The most realistic first person shooter ever made; arcade extras and online gaming are outstanding.

This is a great game. The only complaint I have is that the game DVD failed and I had to return it to Activision to be replaced. They said it would take up to 6 weeks to replace it. That sucks.

COD game is fantastic. In my opinion, this is the game of the year. The only knock is that it is a little short.
Amazon shipping was very slow for this game!
A great departure from WW2 games

The first thing I'll like to point out is that COD4 is not as demanding on your system as Gears of War, Crysis or Unreal Tournament 3.The mission environments are great and the ambience from the game is fantastic. Personaly I don't think the games AI stands out, they just seem to spawn over and over again until you move further ahead in the mission. The respawning made COD4 seem boring at first but I noticed that it only happened when I stayed in the same position longer than I should have. I loved the US Marine invasion levels of the game and the scene where a nuclear device was detonated has to go down as one of the great gaming moments of 2007 [If you don't beleive me look it up on youtube].COD 4 is the best game in the series and definately one of the best games on the PC right now, I will also refer this game to casual gamers who don't have the most poerful PCs.
Fantastic!

This game was all that plus tax. I loved everything except maybe it seemed to be too short. Probably because I was so into it. I love the COD series period, so this was icing on the cake. I'm a veteran and have to say it was so intense it gave me flashbacks of my tour in Iraq. The footage (some I've actually saw) was excellent (where did they get it from SF ha-ha). Anyway, You all don't have enough stars that I would give this game.

This is excellent playing, just WAY too short in single player mode. They spared nothing in making the world realistic, graphics are amazing, but when you really get involved in single play mode it's over. It seems long term play is not relavent to game designers for this genre, unless you're into online gaming.
Awesome Game

First let me start by saying that I haven't even completed the single player mode of this game. I played a little bit just to get used to the gameplay and decided that I was going to jump into the online mode.
This is an awesome game. Fast paced and well rounded, I feel that this game succeeds where some others fail. Unlike some other games, the weapons aren't completely skewed. You could get a player in a game with a rank of 1 and they at least have a fighting chance againse a 55 rank - even with the lower level weapons. Except for the inexperience it's pretty fair. But that's how it is in any other game.
Ranking up and challenges are a couple of ways to hold a player's interest. Custom classes are also pretty neat.
This game really runs quite well on my system (Athlon 64 3400+, 2 gb DDR, and a GeForce 6800 GT OC), while others like Crysis do not.
I would definitely suggest picking this one up.
Best first person shooter ever

For me, COD4 is the best first person shooter ever.
I liked that I could set all the graphics to high detail with a $100 graphic card and still be fast.
If the graphics are capable of "high," but most people cannot run "high," to me it does not count. What counts is what I can run.
Somehow, COD4 optimized the performance so more computers could run at high graphics.
And I disagree with Gamespot's suggestions for hardware. I think you need a lot less than the suggestions, and I certainly have less than the suggestions and yet everything is high detail and full speed.
Extremely fun

When I saw this only had four stars I had to review it. Since the intimate details have already been drawn out at length several times over I won't go through all that stuff, I'll just discuss what I liked most about this game.
I had fun in this game because it has a lot varied scenarios and missions. It jumps to different characters in a plot and even has a flash back to several years earlier (the infamous sniper level).
And the level that takes place entirely in grainy black-and-white as you fire different sized shells at ground targets I thought I was extremely fun. I forget which aircraft you're in while doing that (I'm sure I'd be corrected anyway).
The plot, as the title implies, is in modern times or "current day". The plot lines are similar to a season of 24 (middle eastern terrorists play with nukes along side some Russians). I loved the cinematic style and jumping between perspectives.
I haven't tried a lot of the online stuff, but gaining experience points to customize your character is a rather awesome idea.
If you enjoyed CoD 1 and 2 (we try to forget 3) you will like this one. This game is not Unreal/Quake/CS, and shouldn't be (don't complain if that's what you were expecting).
