If you wanna get your money's worth, I would recommend Red Dead Revolver. The graphics are something most gamers complain about, Which I could really care less about graphics. I buy a game for enjoyment not the graphic design! This game will sharpen your skills, includes moments with dueling sequences, (probably the most toughest part in the game.) The boss fights are challenging too. If most of you reading this review have played & finished Red Dead Revolver like I have, you might agree the last level was probably the toughest, When you duel with Govenor Griffon. But,I do offer a few secrets to defeat Govenor Griffon, if those of you haven't finished this game yet. Before the mission begins, select the WIDOWMAKER pistol. Then when you engage Griffon in the short boss fight, keep shooting at his head, this'll take his health down alot. Then when alot of his health runs out, the game will then go into a final dueling stage with him. You gotta be quick! After he utters his final words, keep the left analog stick held down, then quickly snap the right analog stick back to draw the pistol. Shoot at his leg first, then one shot to the chest should take him down! You might find better ways to do this, but this strategy worked for me. It only took me 2 tries to beat him! So If you wanna take on the challenge, Load up your pistol & Shoot the varmints!!

A decent game in an untouched genre

I was very pleased to see the advertisement for this game, I had been waiting a long time for a western shooter. Although I prefer first person shooters, it is still a pretty good game. The multiplayer is incredibly fast-paced, exciting, and addictive. There is a huge selection of characters to choose from.
The first person was excellent, a great challenge. The story is a bit thin, and seemingly incongruous at times, but then again, so are the speghetti Westerns it emulates. The music is strangely familiar and nostalgic, almost as if it was STOLEN from speghetti Westerns. The characters say hillarious, albeit depraved things that give the game a sort of "tasteless yet classy" aura.
The graphics leave a little to be desired. Acceptable, but a better job could have been done.
Overall this is a great game that I still enjoy a playing every once and a while.

This is a peice of garbage

I am in general very proud of what the boys at Rockstar have accomplished in there carear. The prestigious GTA and Max Payne series are no doubt the greatest in there genre. I have found that Red Dead Revolver falls far from the mark. This is just not an impressive game at all. The graphics are chopy, gameplay is repetative, and the characters are shallow and almost just a formality. The only highnote is that the multiplayer mode is a lot of fun but to truly experience a range of levels, characters, or weapondry with your friends, you need to play the monotoneous main story. In the end, it is just not worth it. If you are looking for a good Rockstar game, I advise Bully, or GTA. If you want a good western game, buy Gun. It is a lot deeper and cleaner. If you just want a fun game, I highly recomend Destroy All Humans 1 or 2.

WOW!!!!!!! I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD LOVE THIS GAME AS MUCH AS I DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No other game looks or plays like this; The missions and locations are varied and colorful; The villians range from a fat guy with dynamite strapped to his person to corrupt law officials; And, as usual, Rockstar keeps the game play challenging but not overly frustrating; Lots of unlockables offer high replay. This is one of the most unique and best looking games on any system, period. I still throw this one in every 6 months for another go thru. The story is straightforward and engaging; Lots of really interesting concepts(machinegun in the coffin, crazy midgets, that whole 'dead-eye' thing...)and it controls very well. Another great game from an outstanding company. Hopefully a sequel is in the works.

Guitars, Trumpets, Tubular Bells, Whistles, and yeah, GUNS!

Years ago, when I saw the coming soon posters for this game, I passed, because of Rockstar's rep in the Grand Theft Auto genre. I didn't want to patronize a company exploiting the desperate parts of inner city life.

Then I found out Red Dead Revolver had an authentic (okay lifted) spaghetti western soundtrack. That was the dealmaker for me. If you like the music of the films, get it get it get! The dwarves are just gravy to the story and the music.

Western Gaming at it's best.

Red Dead Revolver is, by far, one of the best Western games I've ever played. The game has an easy learning curve also. After an hour or so of play you will have all the controls down, and you'll be hooked or otherwise very interested.

It has one of the best story-lines out of any other games I know. Basically, a Western tale of revenge on a renegade Southern General and his Colonel. You play as Red Harlow whose father was brutally murdered right in front of him by Colonel Darien, again, General Diego's right hand man.

I wouldn't say this game is as bad as the rating makes it. There is no actual dismemberment, as the rating for "Blood and Gore" says, and the use of curse words is kept to a minimum. If you've seen any PG-13 Rated movies, the two could relate.

It's a fun time killing game, if you're bored, with great replay value for people who don't plan on finishing the single player modes. There are tons of characters to choose from in the multiplayer mode, both good and bad. The multiplayer modes are numerous also, including things like Showdown and Dueling modes.

The downfalls of this game are the short Story mode and the overall simpleness of it. There aren't many ways you can get creative with it.

But, the greatest thing about it I believe is: The sheer Hilariousness of it! Me and a friend sat and played it for more than 4 hours at night once, and sat holding our sides, crying, because of laughter. The midget clowns and the character reactions are funny. Especially how it sometimes glitches up. Once during a boss fight with a very fat character, the fat enemy got hung in a stairwell, because he was too big to go through it.

An Overall VERY GOOD game! You should buy this, and if you like this game, you may want to purchase GUN too. GUN copied off of Red Dead Revolver for the most part though. Both games have very short stories too.

If you like a good Western and great replay value, then you will certainy love Red Dead!

Great Western

This game is awesome. Theres a variety of places to go to. There's riding horseback, stages, and railroads but theres way too few of levels with that. They should have gotten rid of midget clowns its annoying to have those there considering it only takes one headshot for them. The way the levels are is kind of wierd since getting further into the levels shouldn't be there. Example chapter 15 will be hard but then chapter 17 will be easy. However i enjoyed this game a lot and u should too. It probaly shouldn't be rated M blood does come after almost every shot but its not much and doesn't stain anything. I reccomend this to anyone.

Entertaining, highly amusing, but too short.

This game was a long time in the making, and given the cultural popularity of the Western genre, it is surprising that a Western-themed video game should take so long to come to market. I had this game for a long time, but only recently got to play it, and when I finally got into it, it was enormously entertaining and I loved a lot of the spaghetti-western themed humor and musical score.

In the game, you will control a variety of characters (many of whom are introduced in the superb opening sequence, which plays much like the opening credits of a Sergio Leone western). Most of the time, you will play the part of Red Harlow, a half-breed bounty hunter on a mission to hunt down his parents' murderers. (Sound familiar?) You'll also get a chance to control a variety of other Western archetypes, such as the expert pistoleer English dandy, the sharpshooting, spitfire rancher's daughter, the Indian cousin of Red Harlow (who dresses like an Iroquois instead of a Sioux or other Plains Indian - but I'm nitpicking), the Negro Buffalo soldier, and you even get to play a bad guy when you assume the role of a renegade Mexican general.

The gameplay itself took a little time to get used to. For instance, to draw your gun, you must press a button down, and keep it held down while pressing another button to shoot. If you let go of the button which draws your gun, your character will holster his gun again. This was one of the quirks which made for an initially difficult learning curve. However, once the controls are mastered, combat is actually surprisingly easy. You can duck, hide behond cover, dive/roll, and jump. When guns are holstered, you can even punch and kick - and one of my favorite sequences in the whole game is the bar brawl (more stereotypical western scenes!) where you cannot use your guns, but must use fists and feet (and occassionally broken whiskey bottles) to fight your way to safety.

In addition to "normal" combat, there is a "showdown" mode which is dedicated to quick-drawing against one or more opponents. The highlight for this feature is a "tournament" (which seems inspired by the movie "The Quick and the Dead") where you battle ever-faster enemies until you win. This mode is sometimes very frustrating as you may have to replay again and again.

Overall, the graphics are okay - what helps make this title is the fact that the makers put in a grainy, old-style matinee look (like the game was a movie being played on an old-style (and worn out) projector, complete with hairlines and picture moving off-center at times. This little touch was very endearing.

While this title may not have a lot of replay value, it's still immensely fun and I would recommend it highly.
