I though that this game was one of the best games that I have ever played. the good thing about this game is that if you look on the internet for cheats and stuff you will find even more possibilitys for each player. I think that this game is for people who like action instead of killing things. tony hawks is a good choice!

I think this game is great, great courses, great skaters, and great fun.The only reason I didn't give this game 5 stars is because it needs more courses.I would of loved the feature build your own skatepark.Other than that I think yo should buy this game.

Absolutely Coolness!

This is still a great game in it's own right. It has been superseded by it's sequel and I would recommend newcomers go for that game because of its extra features. But that's no excuse to write this game off, it has completely different skateparks, so if you have played the sequel to death and want new levels to play on, you could do a lot worse than check this out.

The Kind of Game You'll Play Long After You've Finished It

THPS is one of those games that you can't stop playing for weeks. I remember the first day that I bought it, I played until midnight and then remembered I had to go to school the next day and stopped. That day I couldn't learn, I just was thinking about playing the game. Finally, 287 hours later, the bell rang and I ran home. I didn't do my homework, told my mom that I didn't have any, got some popcorn, soda and chips, and went to my room and played the game until midnight again, the same thing happened all week. The reason for this happens is simple, the game is near perfect, no wait, I'll re-frase, it IS PERFECT! The graphics are good, tricks are very well-done, levels are all fun, the pros you can be are good choices, and the soundtrack is so wicked awesome. I also think that the plot was good, and how many sports games have plots? Yeah, like NONE! And when you beat the game, instead of saying, "Okay, what do I do know?" you say something like "Whew! that was sick! I want to go and check out that huge gap in the Downhill Jam level."

So, if you like Tony Hawk, get this game. If you like skateboarding, get this game. If you like skateboarding video games, get this game. If you like sports games, get this game. If you don't like skateboarding, get this game. If you don't like sports games get this game. If you like or don't like anything I just mentioned, get this game. That means, anybody, everbody! If you can hear me, go Get Tony Hawk's Pro Skater!

The game that spawned numerous sequels and rip offs

Extreme sports video games, up until the year 2000, were usually extremely lacking. The games often suffered from poor play control and graphics, and seemed rushed. But at long last, in the year 2000, Activision set out to correct all that had been done wrong previously with such titles. They went the extra mile to try to make the perfect skateboarding game. Did they succeed? Read on for my review of Tony Hawk Pro Skater.

PROS:
-UNLIKE A NUMBER OF EXTREME SPORTS TITLES, THIS ONE USES ACTUAL PEOPLE! As the title of the game may have implied, Tony Hawk is a playable character. In addition to Hawk, there are a number of other pro boarders selectable.
-THE GAME USES ACTUAL MUSIC BY ACTUAL BANDS! Most extreme sports titles feature lame, generic music that sounds like it would be better off elsewhere. In this game, that is NOT true. Bands like Goldfinger and Primus contributed music to this game, and their contributuions are one of the things that make this game so great. The other bands that contributed aren't as well known, but their songs are no less excellent.
-NO TWO CHARACTERS ARE EXACTLY ALIKE. Although every character plays in a similar fashion, each one has his or her own special moves. Likewise, what one character may lack in one area he may make up for in another, while with another character it may be vice versa.
-THERE ARE A NUMBER OF INTERESTING LOCATIONS. This game's settings are another great strength that it has. You'll go everywhere from an abandoned warehouse to an abandoned mall, and even a dam! There is no shortage of cool places to go in this games.

CONS:
-CONTROLS TAKE SOME GETTING USED TO. If you've never played any game by Activision that uses this same game engine, expect to take some time adjusting to the controls. Once you get the hang of them, though, you'll end up liking them.
-LATER ENTRIES IN THE SERIES WERE CONSIDERABLY BETTER. Although this was a good game, the later games were better, featuring more characters (and some even cooler secret ones), more secrets, and more music. Oh well, this game is still good.
-THE GAME GETS TOO HARD, TOO FAST. This game starts easy, but gets hard after a few short play sessions. Expect to blister your thumbs a lot, and often times accomplish nothing for it.

OVERALL:
Overall this is a very good game. Sure, it's overrated, but that's because it's a good game! If you want the best skateboarding games out there, the games in the Tony Hawk series are exactly what you're looking for.

WOW!

This game is by far one of the best games I have ever played on the Sony Playstation. (with the exception of John Madden football). The game play is extreemly good. Plenty of levels to attack, yet it is still a challenge once you "beat the game" A great two person game with many different options ranging from a trick attack (most points wins) graffiti (most tricks wins) and Horse. You even get to be a police officer if you are good enough. I highly recommend this game for anyone of any age.

DO NOT BUY THIS VIDEOGAME...

...unless you want to spend all of your time thinking about grinds, ollies, and combinations. This game is totally fun, but very addictive. Ya know that feeling (for those of you who are "older") you had when you first played Tetris, and you'd see the shapes in your head when you were trying to sleep? That's how I feel about this game.

It's easy to start playing, but difficult to master. This is absolutely the best game I've ever played on the PSX.
