HUGE LET DOWN

OK - the graphics are awesome. Stream is a pain... Hours to load!! Gravity gun is way cool, but that's the only cool weapon... It is not half the game half life one was... no pun intended. There aren't many new creatures, most of the fighting is with humans...ZZZZZZZ And they still have head crabs!! Come on - couldn't they come up with more?
Finally - why I gave it only 1 star is I finished the entire thing in 2 weekends..... It's too freaking short! The ending stinks! And it's not worth a replay... What a ripoff! HUGE ripoff!!!!!!!!!

The original Half-Life was a great game and this sequel is even better. The graphics are really fantastic, even on my low end system. My PC barely meets the minimum requirements but still gives beautiful graphics and fast action sequences. It also requires a fair amount of strategy to win, beyond just shooting everything you see. My only complaint, which isn't about game quality, is the "Steam" feature. It could have been better explained in the documentation. I had to install the game twice before I got it right. At first glance it appears that you have to subscribe to an online game service to get it to run, but that turns out to be not true. You do have that option, but it runs fine as a stand alone, single player game. To me it is much better than "Doom 3".

This is really an awsome follow up to Half Life. The storyline is great and the gravity gun and AI are both awsome. And it comes with cs: source which has brought me hours and hours and hours of fun after beating this game. If you don't like single player games you should still buy this and play cs: source because it is the greatest multiplayer FPS of all time.

Near Perfection

Recently a number of amazing first person shooters have been released, Halo, Far Cry, and Doom 3. Simply put Half-Life 2 is an entire step above these. The storyline is unmatched, the detail and mystery quickly draws you into the game. The presentation of the game is nothing short of cinimatic, the environment, characters and combat are great. The characters in particular look more like they belong in a movie than a video game. Additionally the physics of the environment add an entirely new dimmension to the game, a move that took Doom an expansion to duplicate. My comment of being near perfection only refers to the sometimes annoyingly often loading screens, and the more annoying than intriguing silence from the main character. These are only the most minor of shortcommings, simply put this is the best game you can buy with your money.

HL is the greatest game ever.

I was fiends with a guy who had teh source code cuz he bought it off ebay for a package of skittles and some money. I then used busy-as-usual basic to write hacks for teh game, so when it comes out I will always win. I tehn used jabba-scribt to preload the AI which I now use to power teh internet. I got to the end when this big ape came out and tuched me, so gordon shouted no bad tuch bad tuch bad tuch. Dis game could have ben great but the valve computers in FRANCE where hacked by JEFFK!!! who tehn went to Jerry's house for some pie. Also open eh consold and type "say allboys" to get michael jackson mode. It takes you tot eh secret neverland level where you have to save mickaly colkin from the evil flying glove.

From What I Have Seen about this game, I am sure that this game is going to set a very high standard for all the upcoming first-person shooters. I really doubt that any games will match it. Yes, including Halo 2

Except Halo 2 didn't take 6 years to get here. Was it worth the wait? The answer to that is a resounding hell yeah! In my honest opinion Half-Life 2 is one of the best games I've ever played. This FPS has it all, groundbreaking gameplay, astounding graphics, a surreal physics engine, an intricate puzzle solving element and lets not forget a riveting story that keeps your eyes glazed, heart racing, and your mouth watering. Once again Valve is able to elevate their new FPS into game history through developing genious. I cannot say enough good things about this game. I was skeptical reading the pre-release reviews but having played it I can honestly say that this is one of those rare games that ACTUALLY lives up to all it's hype. If there is anything I can say to Halo 2 fans out there, you're MISSING out. Pick up this game and start the addiction today, and yes, Half-Life 2 is the new pink.

Have to Play it to Review it

Many of us want to play the game alredy, but the delay make us anxious. I like to read about it, but something new. I cannot review ANY game I HAVEN'T played !

Is like saying: Yes!.. I know John from next door, he is cool and he can sleep over YOUR house. When in fact I never met him and he could be a total psycho.

I REALLY think that the LONGER a game takes for release (after a date has been set and MONEY has been separated [preorders] ) the CHEAPER it should be.

If you say that you will finish a job (in real life) by such date, and you DELAY you get financial penaties (you know what I mean).

Ie: by the time Duke Nukem Forever comes out, it should be FREE and come with a $134.74 bonus check for evryone.

If they are afraid the someone will crack their engine,, and make adjustments, i understand that. But to scrape off a tiny sector that happened to be more intelligent than the creators, should not drag into this HL2 crisis to other dumb player like me into it. REALEASE IT NOW!

the fact is: in time someone WILL crack it anyway.. take my money now !!!!! we wanna play it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

have a great day!

It hasn't been released but... this is one to look foward to

All right we all know that it hasn't been released; but I do think it's worth looking up on the web to see the videos. It looks truly stunning and breathe taking. Allot of people dropped the original Hl as soon as they got it. Because when it first came out it was just a bunch of death match, bunny hopping, and frustrating game. Since then the game has evolved and gotten better. The game became one of the best games you can possibly play; and it kept on growing. Eventually it outgrew it self and thus became HL2. HL2 has an advanced physics system that allows things never thought possible. Many people have said there is plenty of game's that are better then HL2; halo being on the main one off that list. I have seen several relations to halo. Halo and HL are nothing alike I have played both they are just different from each other, "You cant compare apples and oranges." But as good as a physics system Halo has it is no were near the capacity of HL2, a fully active gaming environment. If you shoot a stick in halo will that stick break apart with relations to were the bullet hit? The answer is simply no. A world-renowned psychologist makes the AI. He also made an infinite number of expressions to express all feelings in the game. But its stupid to make judgments without playing the game but in all and all this one is certainly one to look forward to.
