The game is suppose to play like no other game prior. And from the screenshots I'd have to say it looks super fun. 250 characters on the screen at the same time??? What the...? Will the makers of Grand Theft Auto 3 and Max Payne let us down...??? Doubt it. Chalk up another winner and pre-order!

This game is sheer brilliance according to the proffesionals in magazines/media! I can't wait to pick up my reserved copy tommorow after-noon. I only have one thing to say, if it even rivals Grand Theft Auto III, then I'll be happy!!!

Another hit LIKE GRAND THEFT AUTO 3

I think this looks like it'll be very good. S.O.E. wont be as good as GTA3. The reason why is because GTA3 had to downgrade and get a edited version. (Which Sucks) but I already got the original. I'm getting S.O.E. for sure. It looks killer

Please come up with something original.

This game can't be that good. It plays around the same concept as GTA3, only the idea is no longer fresh. GTA3 was a great game, but most people have already played it to death. This game will have to be absolutely great, in order to make up for it's lack of originality.

Could have been more, but still Rocks!

First thing's first....Do not expect another Grand Theft Auto III. This game is very different. In fact, there are only a couple of small similarities. I'll get to that in a second. Here's the game in a nutshell.

There are two modes of play. The first mode is Chaos mode. In this mode, you pick your character and your area and you go cause as much damage as you can. You can play with a time limit or you can play Crazy Taxi style, picking up time bonuses and health bonuses as you destroy and kill more and more. At times, a very excited voice will tell you things you can destroy to earn extra points for limited amounts of time.

The second mode of play is Revolution Mode. Again, pick a character and starting in the mall, you are given missions to complete, similar to GTA3. But, the missions have not nearly the depth and variety as the missions in GTA3. And they get a little repetitive, one of my two problems with SOE. You end up doing a lot of missions which involve escorting someone to one area, protecting the area while he/she performs some function, and escorting them away. They can be a little monotonously difficult. But I totally suggest starting out with Revolution Mode to get the feel of the game. Then grind into Chaos mode and let loose with your newfound skills. You will have fun. I guarantee it.

My only other problem is something anyone who plays the game will agree with. There is no multiplayer mode. And a game with this type of arcade feel desperately cries out for one. I can only lie back and fantasize about trying to search out and destroy a friend through the 200+ chaotic characters running through the 3D maps (of which there are 4 nicely sized ones...Maps, i mean).

I love the game. I do recommend it. I disagree also with the people who say this game is harsher than GTA3. GTA3 is a much more realistic violent game. SOE makes a point to seperate reality from the cartoon.

good game

The Good: SoE is an enjoyable, playable (and replayable) game, and a great new direction for Rockstar Games, who're showing they can do more than GTA3 in creating a market of adult-themed games. You play any one of 5 rioters in 4 separate levels represented as different parts of a town (the mall, Chinatown, East Side, and Corporate Headquarters), running around in the crowd, using anything from trash cans to grenade launchers to create mayhem & achieve objectives. It plays pretty much like a run & gun arcade shooter - kind of a Crazy Taxi meets Quake, with plenty of deviant behavior (and blood & gore) thrown in for good measure. It has the sort of frenetic gameplay that, depending on your disposition, is either extremely stressful or a good way to blow off steam. The graphics are very well done, and the really huge numbers of rioters the game is able to put on screen helps create a sense of panic. Also, as you destroy more storefronts & cars and achieve more objectives, the security forces coming after you get more difficult, moving from beat cops to FBI agents to military troops to tall super-troopers dressed all in black.

The Not-As-Good: First of all, the camera, trailing behind your character, seems always to be an obstruction - it's never quite where you want it to be and becomes a hazard when you have a crowd of Corporation forces chasing you. Trying to steer the camera to aim my gun at troops while evading them is very hard. Also, though a simple two-button system for fighting makes things a little easier it sometimes turns the game into a button-mashing fest ala Contra, giving one that well-known gamer's form of carpal tunnel syndrome known as "Contrafinger". I've also found that completing the levels in Revolution mode (which unlocks new characters) takes forever and can be very frustrating if you get stuck on a mission, since there are no other missions to go & do.

All in all though it's well worth the money, especially if you enjoyed GTA3 & want to see what Rockstar Games has been up to for the past 2 years.

I think this game is the most revolutionary game to date!!!!
