This game is a very fun game and the best WW2 pilot simulator, if you are stuck between this sim and another ww2 flight sim, GET THIS ONE!
Good graphics but not much fun.

This game is o.k. they could have done a bit beter at the action and fun. The planes are pretty fun to fly. To aim at other planes you have to have very good hand eye cordination. It is the type of game you may play only once per month.

This sim requires PC capabilities well beyond those advertised by MS.
It has potential if 3rd parties develop proper aircraft performance and gun ballistics.
My system is AMD 2G/512 DDR/GEForce3 Ti200 64. The graphics card is just satisfactory after upgrading NVIDA current drivers. Prior to that stutter and not much more.
Not enough system performance results in degradation of aircraft handling. It is clear that a new video card of GEForce 4 or ATI 9700 PRO is required for designed sim performance.
Missions were designed by persons without a clue as to reality. Repeated attacks on a well defended target is suicide. A P-47 for a truck or tank?
Low angle gun attacks into a heavy AAA area. MS needs help.
MS went away from a very good CFS2 target and indicator system wihin the cockpit. Because it was necessary to get frame rates.
Another major problem is that G can only be seen with lots of other data not required in a dogfight. The CFS2 frame rate and G were much better. Unless simers are actually experiencing G sitting in front of their screen. Never can tell.
3rd party programmers can fix to a sim better than CFS2 plus a robust computer and graphics card.

Has Potential, But....

The Sim has lousy sound, poor control over external views? If these were fixed then I would no doubt play it more. Go with "Forgotten Battles" & all the add ons, its spectacular.
BEST FLIGHT SIM EVER !

As I am waiting for my shipment to arrive, since I purchased CFS3 via Ebay, I am now wondering if I made a terrible mistake in buying this sim so soon. After reading so many negative reviews, I feel that I may have done so. Yet, some of the reviewers did not mention the systems they were running to operate the sim, but I will see what happens when I load it on to my 1.47 Ghz, 20G hard drive, 64Mb Nvidia Gforce2, 1G Ram, system. I am also an avid flyer of Il-2 and will unlikely find any other sim out there that will touch the superior quality of Il-2. Maybe Microsoft should take some lessons,eh?
Great, fun, and easy

I dont understand why people are complaining about this game. I love it. The graphics are fine, but that is probably because I have a brand new Dell, which probably works the best. I havent played IL-2 yet, and it may be a good game but in my opinion; CFS3 beats it. I am not very excited about CFS2 becasue it is the same missions the entire time. Nothing exciting about it at all. I guess it is also because I am more interested in European air battles than in the Pacific. If you are considering buying it and you have a new computer(1-2 years old) than you shoud buy this game. This is the best game I have played in a long time and hope there are more like it. In conclusion, I give it two thumbs up(not stars, thumbs) so buy it and have fun!

Have seen the comments by others on this sim, many are so right,I like others had immediate trouble, loaded ok and then informed me my video card was not compatible, its a 64 meg pci Radion ATI. After reading the comments, called ATI advised them of the problem, they got me on to their website, downloaded the latest driver and bingo, all was fine.
The graphics are very crisp, their is no jumping or hesitation on the game, the game play is not easy, an awful lot of button pushing to do, I was fortunate, I do have a Microsoft Joystick and this made it again easier.
The selection of aircraft is fascinating, so if you,re having trouble, call the manufacturer of your video card or whatever you,re having trouble with,ATI was very cooperative and knowledgable.
Its really a pretty good sim, but, MS could have done a better job, I paid 28 bucks for it with a 10 rebate, so no complaints, the value is fine, just dont give up on it, if I fixed it so can anyone. When you get right down to it, it can be a very interesting sim.
Save your money

The promise is great but I can't even get the thing to run. I have a brand new HP computer and it tells me my graphics hardware is not up to par. This has been the most difficult program to install/run I have ever encountered. I've had every prior version of FS/CFS to date. MS needs to fix it. Very Disappointed.
UPDATE: It won't run because MS does not support Intel graphics. How much more mainstream can you get than Intel!? And MS doesn't support it!?! I hope a fix is coming for this soon.
