Sillent hill is with out a doubt the scariest game ever made.
Resident Evil is mostly just action and gore. This game is
Disturbing and will scare the s**t out of you.
The story is a little confusing. It got a little religouse to me than horror. The 2nd one was with out a doubt a doubt the most brilliant smartest survival horror game ever made.
3 IS also brilliant and smart. The game is also kina depressing when heather finds her dad. The over all basis of this game is scary as hell. Im not very hyped up for the 4th one. The story seems kina crumy.

So if you love survival horror game and arnt afraid to play it than buy this game now. You wont be dissapointed.

Easily the best of the Silent Hill games

As far as disturbing enemy design and atmosphere go, the Silent Hill series holds the crown over every other game in the survival horror genre. My only qualm with them was the slow dialogue and the confusing storyline. Thankfully, in Silent Hill 3, those problems have been fixed for the most part. You play as Heather, a 17 year old girl whose trip to the mall turns into a twisted nightmare of hideous monsters and alternate realities. Using what few resources she can find, she must make her way back to her apartment, then eventually to the town of Silent Hill to uncover her bizarre past. Combat is slow and clunky, but as with all games of this type the main emphasis is on story and riddles...not action. By the end of the game, the whole Silent Hill story finally starts to make some sense...especially if you've played through the first one. Though somehow the endings still seemed a little stale to me. The CD soundtrack is included with the game as well, and is a generous bonus. The bottom line: Silent Hill 3 is not to be missed if you are a fan of survival horror games.

Will Be Outstanding

I have played and completed both the silent hill's and I adore them. The atmosphere and the stories in both make them unique as far as I am concerned. As for the monsters they truly are innovitive and very disturbing. My partner never really plays computer games (too busy he says) has completed these games too get all the possible endings and like myself cannot wait for the realese of the third one. even if it is only half as good it will still be better than almost every other game out there. Buy Silent hill 1 and 2 you will not regret it and buy 3 as soon as it is realesed I know myself and many of my friends will.

In Silent Hill 3, you take on the role of a cheeky teenager living a normal life. At first, I couldn't believe my ears: the world of darkness was going to fall ot hip-hoppishness. As I played the game, I was highly satisfied that the game wasn't corrupted by childish attitudes. The protagonist, Heather, was realistically played without the overly abundant "whatever" chip on one's shoulder.

I was even more satisfied upon learning that this game ties into Silent Hill 1, and even goes as far as to clarify the vague plot. Dahlia is gone, but the cultists are back. It's interesting to get a fresh perspective of a bumbling teenager towards freakish, backstabbing cultists, and a clueless private eye. And yes, Harry Mason is also back - well, sort of. To keep the frustration levels down, there are only two different endings and a secret ending. I mean, who in their right mind wants to go through this one 50 times to get all the endings?

This time, the monsters are more otherworldly - except for our classic nurse friends and split-mouth mummy dogs. Some of the monsters are also downright hilarious, providing tension release from the terror of the game: the bloated, flabby, stumbling Cancer monsters, lightning-quick ninja mummies, and moronic - and strangely "cute" - two legged slug-like creatures with lamprey mouths. The atmosphere is also more otherworldly and strange, and the fear and tension levels are through the roof. The designers have also added nifty traps and nerve-wracking chases. The music and ambient sound is very exotic, and helps you really get into the game.

The world of Silent Hill is alive, with bleeding walls, rooms that try to kill you, and pits of nothingness you can actually fall into!!

As an added bonus, a soundtrack with hauntingly beautiful music was added. Many of the songs are environmental ambience from the game, while the rest is great music with great artists. It makes for many hours of enjoyment, and an unforgettable experience.

Better than the first two

And thats really hard to top. This game is scary, disturbing, relentless and fun at the same time, it makes you want to explore and kill more no matter how much s**t is in your pants. When I first rented this I was expecting a direct sequel of SH2, boy was I wrong, this is actually a sequel to the original which was a very good idea considering the second wasn't that good. The nature of this game is very original to the original too.
The monsters of this game are a completely different story however. They are AT LEAST 100x more disturbing than the monsters in the previous two and they ARE tougher...well that all depends on the difficulty anyway. For the beginner I would recommend easy action and easy or normal puzzle (depending on how much you want to be challanged) until you can get the hang of the game and work your way through the difficulties all the way to Extreme X (10).
The story of the game is much different as well. What I mean is that half the game you ARENT in Silent Hill and in half you are. The levels are The Mall, Hell Mall, Subway (minilevel), sewers (minilevel), Hilltop Center Office Building, Hell Office Building, Brookhaven Hospital, Hell Hospital, Lakeside Amusement Park and the Church. Each level is specifically designed to be harder and more disturbing than the last and trust me, if you thought the mall was scary then just wait until you get to the hospital. Right, the story. You play as a girl named Heather which you find out is a reincarnation of Alessa and Cheryl from Silent Hill 1 and she is needed by a mysterious women named Claudia. Heather then experiences all hell, you'll find out the rest 'cause I'm not gonna reveal everything, in fact I'm done. Good luck with this hellraiser.

What just happened?

Great game! Scary game!Bla bla bla bla..... very boring. I am a huge fan of horror games. But, this was very dissapointing.(A waste of 50 bucks) .Many people saying that it would give you nightmares! Hell no! The reason, I gave it two stars was because of the story and graphics. The gameplay is horrible. Combat is very weak, so you just run away. Also, there's like a million freaken doors, that have broken handles, and that's very annonying. It forces you to explore. The monsters just look wierd, not at all scary! I reccommended Clock Tower 3 or Residnet Evil X Code Veronica better!

poor controls - too bad

I'm not sure if I would have liked the game or not - the controls were so poorly implemented, that I quit the game after an hour of extreme frustration. I've been playing first-person and third-person games since Doom 1 days, using a PC. The basic mouse/keyboard control has long been perfected, but the game designers just don't get it. I routinely purchase a good made-for-pc first/third person game and _start off_ on the hardest level and enjoy the game immensely (Deus Ex I and II, all the unreal games, all the doom/hexen/heretic versions, all the Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series, Halo, etc, etc.) These games all have one thing in common: a GOOD adjustable interface. This game simply does not -- I tried various combinations/settings, but it's goofy indirect interface does not work for me. I just wish _someone_ had told me _before_ I WASTED $30 on it. I'll be adding KONAMI to my list of "AVOID THESE" ....
