Well, i dont care if the play books might be the same, but this game is the BEST football game out there right now. Its got the best graphics, better from last years graphics, and the detailed player descriptions are the closest thing to real life. YOU WANNA A FOOTBALL GAME? GET MADDEN 2002!!!!!!!!!!!!1

WOW, AFTER JUST PLAYING THIS GAME OVER 1000 TIMES I'M CONVICED THAT THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER. EVERYTHING, FROM START TO FINISH IS EXCELLENT. I HAVE ONLY FOUND A FEW FLAWS. THE FIRST ONE IS SINCE WHEN DOES COURTNEY BROWN TRACKS DOWN MARSHALL FAULK? PLUS, SINCE WHEN DOES CHARLES WOODSON CAN'T TRACK DOWN SAM GASH? THIS IS A MAJOR FLAW THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. BIGGER SUPER BOWL CELEBRATIONS NEEDS TO BE ADDED ALSO AND THERE SHOULD BE HIGHLIGHT REELS AND THEY SHOULD DO A PREGAME SHOW. ALSO THE COMMENTARY IS JUST PLAIN AWFUL. OTHER THAN THAT EVERYTHING IS EXCELLENT.

IT [STUNK]! its just that simple. Its not worth buying your better off getting madden 2001. Its cheaper and in my opinion its way better.

MADDEN 2002 I THOUGHT PERSONALLY 2001 WAS BETTER.REASON BEING IS THAT THE PLAYERS ON 2002 ARE WAY TO SKINNY.2001 LINEBACKERS WERE HUGE,2002 LINEBACKERS LOOK LIKE RECIEVERS.I SOLD MY 2001 MADDEN SO I CAN GET 2002 MADDEN ..BOY WAS I STUPID.DON'T GET ME WRONG IT IS A GOOD GAME BUT THEY NEED TO IMPROVE IN SOME MINOR AREAS.

This game is probably the most addictive game I have ever played. The key, though is to couple it with NCAA Football 2002. Using the Dynasty/Franchise modes, you can create yourself as a college player, go through school, then get drafted (via the games export/import feature) by an NFL team. I have had absolutely no interest to play anything on my PS2 but these games. It's incredible addictive.
I am running concurrent seasons in both games. I created myself in NCAA and played the first season and saved the draft class at the end. Then I simulated the first season in Madden and imported the draft class, then took over the Houston Texans. Now I'm running concurrent seasons and plan on drafting my character once I come out of college.
One quibble is that there is no way to keep historical records on a game-by-game basis. I assume this will get implemented in future releases.
The point is if you love football, this game is your thing. Get it with the college game. If you ever had dreams of being a star football player, this is the game for you. It's completely dorky, but it's totally fun.

I admit, Madden is a great game, but ncaa football 2002 is better. ncaa football 2002 has EXACT same game gameplay except it has dynasty mode, it has SO many more teams, and it shows mascots. hey, but I admit, madden 2002 is a superb game. If you like pro football, definetely get this game. Or if You do not like college football, get madden.

This game is probably 10 million times better than NFL 2K2.Who cares that 2K2 has online play.Madden will have it soon as well.2K2's players look like big apes!Madden's players look lifelike.Madden whoops 2K2 in replay value because of so many features and options.If you would rather get sega's garbage than this masterpiece go see a docter.Buy this game and you will see why it rules the football gridiron.And sega, Why Is Randy Moss always on your cover in about the same position every time.Oh yeah i forgot in one of them he is catching a ball.Ha!!!
