I realy hoped this game to be better!

Since WWII is one of my favorite subjects I purchased this game with high hopes. Unfortuneately my expectations were only partialy met. With few exceptions the sets that were created for each of the levels are very nicely done. They tend to be visually interesting, realisticaly lighted and the sound track that accompanies each level adds a great deal to the experience. When a game of this nature is done well it will pull you right of your couch and into the game, so much so that you can actually forget that you're playing a game and hours can pass without notice. Medal of Honor Frontline succeeds in doing that in only a few levels. Most of the time the game play is so frustratingly bad that I feel I've wasted my time playing it. One of the things that realy bothers me is how inacurate the silenced pistol is. I first noticed this when playing the game on the hard setting. I would sneek up on my opponent and carefully place my crosshairs and fire from just a few feet away and miss completely. After this happened a few times I wanted to see how far off it was, so I found wall to shoot at and from about ten feet or so I fired off a half dozen rounds at the same spot and ended up with a group about a foot and a half across. From twenty feet or so the group grew to about five or six feet across. Years ago as an armourer for a tank company in the First Cav I had about 80 45 automatics to deal with and even thought they were all well used and abused, any one of them was capable of making a group only a couple of inches across. The bottom line is this weapon is useless and will get YOU killed qickly. It's also quite disturbing to shoot your opponent in the chest point blank with a 12 gauge shotgun or 30.06 BAR only to see them shake it off and shoot back at you. It's as if the designers of this game have no real experience with firearms of this nature and consequently, no idea of how devastating they can be. Overall I'd have to give this game a B+ for visuals and sound and a C- to a D for actuall game play. If you realy want a great first person shooter, pick up a copy of Halo

a pretty good game

This game is good. U get to go on exciting missions and levels. There are a lot of guns that u can chhose from and submachine guns to let off some steam. but the game is way too short. aiming is also harder than it is on the PC. I think Allied Assualt was better than Frontline mainly because itwas on the pc. the game has challenging spots like the first level in which u could barely hear what u r supposed to do. the places in which to complete objectives can be hard to find especially in cities. But the objectives appear on the start menu and if u clik select you can get hints about where to find stuff. Overall i think the game is good.

EA Sports has done it!

EA Sports has (in my opinion) broken out of sports games with this game and done so in a spectacular way. This game is awesome. The only problem with the game is how it starts you off storming the beach on D-Day, a tad intense for someone just starting on the game. GREAT GAME! BUY IT! WIN THE WAR!

THE GREATEST SHOOTER I HAVE EVER PLAYED HANDS DOWN

I had played the demo, and love it, then i bought the game the day it shipped, i had it on reserve, and now love it even more. The AI and graphics are incredible, no game compares to it, not even on computer that i know of. I have allied assault for pc, and although that was a great game, it doesnt compare to frontline. The controls take no time to get used to, although it is sometimes hard to hit a Nazi on your first shot, it only takes a bit of time to hit them dead on. The sound is also great, the best i have ever heard, the bullets and explosions are amazingly accurate. I CANT GET OVER THE GRAPHICS, they are so amazing. It is also amazing when you shoot a german, although there is no blood, it is just as good, they react depending on where they get shot, and dust flys from the wound. THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST SHOOTER I HAVE EVER PLAYED, AND PROBABLY WILL EVER PLAY UNLESS THE MEDAL OF HONOR STAFF MAKE A SEQUEL, WHICH I AM SURE WILL BE BIGGER AND BETTER THAN FRONTLINE, IF IT IS POSSIBLE. GREATEST GAME IN THE WORLD, GO OUT AND BUY IT RIGHT NOW!

Destroying tanks, killing, good storyline, fun game to play. Absolutely explosive at first. Then it goes to the regular first person shooter scenario for a while. All in all a good buy for about 6 dollars.

disappointment

I dislike this game... the only good level is the storming the beach level...very intense...but after i played call of duty..it left me wishing call of duty made a storming the beacxh level...can u imagen?..call of duty is a far superior wwII game..this is way too linear..and in war u dont fight all by ur lonesome...ur surronded by men a lot..

this game is too linear..follow the path shoot shoot..and it would be ok...but i found myself getting incredibly frustrated.. i get frustrated with a lot of games but if it frustrates to tyhe point where i just say "screw it" and sell it...its bad..im not a great gamer...i suck at games, ill admit...but still

Difficult and unrealistic (combat) but still fun to play

First of all, if you want to know what it was like storming the beach of Normandy, this game will sort of show you in an unrealistic way. I say this because you will probably be shot about twenty to thirty times during the fifteen minute beach fight. It's not a problem though, because all you need to do is pick up medical kits and "poof" you're healed instantly. You don't even need a medic.
The game does have a LOT of HUGE levels which are beautifully rendered. You walk by hundreds of French houses, churches, etc. You battle against German soldiers, cooks, secret police, tanks, etc. While doing so you will be shot CONSTANTLY! Almost every level has at least two or three enemy snipers who shoot at you from very far away. It takes at least a few seconds to locate them in the gloom. All the while they are taking pot-shots at you and your health is dwindling. I found the game much more enjoyable with the invincible code on.

Despite the constant irritation of being shot, it is fun to go through the levels and shoot all of the enemies. I found the controls difficult to work with at times, especially in very close combat. You have a disadvantage against an opponent who is less than five feet away because you're getting punched or shot and it's disorienting enough without fumbling with your controller.

The game also could have used a multi-player mode. I'm very disappointed that it didn't. It was fun enough to play through once, but I'm not sure how long I'll have to wait to play through it again.

I'm not going to get into the story line or all the "cool stuff" you can use. As a seasoned gamer I was impressed for about the first five minutes then the thrill wore off. The beginning of the game is right out of "Saving Private Ryan" and it is intense. Once you get off the beach and into the bunkers you see the same linear paths that you had in MOH, and MOH Underground. Walk, shoot, pick up thing, rinse and repeat. The game is supposed to stress accuracy and with that in mind I have to ask...Why, when I am raiding German positions, am I picking up ammo for my Garand (.30-06) and Thompson (.45) when I should be finding 8mm Mausers and 9mm Schmisers.
Now let's talk about the bad guys. In a word...STUPID. Picture this. You're in a hardened complex. It's dark, rounds are incoming, explosions are shaking the dust off the pipes. Yet, even though you were in a crouch and moved as slow as possible, these guys still know you're there before you even get close to the corner of the hall. Add to that the fact that the cross hairs are jerky at best, and you're aim is being shaken by said explosions, and you can expect to take a few hits before you even site the target in and nail him. AND the bodies fade out. Yea.....accurate.
My opinion. If you're a first time "first person shooter" gamer or a MOH die hard fan you will probably like this game. If you are tired of the same old same old then don't bother. Rent it before you buy. Better yet buy Half-Life. It is also a FPS game but it actually has levels that require thought. Levels where, if you look, there is a back door around some untasty situations. Levels where moving slow and being stealthy mean something.
Am I too picky? YES. But I have been playing games since the ATARI 2600 was cutting edge and I have had more than my fill of the same old garbage.

Your call

I suggest renting this game before buying....It is a fun game but its replay value I found to be very minmal. Also the controles are not that great, they get by, but nothing special. Perhaps you'll love this game but I'm very glad I rented it before buying it because in my mind I'd be out [the money]
