HOLY CRAP! Do I love this game!!! The storyline is great and the graphics and sound rock! Although I am giving this a 5 star rating, this is not for the person who has the characteristics of the following: FAINTS AT THE SIGHT OF BLOOD, SCREAMS WHEN THEY SEE BLOOD, HATES BLOOD, PUKES WHEN THEY SEE BLOOD! Oh, I forgot something. If you don't like it when BLOOD oozes out of someones body, I recomend you stay away from this game. But, if you are the person who loves getting scared, loves GORE, loves BLOOD on anything and everything, and loves shooting monsters until they BLEED to death, THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU. Yes, BLOOD here! BLOOD there! Here's some BLOOD! There's some BLOOD! Everywhere some BLOOD BLOOD! BLOOD is the numero uno thing on this game. Even the loading screen is BLOOD! If you like gore and action and watching a hot teenager (that has BLOOD on her shirt) running around shooting and stabbing things, I recomend this game. This is the best game I've ever played! (Grand Theft Auto 3 is in a close 2nd! That game has a lot of BLOOD also!) I HIGHLY RECOMEND THIS GAME TO THE ACTION/HORROR AUDIENCE THAT HAS A Play Station 2! This game will scare the BLODDY crap out of you!!!
Oh my god...just shoot me already

Silent Hill 3: I'm not sure maybe it's just me...but This game sucks. I'm glad I just rented it and didn't waste my money buying it. When I was playing it felt like all my controls where ass backward. I gave it 2stars because of the soundtrack and graphics.
This game mostly retells the story in Silent Hill 1?

This game has pros and cons. I found this game the worst among all four Silent Hill games.
Pros:
1. The graphic is realistic, and is similar to Silent Hill 4.
2. The developers tried hard to produce sudden scary moments in the game, which is relatively absent in Silent Hill 2 and 4.
Cons:
1. This is my major complain on this game: Silent Hill 3 spent most of its time recapituating the story in Silent Hill 1. If you already know the story, it is boring to hear it again. If you have not played the original game, you will probably still be confused by the story. I hope the developers have added more elements in the storyline, but obviously there is not much.
2. The same old idea of normal world and alternate, bloody world still exist in this game. How innovative it is!
3. The story is the most linear one among all four Silent Hill games. You are instructed to go from one area to another area, sometimes without strong reasons. It reminds me of playing old platformers in 8-/16-bit game consoles. In the old games, after Stage 1, it goes Stage 2, and afterwards Stage 3...
I recommend Silent Hill 1, 2 and 4, but not this one. 1 and especially 2 have the best storylines. And 4 is pretty innovative. I like the idea of being shut in a scary apartment, and occasionally, you receive pieces of informations outside the apartment in Silent Hill 4. I hope that Konami will try to make another innovative Silent Hill series. The idea of alternative world has been very hackneyed.
By the way, Clock Tower 3 is a pretty innovative game. Try it out!
Plagued with flaws.

Ok, first off this game looks beautiful. The graphics, models, and sounds are all superb. Its just too bad everything else goes downhill from there...
And let me just say that this game is NOT scary. The monsters looked strange and funny. You have a fat naked blob. You have a tall skiny naked blob. You have a funny sounding 'dog' monster. You have a torso that crawls thingy. Everything looked strange.
And all those humanoids crawling with their shaking heads reminded me of a Tool video...
And seeing blood on every wall and floor is not scary. I get it... theres blood everywhere. Let me open up the next room and see, surprise!, more blood.
The only thing that gave me nightmares in this game were the doors. Every hallway you enter has 10 doors in it. Yet only 1 or 2 can be opened. And with the way the map works, you are forced to try and open every stinking door in the game for fear of missing an important clue inside it. You will be spending more time finding a door that opens than actually finding clues.
Plus the camera system in this game seems to be haywired.
I cant count how many times my character would run 'towards' the screen down a hallway and the only thing i can see is whats behind me. And everytime you leave a room all the camera shows you is the door behind you that you just closed. I hate changing the camera angle every five seconds just to see whats ahead of me.
In the end this game failed to impress me. It wasnt scary. It wasnt that good. And most importantly, it wasnt that much fun.
Revist the old to make it new.

Silent Hill 3 picks up the plot trails of Silent Hill 1 to provide the player with a better understanding of the mystery of this haunting place. The game action settings allows rookies and professionals to enjoy the game alike at their own ability level. The images are great. The shadows and the lighting add to an atmosphere of horror. I wish I could have wandered around more outside the buildings too discover more goodies like SH1, but the action inside makes up for this loss. Make sure to play this game with a saved SH2 game for a few extra tricks, and play the game with Cheryl in her "transformed" costume with Douglas using his "shirtless" look for a good laugh (need to play more than one time: PrincessHeart and up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, circle, X).
A VERY SWEET GAME

When I played this game, I was amazed! The graphics were the best you could get in survival horror games, the gameplay was incredible, & the sound gives you a very creepy feeling. The game time you spend playing it is decent, too. Also, weapons are the best you can have in Silent Hill games. I used the katana most of the time. I.... I just.... GET THIS AWESOME GAME NOW! GO ON! ORDER IT! IT IS A MASTERPIECE. If you could go up to 10 stars on this site instead of 5, I'd rate it 10 stars! YEAH!!!!!!! Whew.....

First I would like to start by saying that most of the reviewers that criticize SH3 or any other SH game are Resident Evil fans. I, on the other hand is a fan of both series and do not prefer to compare the two. So with that said I am going to start my review of SH3. SH3 is a well crafted game. The music sets up the mood just right, the graphics are superb, the story is unraveled at a right pace to keep you interested, and it also has a high reply value even after you beat the game. I was really impressed by its weapon selection. When I first got my hands on the katana, I got so excited and couldn't wait to try it out. I haven't gotten the light saber yet but can't wait to get my hands on it and slash away. Now here are some down points: I think the control system need a little improvement, oh, and that horrid camera angle. It takes a little time to get use to trying to get the right view. The puzzles are really easy to figure out but it fits the game so perfectly and its not there just for the hell of it, everything is well placed. So overall, this game is excellent, if only the control and the camera angles were improved this would be a 5-star game. And to all you strictly Resident Evil fans.. do yourself a favor and realize that SH is not like Resident Evil, but SH is following its own path and formula. Yes, Resident Evil is the one who started the horrow game phenomenon, but SH is starting something fresh and wonderful in its own way. That is why I love SH. Wait for it Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil Online.
The Best Silent Hill game since the first.

This is one great and scary game. Not only does it take what made the first two games so great and take it far and above anything seen before, but improves on what those games lacked. Not is it a creepy game from the start to finish but a smart and compelling one to boot.
Expect the unexpected, and you will be fine.
Another great creapy sequel.

Silent Hill 1 and 2 were great, but when you play silent hill 3, your jaws will drop and your stomachs may turn sick. I enjoyed playing this game, but the story line in it wasn't all that good. It was a tad bit lame and didn't have enough spunk in it to create a good scare. The music in it though was chilling and creapy, and the best part is, the game comes with the soundtrack for free! I suggest though that you rent the game before playing it.
A Great Game, But Didn't Live Up to the Silent Hill Name

To me, this seemed to be the shortest, easiest game up to this point in the Silent Hill series, which is kind of disappointing. 1 & 2 seemed to be more challenging in gameplay, and more in-depth in stories. SH3 just seemed to be loaded down with a bunch of extra stuff for AFTER you've already beaten the game. While it is FUN and kind of creepy (with great graphics and AWESOME music), I really don't think that it matched up to Silent Hill 2, or even 1 for that matter.
