This game is amazing, u get alot of weapons, like 40 or 50! And yes I do own this game! I got it on the 15th, ... the gameplay is pretty good, but the graphics are a little worse then gta3, BUT FUN AS HELL! The only complaint I have about this game is that you have to use the analog sticks to move around...

I just wanted to say this game rules. Even though it is not as good as GTA3 (Which nothing can beat) it is still a good ol' fashion arcade beat 'em up type game. I bought this game today, and I had cheats. I finished it in two hours! It was so cool 'cause I had a cheat to skip missions and more cheats like invulnerability and decapitating punches (That is sooo cool and sooo bloody). And some missions I skipped, and some missions I played. So I suggest buying this game if you're a hardcore arcade beat 'em up style person. But BEWARE: This should not be given to kids under 13 (I think 13 years + is better than 17 years +). There is a lot of blood and gore in the game. If you're into that stuff, buy it. But if you want to be spoon fed with a kiddy game, get that, and be a little wimp. Buy this now you teenagers! You'll love it 'til the day you die!
This game is more exciting than GTA3

I played this game at my friend's house and it was the coolest, and funniest game I've every played. This game actually keeps you awake. Compare people walking down the streets to rioters looting with screams in the backround cause of the Corperation or something else. This game is so cool. This game is also awesome with cheat codes.

this game is really fun. its fast paced and violent. what more can you ask for? it even has a setting with no gore, for you tame people. it's a lot of fun with a nice replay value. in my personal opinion, its not as good as GTA3 (Grand Theft Auto 3), but since no game is as good as gta3, it isn't saying much

this is a great anger release. a fun game where you get to beat people up.
Grand theft Auto 3 may be better, but this is still awsome.

Nobody honestly expected this to topple Grand Theft Auto 3 did they? If so than you should be ashamed of yourself. Grand Theft Auto 3 has a legacy and series of cult followers behind it, this is a new title that is in it's rookie start. SO obviously this would hold some flaws.
Now that we cleared that up lets hit the official review. This game is not only awsome but immensly insane. Never have I seen so many weapons and so many characters on the screen at the same time. the graphics are a little cartoony but still portray the insanity that rioters hold. You have the Corporation death squad on your trail but that doesn't matter because they are easy to take out, however they do get smarter, and you must avoid ambushes.
I will say that this game is difficult, and sometimes frustrating. For example in chaos mode you have a time limit do what is needed. More than likely you will not accomplish your goal within the time period.
Revolution mode also holds it flaws. The story is minimal, and also the plans that the group "Freedom" set up are not very well planned out (in the mall I can recall 3-6 ambushes).
Overall though I gave this five stars because it's not only fun, but very unique, and I can see the hardwork put into this. Here is a hint to do better.
During the game do these combinations quickly.

Trust me it will make things a lot easier.

Rockstar games can produce some of the greatest games in recent memory. When they do as good a job as they do on Grand Theft Auto III, then there is a masterpiece let loose upon the gaming world. State of Emergency is one such game, Why? you ask. The concept of the game is essentially that the country has been seized by an evil oppressive corporation and you have to do missions throughout in order to cause chaos and havoc. The game is essentially mission-based taking away from the free-roaming that was given in GTA III. But, the fact that there can be about 200 people on the screen at once adds to the fun of being a face in the crowd...but still a dangerous one. The graphics are cartoonish, but still impressive. The Entertainment and Playability are good as the controls respond really well when you fight among the rioters and it's fun to play. The replay value is rather moderately high as it is a quite enteraining game. But, the bottomline factor is the game is still quite violent and Gory and not for the youthful gamer or the weak of heart. So try the game if you like it...buy it...enjoy!

When I bought this, unfortunately I was still in the full glow of having played through Grand Theft Auto III and salivating for something from Rockstar in the downtime before GTA IV comes out. So having seen the screens and some of the movies, this looked interesting and thought, "It's Rockstar. It's chaos and anarchy! It has to be fun."
Well, I should have checked myself, buying before renting (which I'm usually much more careful about). The game is fun for about the first 15 minutes and then it loses all of its appeal. You don't have the open active environment that GTA III had and you get motion sickness after a while watching 4 million people run around you.
I think this would have been more fun maybe five years ago. GTA III has raised the bar for this kind of game and anything less than it seems shallow and hollow.
Rent, do not buy.
Rent, don't buy.

With ringing denunciations from Sen. Joseph Lieberman and other social watchdogs, State of Emergency looks great on paper. The numerous explosions and cool crowd engine make the game look great in a demo, too. Unfortunately, the game play is ill-thought out. The missions rely on rote memory rather than skill, the set-ups often seem contrived and repetitive.
The shoot-em-up Chaos mode is amusing, but the other supplementary games are equally frustrating. The "Last Clone Standing" game was a bit disturbing-even for people who like senseless violence as much as I do. The mission of this game is to "Kill Corporation Clones" the only problem is that the clones are unarmed, they don't fight back. They cower, they huddle, they run and scream in pain.
I can't give any game that includes optional indiscriminate use of a flamethrower a completely bad review, but State of Emergency is a game that, once played, quickly looses its appeal.
