Great game, but short single player mode

Activision almost hit a homerun with this one. Switching to the modern era rather than releasing yet another WW II game was a great idea. The story line is riveting, the missions throw all kinds of variety at you, and it's just downright fun to play. However, as others have mentioned, the single-player mode is EXTREMELY short, and for that reason I just can't give it a full five stars, especially given the price of the game. I just bought it yesterday and I finished after only a few hours of playing. Here's hoping that they release an expansion soon.

I have played all of the new FPS's out there and this beats them all hands down. The gameplay is only surpassed by the amazing graphics. I have never been so addicted to a game through the finish. The story takes hold and never lets go. I would definately reccommend this game to anyone who likes FPS! :)

Decent addition to the COD series, I like the change to modern settings. Single player is classic COD style, thrilling and intense missions. The game is short though and theres not alot of replay value after youve finished it. Graphics looks nice and runs smooth even on a low end system. Overall the game has a nice look and feel to it. Those are all the positives, all the negatives to me show up on the multiplayer side. Two major problems I have are the random respawns and size of the maps. Randomly respawning (constantly) right next to a cluster of enemies is irritating. Its OK the first few times but it starts to get annoying and repetitive. Combine that with the small size of the maps and you get the run and gun style of gameplay which is complete chaos. There is no strategy involved, basically everyone is just blasting away or its a spamfest of grenades and airstrikes. So if you want to jump right into the action then COD4 is for you. But for the rest who have played the original Call of Duty/UO, you might find this title a bit lacking if you are looking for teamwork and balanced maps.

COD4 is a good combat simulator,you will learn how to stay low,and kill the terrorists,this is just what America needs,a tool that will condition our children how to prepare for our childrens,childrens war.

This is simply the most spectacular thing to come off the shelves in years. It has everything going for it.

-Graphics: Mind blowingly realistic.

-Sound: The guns sound like they're supposed to, and let's just say that chill you get when a helicopter flies over your head isn't from the virtual wind that's whipped up.

-Balance: Nothing is too powerful, and you'll never desperately search for that "super weapon" to take out foes. Pistols dispatch foes just as quickly as machine guns, you'll just need to reload more often ;)

-Plot: Quite possibly the best execution of plot I have ever seen. When I got done playing, I was first astonished, then saddened, then I had to go tell everyone I know to buy this game.

People say that the SP is too short, but anything is too short when you can just run and gun your way through it on "Recruit" setting. I HIGHLY recommend playing on the "Hardened" difficulty setting. True, you'll die more often, but that just means you have to strategically take cover and rely more on your teammates than you thought. I'd say it doubled the amount of gameplay I got out of it and made the ending WAY more satisfying.

In summation, you will not be disappointed with this game.

Great freakin' game! I had heard the hype surrounding this game, and, though skeptical, I couldn't wait for it to come out. My first run through was totally exhilarating - graphics are great, gameplay is challenging, and the sound/atmosphere is pulse-pounding. In addition, there are a few surprises thrown in that I never saw coming. Great game - definitely worth the wait, and one of the best games I've played in a long, long time.

This game was top-notch. The graphics & action was something else. The Pentagon could use this as a low conflict & urban combat simulator.

Great game but when you play online the field of play is way to small. Good game in single player mode.

Great game. have loved all the CoD games on PC. Singleplayer & Multiplayer are both great. Could do without the Helicopters & airstrikes in multiplayer but overall play is excellent.
