give this game some time before third-party developers make it playable - buy it in a year.

this is just a complete waste of money. if you like 10 year old graphics-quality, this is the game for you. Even with a brand new system, and the low-quality graphics, it still has herky-jerky flight characteristics. I really don't know what to think about the positive reviews?! It's just bizarre...
GREAT Game!

I know that a lot of the reviews on this game are around 2 stars or so, but I think that it deserves 5 stars. It seems very realistic and is very fun to play. My favorite thing to do is "Quick Combat," and I especially like the detailed ground targets. I really enjoy this game and would highly recommend it!

Despite the negative reviews, it's a great game. The other people don't know the meaning of the word "graphics". The aircraft and ground units look awesome. Great choice of airplanes also.
I think this game is the best Flight Simulator. I haven't played CFS1 but I own CFS2 and I think that CFS3 is much better than both.

zzzzz what a sleeper. Based on the millions MS put into the pre-marketing of this "3" release, I was expecting a great deal more. The a/c just don't fly anything like the real thing. I know, I fly a P51D. Controls are sloppy, unrealistic, and frankly there should be some compensation with targeting when the flight sim itself is so poor. What this means is you'll be making dozens of passes at one target - if you set the unlimited ammo to "on". But that doesn't count for missles and bombs - once you empty the rack you're done.
I don't know. It seems all they did on this release was re-arrange everything. The clouds are awesome I might add, about the only improvement. All else went the other direction...

I have 3 sims and this is my best. It has a ton of planes such as P-51, P-38, P-50, JU88, ME 262 and more. I was very glad when it came. You can be a gunner, bombardier or pilot. I disagree with most of the reviews. The campaigns are great.

Microsoft should have put all the effort into Combat Flight Sim II, Pacific Theater, now that's a fun combat flight sim. Anyway buy either of the IL-2 Sturmovik combat flight sims. Those games get 10-stars. You're wasting your money on CFSIII, I'm sorry I did.
Combat Flight What??? No, not a simulator

First, this game has great graphics, although, way to demanding on the video card. I have a high end PC (AthlonXP 1.8ghz, 512MB DDR Ram, GeForce3Ti500 64MB DDR) and i could't get the graphics to run smoothly on anything above the average setting.
The flight models really, in my opinion, [stink]. A great game, but definately not a sim. Got to make you wonder why FS2002Pro was [$$] and this is only [$$]. I guess price says alot. IL-2 is [$$] in stores, and is alot better.
Overall, microsoft flopped.
This is a horrid game

I have always been a fan of the microsoft flighsim series but this CFS3 really puts an end to it. The graphics are great and the planes and everything is really good but the campaign missions are all the same. Dont buy this game. CFS1 was the best...Nice and simple, non of this other lead your campaign poop.

CFS2 was intense and a lot of fun. Really looked forward to CFS3 but was greatly disappointed. My first impression after struggling with graphics setup was that it seem more like an update of Jane's WWII rather in the next step up in the CFS series. Flight modeles, cockpit, aircraft functionalities like trim, War Emergency power, dive brakes etc either don't work or work half as well (realistic) as CFS2. Having to relearn all the keyboard controls was a real pain also. As far as fun is concern, straffing ground target is Ok for awhile but the flak even set at low with gunners at novice will get you all the time in QC. One hit and you lose control in about a min w/ no ability to glide or crash land - just drops like a rock! I am going back to CFS2 or better yet I am going out to buy IL2 and sell my CSF3!
