Presentation 8/10
Very Nicely presented with excellent layout and overall design. The initial load time is long but the load times before levels are tolerable.

Graphics 6/10
Lackluster and slow. The framerate is slow and drops from time to time. Nothing is impressive--the textures, lighting, and particle effects are not anything to drool over. There are many better looking games for the ps2.

Sound 10/10
Excellent sound effects, voice acting and music.
The sound effects are great. Planes fly overhead, bullets whiz through the air, explosions send debris flying everywhere. It sounds amazing.
The music, as always, is beautiful.

Gameplay 7/10
This is a standard first person shooter. Nothing you havent seen before.

Lasting Appeal 6/10
No multiplayer drags the score down.

Overall score 7.4/10

This game is suited to a rental...

I was eagerly waiting for this game, being about 6 months since the PC version came out. Unfortunately, it was not worth the wait. While being advertised as completely differnet missions, there are way too many that are rehashed.

My biggest complaints are about gameplay. The missions are short, and the enemies are far too easy. During the opening mission, langing at Utah beach, you can stand up and run from one side to the other side of the beach on hard mode without taking severe damage. I personally think the game was made easier than the PC version becasue you can only save at the end of a mission. (another annoyance). This leads to short, easy missions. Additionally, since you use the right analog stick to aim, the control is jerky to say the least. There does not appear to be a way to set the sensitivity of the controls, so aiming at a specific enemy, or at a body part, is quite difficult. The enemies are so easy that on the normal skill level, you can run into a room that has 4 germans with machine guns and shoot them one by one. The AI seems ok at best. Enemies will not try to circle around you, even when there are other doors!

An enjoyable game, but maybe the PS2 was the wrong platform. After making the huge leap from Underground to the PC with Allied Assault, this is a step back. Enjoyable, but does not seem to have a ton of replayabilility. More a rental than a purchase.

The 1st level where u r on omaha beach is great...its unique and original. However after that it becomes the ususal...you are the only 1 in an area and its all up to you.. No one is ever assisting you and its just the same as other FPS (with exceptions) The graphics are great and so is the sound. I recomend you to buy it if you enjoy games like James Bond. But if you are looking for a game where teamwork is reguired throughout the game i suggest you put down the PS2 and go back on your computer and purchase games like counter-strike...ghost recon....Global Operations ect ect ect

So close to being great

I thought the graphics and the story line where fantastic. I could not get past the poor aiming capabilities of the game though. There was nothing worse then being riddled with bullets as you are trying to get the cross hairs to line up on the target you are trying to hit. Also, the AI doesn't compare to Metal Gear Solid's AI. There was no sneaking in this game, as soon as you turned a corner you where getting shot at.

On the other hand, The opening sequence should go down as one of the best opening sequences in a video game. That alone may make the game worth owning. Unfortunately it goes down hill from there.

This game has an excellant gameplay although it is bit difficult to get used to. Once you get used to it the game plays great the graphics and scenerios are so realistic it is unbelivable. Also it is very challanging even if you have it on the normal setting. I enjoy the weapons very much as they are very realistic. Also the score for this game is perfectly done as the light and classic effect makes the game overall great. The one thing I do not like is some levels are very long and may take thirty to forty five minutes to beat. But that is my only bad point on this game i do not like is the

This is one of the best first person shooting gmes i have ever played. The great things about it is the great graphics, wonderful controls, and awsome world war two weapons. There isn't any blood but if you ever watched "Saving Privat Ryan" and notice when the men were shot you saw dust fly off of them. Well that is how it is in this game which makes it look really cool. Sometimes when you shoot them in the head their helmet will sometimes pop right off. The game is also not super easy. When you toss a grenade at a german he often kicks it away. But you can also take off time between when grenade is thrown and when it explodes. You do several mission where you are all alone. But it is easy to survive with all the health lying around. Even though the enemy speaks german you can still see what they are saying by putting on sub titles. My favorite weapon in the game is the sniper rifle. Well that is all i can think of to write for right now, but the bottom line is if you like and love world war two shooting games make sure to get this game.

Let me start off by reccomending that some of the people who wrote reviews of this game take a course in basic spelling! Good grief people! Anyway, this is one of the most realistic combat games out there. The horror and excitement of front line combat in World War II was captured almost perfectly in this game. From storming Omaha Beach to rescuing the British Airborne during Market Garden, this game is like being in the middle of "The Longest Day" or "A Bridge Too Far". It isn't flawless, however. Some of the levels are very hard on the eyes and sometimes the sights of your gun will be directly on someone and you won't hit them. That's annoying. Overall, this game is a literal blast and you can become an expert on WWII uniforms and firearms just by playing. The history lessons at the end of each level are a somber reminder that real flesh and blood people had to die in order to stop the Nazi war machine. And I have a question for the less-than-intelligent gentleman who complained that you can't shoot your own men: why would you want to? What kind of sick sociopath are you? Get help! Anyway, if you have a PS2 and want a great first person shooter, you can't go wrong with this one. Hurry up and get here, Rising Sun!
