I got a demo of Jak and Daxter in the mail today. After poppin' it into my PS2 I was pleased with what I saw. Similar to Spyro the Daragon but with more maturity...in a way. The graphics are great and the colors are brilliant. There is no draw in on the background with just a little bit of a fogging technique used. It's a ton of fun to play and the extroardinary detail and gameplay makes the game more addictive. The main character has moves much like Crash Bandicoot but better. I was amazed with the fluidity (yes, fluidity is a word)of the games graphcics and the textures. I think that the older audience will find Jak and Daxter quite addictive. The one thing that iritates me is that i don't know how long the game is but from the demo movie, the creators of the game said that it took three years to make so hopefully it is a long game. To sum it up, Jak and Daxter should be on your Christmas list.
Great Game!

Jak and Daxter is by far the best Platform game out for any of the next generation systems right now. The gameplay is very similar to that of Naughty Dog's Crash Bandicoot games. The graphics are excellent, and there is plenty of places to explore, and things to collect. After collecting my first 20 orbs in Jak and Daxter, I must admit that this is one of the coolest games I have played in a while. Wait until you try to get over the lava canyon, or have to catch the fish (you old school gamers may remember the Atari 2600 game Kaboom, its very similar, even though its only for a short time (unless you stink at it ;) )).....this is truly cool stuff!!
The sound is typical Naughty Dog Fair, and doesn't really add to or take away anything from the game. At one point, I could of sworn that it was the same music from Crash Bandicoot.
The saving feature in Jak and Daxter is great, it saves you the frustration of having to restart the level, when you die. This is great because the levels are huge, and it makes the game much easier to play.
Overall, I like this game a lot, its a great looking game, and its a blast to play! I can see Naughty Dog using Jak & Daxter as their next platform game, of which many sequels will be made.
And yet another great game for the PS2!!! Eat your heart out

I just received my playable demo of Jak and Daxter and have gone crazy for this game ever since. The graphics are perfect, the game is FUN, it runs VERY smoothly, and there are NO LOADING TIMES! That amazed me the most. I have played the demo 16 times and I am gonna play it some more. It's just so fun and beautiful. The controls are great and there are many fun objectives that you actually want to complete. When I said no load times earlier, I mean't NO LOADTIMES WHATSOEVER! Everthing just runs seamlessly and there is never a dull moment. PS2 owners, DON'T PASS THIS UP! X-box or Gamecube owners, GET A PS2!

This game is simply wonderful. Brought to you by the guys over at Naughty Dog, (yes the guys that made Crash Bandicoot). Speaking of Crash, if his games were this good, then the first one would still be played! This game has free roaming, it's a world where you can go anywhere whenever you want without waiting for loading times and cutscenes. The game's gameplay is also good, going from a run straight into a kick is seamlessly smooth! It's funny too! If you want to see more buy the PS2 Winter Jampack!

JAK AND DAXTER: THE PRECURSOR LEGACY is a fun adventure/role-play game brought to you by the makers of CRASH BANDICOOT (Naughty Dog). Let me tell you, this game is fun! It's filled with lush 3D graphics, an interesting storyline, funny characters, and tons of stuff to do. You play as Jak with your sidekick Daxter. In the beginning of the game Daxter gets transformed into another form. He now looks like a cute rodent and it's up to Jak and him to find the Blue Sage to transform him back. Along the way you encounter the Green Sage and he gives you a bunch of missions to complete that will restore the land. By completing the tasks you'll also get rid of "the bad guys." JAK AND DAXTER: THE PRECURSOR LEGACY is filled with challenges to keep you on your toes but they're not hard. The challenges are a lot of fun and Daxter is soooo cute and funny. He keeps you entertained though out the levels. JAK AND DAXTER is definately a fun filled adventure that everyone will enjoy.
A Very Good Game

This is one of those games that I had fun playing through the entire game. There were a few moments of complete frustration where I had to put it down and come back the next day...but it was worth it. I didn't find anything to be repeatative or boring. It brought me back to when I first bought a DreamCast and played RayMan 2. I would definately suggest this game to anyone who likes action/adventure/platform styles games...it's a lot of fun. I gave it four stars because of some of the frustration I encounted. More than just a rental, this game will take you a little while (unless, you play it all weekend or can rent it for 7 days...then it's a rental). Unless you are crazy insane for this game, you will only need to play it once. I traded mine in for Drakan after I was done.

Naughty Dog, the creators of Crash Bandicoot have created a new adventure game that is even better. Jak and Daxter are on a quest to collect power cells and precursor orbs. The quest begins in Sandover Village; from there you will travel throughout a vast 3D world filled with all kinds of different environments.
The graphics on this game are amazing. Remember how awesome Crash looked the first time you saw it on PS1. Well this reminds me of that feeling. The controls are easy to get used to. Jak and Daxter have several different attacks and jumps. The camera angle can be moved using the right analog stick to view from any angle you choose. Each level is huge and I spent a good amount of time just exploring.
It will take most people about 18 hours to get through this game. It will take longer to get all 101 power cells though. Believe it or not Daxter is actually funny. From the moment I got this game I played nothing else until I completed it. It is very addicting and has good replay value. Jak and Daxter also appeals to all ages of gamers. This game should be in everyone's collection. Bring on the sequel.
Funny and Entertaining

There really isn't that much to tell about Jak and Daxter for the PS2. The whole thing is pretty straight forward. The two are off on a Lurker inhabited island where they shouldn't be and this is where Daxter undergoes his transformation and the adventure begins.
The two must travel to find a sage who may be able to change Daxter back to normal. During their journey, the pair must collect tons of Precursor Orbs that are primarily used to be traded to other people for Power Cells, which are essential to their travels. Punching, spinning and jumping are the skills that will help you defeat your enemies. "Eco" is also a main part of the game. Some Eco will increase your movement and fighting abilities, strength or health. The downside is that the Eco effects are temporary, so you must be quick and decisive depending on how much you absorb.
The overall graphics are very nice and you will appreciate them in different environments such as, snow, lava, jungles, beaches and more.
The game play itself is relatively easy and you won't ever have to worry about "Game Over" from dying. You're also able to save at any point you choose. The enemies are not that hard, but the bosses are where the real fun and challenges are. The comedy and the dialogue are very well done by all the characters. To sum it up, I would recommend this only to gamers who are in the mood for a relaxing and fun game; nothing too aggravating or complex. What's refreshing about this title is it's overall simplicity. It won't take you too long to beat either if you go at it. Look elsewhere if you want deep and twisting plots and difficult game play. To the rest of you, give this one a try and have fun.
A Great Game

INTRO.
This game is about a young teenager named Jak and his pal Daxter, who get into lots of trouble...
While tresspassing on the forbidden Misty Island off the coast of Jak and Daxter's home, Daxter falls into a pit of a substance known as Dark Eco: a powerful and destructive force. But just when all hope is lost, he comes flying out again. Except, this time, he's a small, furry, orange creature called an Ottsel, a cross between a weasel and an otter. And both their lives start going in a VERY different direction. The village's sage reprimands Jak and Daxter and says that he doesn't have the power to change Daxter back to his original form. (Daxter, of course, is horrified.) The Green Sage continues on to say that the only person who could change Daxter back was another Sage, one who studied Dark Eco. The only problem is, nobody has seen any of the other Sages in years. So Jak and Daxter set off on their quest to change Daxter back to his human form.
GAMEPLAY
This game, right off the bat, is very fluid. Jak moves like a real person, and the time transitions are well done and look beautiful. The graphics are great and so far I have encountered no glitches in this game. The music is catchy and seems to fit right in with the area Jak is in. (For instance, Sandover Village's music is kind of bouncy and happy, while Rock Village's music is kind of sad and depressing.) The controls are easy to use and I have no complaints about the camera angle either. Yet another good thing is that there are NO LOADING TIMES! I hate it when you go in a room and you have to wait 7 darn minutes to see what's in there. This game, I am proud to say, hosts none of that. The gameplay is almost perfect, except for a few things. The game was...well...more than a bit easy. And while I don't like super hard unbeatable games, this game took a short time to complete. One other bad thing is that to power up various machines in the villages (Such as the Zoomer and the Levitation Device) require things called Power Cells to get going. Unortunately, you have to work for every one, unless you have the money to pay for a select few. That takes quite a while, since the number keeps increasing to make it harder. and unless you know where every single Power Cell is, then you're just going to have to puzzle it out, and that can get tedious.
PROS AND CONS:
Pros:
1. Jak's movements are fluid
2. The different areas are really well done
3. Sunsets, sunrises, etc. look real.
4. Catchy music (Although it can get annoying if you listen to it for a while)
5. The camera angles are good and the controls are easy
6. No glitches so far
7. No loading times
8. The plot is pretty good and the characters are actually original
Cons:
1. This game is easy
2. It's very short
3. This is just my own thoughts, but I wish they made Jak talk in this one.
4. Looking for Power Cells all the time can get boring
OVERALL
I'd say that you should at least give this one a try. Rent it if you're not sure, but buy it if you think you are.
Easily one of the best games ever made

Jak and Daxter... is an amazingly sweet game! Being brought to you by Naughty Dog, the creators of the Crash Bandicoot series(that doesn't even COMPARE to Jak and Daxter), you know it will be an amazing game. The graphics will amaze you and the voice acting is perfect! There are no loading times either! It is very fun and entertaining and some parts are actually funny. It's fun to go around collecting all the power cells and riding around on the A-Grav Zoomer is fun! Just riding that is better than buying Grand Turismo 3(which sucked by the way)! There are nearly infinite possibilities on creating strings of amazing combos with many different moves and attacks! All the strings are incredibly smooth while looking somewhat choppy in other games. Jak himself is 4 times more polygons than an entire screen in Crash! While you're waiting for Final Fantasy X, pick this game up! It's so good you might want to take a break from X to play it! Though doubtful. Buy this game it is a must have for any gamer!
