I was a huge fan of COD 2 and currently love COD 4. The campaign, while a little short for my tastes, is very intense and unlike any first person war campaign that you may have played. But COD 4 is at its best when you play online. The online play is extremely addictive with the addition of gaining points for your experience. The added ability to call in air strikes (when you kill 6 people in a row) really keeps the gameplay interesting. The concept of gaining experience is really cool since it unlocks more guns and special features. Overall a great game, if your thinking of getting it, buy it, you won't be disappointed.
Amazing. Intense. Thrilling.

I just finished playing this through the single player and it is absolutely insane! I haven't even tapped into the multiplayer--although shorter than I hoped it's certainly longer than your standard 2 hour movie and far more involving! It really feels like you're in a movie in this game. A+
too much like watching a soap opera or movie. unrealistic

Made for console. Not enough options and over to fast without litle planning or armament options for different missions. Felt like I got walked through. Like watching a frustrating movie. Very boring.
Call of Duty...Still the best

Call of Duty has been a series of World War II first person shooter that's always been fun to play and very engaging. The atmosphere created by the great graphics and mind blowing sound effects, and the added sense of teamwork the game shoots for, made Call of Duty the hands down the best WWII FPS. Now, the series is stepping outside the historic setting of the "Great War" and it's heading to modern warfare. Call of Duty 4 stays true to the series without being a simple upgrade from the last games. An awesome game for FPS lovers, war shooters, and obviously for Call of Duty fans it's a must have.

This is going to be succinct:
More detailed and realistic than Far Cry, Halo, and the Unreal series but not as laborious as the Clancy series such as Ghost Recon. In my opinion it is the perfect balance between realism and playability. Multiplayer is a hoot, and the single player is fabulous.
I have mid-range hardware (Core 2 Duo, couple of gig of ram, and a GeForce 8600GT) and it runs just fine.
With respect to the single player missions, I *really* like working with the lads to get a bit of payback for our fallen brethren. The game will force an emotional investment early on and then use it to really pull your chain. You'll see fairly early on.
Call to Duty 4 (My Opinion)

I have been a fan of all COD games. I love the WW II era so I had reservations about Modern Warfare. Wow, what a game. Single player is great but online play is really improved over any I have ever played. I recommend a buy on this one.

Excellent game, my only two complaint is how short the game is and the multiplayer, no co op, just your typical shoot em up , die shoot some more, nothing really fun or cutting edge there.
Other than that its a great game. It has air strike bombing, a realistic approach to sniping which is really well done using camo to hide from sight, and the grunt shoot em up in between. Really makes you feel like your there.

Call of Duty 4 is a great game. Every aspect of this game is great except one thing. The game is too short. I finished the game within a few days, and it left me wanting more. A game that leaves you wanting more is usually the sign of a great game.

Didn't find this to be very exciting. WWII scenarios were much better IMHO. Maybe a bit too quick of a pace for my taste. Move quickly and shoot fast. Not much else.
