First off, lemme say, whoever thought this game was that hard was not utalizing the game controls, theres a thing called bullet-time (MP's signature) and with it this game is a breeze, and also very fun. They added a new feature, shoot dodge, with I used A LOT, it allows you to press shift, then you will jump right, left, forward, or backwards depending on the key you press afterwards, and it happens in bullet-time (doesn't take up bullet-time fuel). Its really fun to jump around a corner with a couple Desert Eagles and blast a room full of gang members to peices (the rag-doll physics are also outstanding) Secondly, people have said this game has poor programming which is completely false, I have a P4 2.4mhz, 258 ram, geforce4 ti 4600, and all the graphic controls were either medium or good althought my comp specs arent even up to the recommened area, I've played games with half the graphics on the same comp and they lagged a lot worse than this game, I have to comment Rockstar on the great job they did in this department. The ONLY complaint I have is that it is WAY to short. WAAYYYYY to short. I beat the game in little under 6 hrs, with movies/stills. Half-life was 20hrs, and at the time the graphics were outstanding. They should have just MP and MP2 one game, becuase it really makes me mad when I pay 35$ (best-buy price) and get about 1 hr worth of gameplay for every $5, (not including extras that come after you beat the game, although I grew tired of them rather quickly) Overall this game ran very smoothly, and was well worth my time, althought maybe not my money for the shortness. I give it a 4/5, -1 for the length.
Excelent Game, I Can't Believe How Short it is

This is one of the best games I've ever played, no doubt! But I wonder, why such an amazing game happens to be so short????
Please, Rockstar people, give us some more! I wouldn't mind if you release a 4-CD game, it's worth!
Im waiting for Max Payne 3.
Congratulations, Rockstar and Remedy.
Just not good enough

There are two cool things about this game: the cello theme music, and the Havoc engine. The Havoc engine is what makes all the objects in the game interactive. You can move bottles, kick over chairs, blow up cardboard boxes, etc. Almost all of the objects can be interacted with. Unfortunately, the coolness feature of the Havoc engine isn't enough to hold up this game. The story is very weak, and I found myself skipping through it because it was so boring and slow. Max's lines were cliched and tired, and the dialogue was horrible. But then again, perhaps that was the intent. It just didn't win me over.
The aiming style takes some getting used to if you've been playing Quake all your life, and the feature of "bullet time" where everything is slowed down (ala Matrix) makes it very easy to dispatch enemies. The other poor design of this game is that you have to beat it to unlock more difficult play modes. Everyone starts off in easy mode and you can only adjust it by going through the entire game once. As for me, I didn't find the game exciting enough to play a second time around, and don't know many people that would. Difficulty settings should have been unlocked from the start.
This game would make a great demo to check out the cool effects of the Havoc engine, but as a feature game, it just doesn't hold up.
Wow!

One of the most satisfying games I've played.
The graphics are perfect. I noticed hardly any bugs in the whole game. The ragdoll effects are stunning. The music is hypnotic and the overall sound was awesome in THX. The characters are great (Vince being a little like Joe Pesci in the 'Lethal Weapon' movies).
On a high end PC it don't get much better than this. I certainly didn't want it to end.
Highly recommended.
Great game but too short

If you played the first Max Payne then you're going to enjoy this but be warned it's short. The graphics are breathtaking and luscious. Gameplay is fast and the story helps to keep the pace up. A new bullet time feature is now part of the bag of tricks that Max has and Mona is perhaps the most gorgeous female PC character to come around since Lara Croft. Overall, I had a blast but I wished that there was a bit more than the 8 hrs. that I ended up getting from this game. If you haven't played the Max Payne series then pick up the first one as well and sit back for some fun!
Fun.

This game was really fun. Tt didn't have the same feeling as the first Max Payne, but it did have an excellent new element which was quite mystical, i must say. the graphics are pretty good, but the characters are really glossy which was kind of stupid, but it's a good game, buy it.
Perfection

I don't know how anyone could not like this game.
On newer computers this game is a site to behold.
Every graphic detail you can imagine is here. There seem to be some problems on older computers. But if you have a new system this game is
flawless. I have not found a problem. The only game out now that
even comes close to the graphical detail of Max Payne 2 is Far Cry.
New to this version, is a second playable character Mona.
There are points in the game where you play as Mona,
and have to cover max and keep him from getting killed,
pretty fun.
The Sound: From voice acting to the sounds of the guns
and everything else is fantastic. I bumped into some spray paint cans and knocked them down a set of stairs.
And you can hear the little ball in the spray can banging around.
If you love film noir and or John Woo kind of action
you can not miss out on this it tops the original.
5 stars. Rockstar games has done it again.
I just can't say enough about this game. I love it in every way.
Hopefully this will start a trend of noir games.
Entertaining Sequel

Overall this is a great game, graphics, sound, controls, and the storyline are great, I think the original max payne and part 2 break out even, Max Payne 2 is just a little bit better graphic wise. I expected this game to have a longer storyline, maybe even a mutliplayer feature, but there's not, it's not a big deal, it's still an entertaining game, just make sure you save a lot because it's easy to glitch yourself in this game (i.e walking out a window on the ledge and end up falling off into a closed off alley) then you have no choice but to restart or load the last checkpoint, so remember to always save.
AHHHH! MOBSTERS! AND RUSSIANS! AND BAD COPS! AND THEME PARKS!

If you liked the first one, you'll like this one. It doesnt deviate too much. The graphics are updated, there's a couple new guns, blah blah blah.
The Dead man walking levels are pretty cool and a good addition to the game. At the price that the game is now, if you're into action games, it's well worth buying.
Great Sequel!

Max Payne 2 has all of the gameplay qualities that made the original Max Payne great. It also has improved graphics and some very interesting levels (like the funhouse).
