher difficulty levels but if you play on Normal difficulty you should be just fine with a good balance of challenge and fun.
The game does a great job of creating drama with the story, all without the use of traditional cutscenes. It's always presented through "your eyes" which can really help bring you into the story and helps you feel what that character is feeling.
The game comes to an amazing climax at the end and is one of the best videogame endings I have ever witnessed. And speaking of the ending, when you finish it, make sure that you sit through the credits that scroll by because you will get a BONUS LEVEL that is purely awesome.

Multiplayer: This is where the game REALLY shines and in my opinion is worth the full price of game for this alone. Chocked full of different game modes I don't see anyone getting bored of this anytime soon. It has the ability to play in a local LAN, split screen or even online over the Playstation Network FOR FREE. The Playstation Network has no subscription cost which is great. It even supports voice chat! I personally use a Bluetooth headset from Motorola for online voice chat and it works great. The PS3 also will allow you to use a USB headset if you prefer.
Infinity Ward (the game developers) have also done console gamers a real treat by putting in a realism mode into the game called "hardcore" mode. This mode is what I play exclusively. It gets rid of the HUD (heads up display), increases bullet damage, and gives the players miniscule health among other things. It makes you play more realistically and makes it so every action counts because one bullet wound can mean the end of the game for you.
My favorite game type is called Search and Destroy where one team must plant a bomb on one of two targets while the other team defends both targets. There are many, many more game types to play however.
Multiplayer also has a "leveling up" system where it gives you points for your kills and gives points for other things you can do in the game, like calling in a helicopter (or shooting down an enemy helicopter), planting a bomb, killing an enemy with a "cooked" grenade, among other clever things the developers have thought we may do in a game. After you have accumulated enough points you can unlock higher ranks which gives you more weapons, new "perks", and other added benefits.
Perks are a system that gives your player attributes that will help your game, such as increased accuracy, the ability to carry two weapons, increased bullet damage, extra grenades, and many more. These perks really add to the customizability of your character and can make everyone you encounter unique to their own playing style.
The multiplayer can become highly addictive unlocking higher ranks and new weapons!

Halo gets all of the praise for first person shooters like they invented them or something, but Infinity Ward has outdone that game with superior graphics and superior multiplayer fun in Call of Duty 4.
