I bought this game the instant I saw it on store shelves. Medal of Honor Frontline definitely lives up to the other MOH games. The sound, graphics, and gameplay are awesome. I have a fairly large interest in WWII history, and I have to say that the weapons animations, enemies, and allies are all pretty historically accurate. The only thing I have seen that is incorrect is the amount of troops on the beach in the D-Day level. It seemed that there were too few, but that is nit picking compared to what the game delivers. If you liked the PlayStation MOHs and the PC MOH, then this game is a must if you have a PS2. I recommend this game to anyone who owns a PS2, likes shooting games, or has an interest in WWII. There is no blood, so the game is ok for small children unless you're squeamish about shooting games.
a masterpiece...

This game is truly one of the heavyweights on the PS2 system, it is amazing. I rented it for a week, and I'm desperately trying to wait for the price to come down to buy it, but it's not easy!! I find myself thinking about it all the time!! From the games first scenes, which are incredibly intense, the game just continues to get better. It's a BLAST to play, and the missions are just hard enough to make it fun and not as frustrating as many games can be. I would wholeheartedly recommend this game as one of the best games ever made!

Finally! Dreamwork Interactive's blockbuster series has made it's debut on the PlayStation 2.
Reprising your role as Jimmy Patterson, go behind Axis lines and do battle in a whole new series of missions that take place before, during, and after the events of Medal of Honor.
With the release on the PS2, the levels exploded, nearly tripling in size. The enemies, of course, are much more intelligent. They amazed me with some of the actions they performed.
The most notable change, however, is the wonderful music. Composer Micheal Giacchino has given us 70 minutes of aural heaven. Listen to the sad, mournful opera on D-Day, or as you battle your way through Arnhem. Feel your heart race as the musical tempo picks up once your Nazi cover has been blown and you are forced to battle it out for your life.
But the biggest thing that Frontline has going for it is it's diversity. In one mission you are rescuing a POW, and in the next you are sabotaging a submarine base. This all culminates in a risky mission to capture the experimental HO-IX, a jet fighter so powerful it can turn the tide of war.
Don't get me wrong. This game, while excellent, is not perfect. Once again, Dreamworks has made the game too linear, making levels feel like roller coasters. Also, with the increased length of missions, Dreamworks should have included someway to save in-mission. They didn't. If you are one objective away from finishing the mission, and you die....you start that mission over again.
An excellent series debut on a new system. Excellent.

Well, you already know what this game is about and how great it is. I'm having fun playing, and my only complaint is the way the objectives are given during a mission - as you complete one you get another, and it can be real confusing trying to figure out how to pull it off. I suppose that is the realism of war ;)
What this leads to is replaying a mission over and over due to deaths, just to find out what you are supposed to do. For example, in the beach mission, it took me two or three deaths just to find the squad mates I was supposed to rescue. After that, I resuced the engineer (a bit later), only to run up the seawall ahead of the rest of the squad, and thus I missed getting my next objective (died while recrossing the mine field back to the captain), etc.
Well, at least the game really is fun to play so it isn't so bad seeing everything a bunch of times.

This is a really good game. You can be a hero of WW2... every kids dream. I played Medal of Honor Allied Assualt (wich is the same thing)and it sent such a surreal feeling through my body, I felt like I was on that battle field. Such a feeling made me realize what war is about, and that war isnt fun. But as long as im making a difference in America(whether is virual or actual) I am proud that that difference is for the best country in the world. So buy this game and fel like youve made a difference.

This game is the worst game ever. How the hell can you people give this game four stars?! It is so urealistic and just plain bad. Let's start with the first level: D-Day. The captain says "Jimmy go find four of our guys and bring them up to the seawall while I just stand here." The people in that game have to die, no matter what. Even if you stand in front of him, he will magically get shot and you won't even have a scratch. Then later on the captain says "Jimmy run across the minefield by yourself and take over the machine gun and kill all of the bad guys. Yeah, we'll cover you." Then you have to go in the buker by yourself and kill all of the germans. The game just pretty much made a game version of Saving Private Ryan. The AI is sh**. The germans just stand there and shoot at you. They take no cover at all. If you get close to them and they are weilding a pistol, they punch you. You got to be kidding me. Who the hell punches when you can just shoot the bastard. First of all you won't even live long enough to get that close to a german. You always go by yourself and that is just plain wrong. The creaters of frontline are pretty damn stupid if they think that is realistic. The levels feel like you are on rails even in the countryside. And only a burst of an MG42 can blow up a tank where as a rocket launcher takes at least four rockets to blow up. Unbelievable! This game is the worst, stupidest game in the world. It just sucks the hell out of realism and authenticity. Don't even think about renting it. And to the previous viewer who made a list about the bads of this game, you rock!!

I bought this game over a year ago, and I've only popped it into my PS2 on two occassions- once on the day of purchase, and once yesterday. The control system is so terrible that it makes the game nearly impossible to play, and completely impossible to enjoy.
Perhaps I wouldn't have felt so strongly about this if I hadn't already played the excellent "Medal of Honor: Allied Assault" on my PC, in which the player can use the mouse to aim. Other than that, and a few slight differences in missions, the two games are almost identical.
In "Frontline", the player is forced to use the analogue sticks to aim. To add to the confusion, most control settings require him/her to use one for moving the view horizontally, and the other one for moving it vertically. It is absolutely impossible, even on the easiest settings, to aim and fire 1/10 as quickly as the AI, making things far more frustrating than enjoyable. Furthermore, the speed with which the view moves is always either too fast (causing the player to zip right by his/her target), or too slow (causing the player to take a dozen rounds in the chest before reaching the target).
I've been annoyed by the unrealistically lightning-quick reactions of enemies in war games before (like in the original "Rainbow Six", for example), but this takes that annoyance to new heights. Not only are the enemies too fast, the player is too slow.
That said, I can't in good conscience give this game the lowest rating. The missions look sharp and the theme is always a good one. I also found the sound-effects to be quite nice. But there is no way I will ever subject myself to this awful control scheme again.
