I agree with every reviewer who has had problems with video card incompatibility, stuttering graphics, lifeless game play, long load up time, etc. MS does not elaborate on the requirements necessary to run this game. I am sure that Bill Gates is having fun running the graphics full blast while collecting huge profits from the rest of us. On that note, don't trust those who give this game 5 stars, they probably work for microsoft.
I don't agree.

I can't agree with all the terrible reviews for this simulation. I do admit that I was initially dissapointed with it, but the more time I spend with it the better I like it. I did find it necessary to "tune down" the graphics, even though I'm running it on a fairly high-end machine, so I wouldn't consider this if you don't have a high end VGA and a lot of RAM. Even with the graphics turned down, I find the ground features compelling. I don't find the flight model "arcade-like" and there is a definite difference in the way different planes handle. I would be inclined to agree, though, that IL2-Sturmovik is a better simulation, and so I had expected a little more from this game than it delivered. I haven't experienced any crashes, but I did have stuttering until I adjusted the graphics details. If IL2 wasn't around, I would consider this the best combat flight sim to date.

Many system conflicts. I had to uninstall it to make my computer function again. A HORRIBLE HORRIBE program. Anyone looking for a flight simulator should AVOID this product like the plague. Go instead to a dedicated site devoted to flight simulators.

I had expected this to be a worthy replacement for my SUPERB, much-loved but now outdated and largely unusable Jane's "WW II Fighters" game. The Jane's game was a Mustang. This is a rickety Spad. Poor functionality. Target identification and acquisition, weapons selection are cumbersome and dysfunctional. No target view. Half the keyboard commands don't work properly. Dowloaded updates and fixes from Microsoft, and it still sucks wind. Utter CRAP.
What were you thinking, Microsoft?

The copyright date on MCFS3's box should be 1993.

Don't buy it.
We own a new Sony VAIO with a 2 Gig processor and 500 Gig hard drive, and the game won't run. Tried all the MS online fixes and recommendations...and the opening video plays...and the screen locks. I also own FS 2000 and Combat FS on this machine...which both work fine. The MS online help is available for a price that equals the cost of the game. Look, I'm probably commiting Operator Error and I'm not aware of the fix. So be it. After two days of this nonsense, this game has exceeded my interest level
Great Fun After the First Week

I too had trouble with graphics and was initially dissapointed. I have a 2G P4 computer with 512 MB memory and a Nvida 64 video card. I had to add a detonator driver from Nvida to get my machine to run the game well. My settings are all on 3 except for a 4 on plane details in the graphics settings and the game runs great.
It takes some work to get everything right but once it is set up the game is far supperior to CFS1 or 2. I prefer online gaming and sighting is more realistic and the guns shoot at a trajectory that is also more realistic. No more shooting planes from impossible distances or shots without allowing for bullet drop at distance.
The realism seems better as well. The graphics are great, the flight models seem more realistic, and the game is pure fun online.

This is without doubt, the worst flight simm I have ever flown. I hate the virtual cockpit, to have to push a button on the number pad for the head down is bad. This makes landing the aircraft a joke, the only alternative is to have the gauges overlay on the windshield, oh so realistic??????? I'd rather have the usual thing of being able to see the gauges and out the front window at the same time. It completely ruins the whole experience for me. I've reached the rank of Maj.Gen. on Janes USAF and I don't even want to fly this disaster of a flight sim. I'm using a Pentium 4 w/256 meg of ram, XP OS. To have worthwhile graphics
this game requires at least 1 gig of ram which isn't even mentioned anywhere. I'm sorry I bought this POS.
