When I bought this game, I thought the whole thing would be D-Day/Saving Private Ryan missions. When I started playing, I thought I was out [$$]because it's very difficult to aim your weapons with the right stick, and I couldn't figure out where I needed to go or what I needed to do to finish this level. But once I pressed the select button for hints and got off of the beach, I found this game to be much more enjoyable. Most of the missions have to do with spy work, sneaking behind enemy lines, paratrooping in and going through villages after Nazis, and so on. This stuff made the game great - I could take my time, sneak around, listen to the guards yelling in German (...) and snipe the enemies off from a distance. The play varies from working with groups to sneaking into strange situations, like blowing up a U-Boat from the inside or sneaking through a German resport disguised as a waiter. It's fun stuff, and doesn't require the kind of high-test hand/eye work that only a 13-year old Mario addict can muster. The realism is decent; if you saw Saving Private Ryan, you'll recognize the style of the villages and soforth, and the gun sounds are more realistic than your average blam-blam effect. It's also hard to see guards when it's hazy and they are on a rooftop. But it's not 100% realistic, and your exploration options are limited (which I think is a plus). The controls are the worst part - it takes a lot of work to get used to the aiming with the right stick, and sometimes I spend forever getting shot at from a three foot range because I can't get the stupid gun moved over. But it's a great game overall, worth checking out especially by war buffs or people who like other strategy-oriented FPS games like Red Faction.
Terrible game

I don't even know where to begin with this game. It was horrible in every aspect I can think of. The best level was the first one, where you are going up the beach. The rest was completely aweful. The AI was horrible and charged me only to get killed. I never had any support. You are all alone in the game and no one is there to help you, unlike BIA and COD. Soldiers rarely were sent on huge missions alone in WW2. This game had no real aspects of the war and was not well made. It is the first game that I couldn't even force myself to finish. I do not recommend it to anyone.
Great Game---Can't wait for it to come out!

Medal of Honor Frontline is a must buy for the PS2. I have played the demo of Frontline and it looks awesome, the graphics are great and the gameplay is incredibly smooth. I also own Medal of Honor Allied Assault, the companion for this game on the PC.
I own all the Medal of Honor games on Playstation, and this game looks to top them all. Go out and buy it as soon as possible!
How about no stars!

Personaly, I didn't like the vantage point of the soldier and you don't have the option to change it. The gun is hard to shoot and inaccureate(sp?). I think this game [is bad]...

First things first, I'm a big PS2 fanboy. I have a PS2 and I don't even want the others. There is one thing about this game though that really irks me, EA already has it made for PS2 without a multiplayer, and they are GOING to release it for Gamecube and X-Box with multiplayer. What is it with EA? Why do they always have to make better products for the other systems? PS2 is just as good as the others...
Look the other way...

cause Medal of Honor: Frontline is about as ugly as they come! ... poor graphics, supported with lowsy gameplay, with many inaccuracies with the functions of weapons. The enemy A.I. is equal to that of the nazi's in the first wolfenstein. The game looks almost exactly like the first Medal of Honor for PS1 not alot in the improvement! as for the weapons, since when does a sniper rifle have no zoom at all? Hitting L1 while holding the M1 garand, you can zoom in approx. 1.5 times, but doing the same with the sniper rifles, only paints a "sniper lens" over the screen, no magnification at all! and since when did the german Stick hand Grenade blow up on contact with an enemy, but at the same time no the difference between the enemy and its surrounding environment?! I think that could only have happened if the Nazi's of WWII had contact with the Covenant Aliens in HALO!! I dont know maybe I missed that episode on the history channel! Also with the extreme difficulty found in looking around while moving, it is very easy to have no idea where you are or if you got turned around somehow. Bottom line, if you wanna see for yourself, RENT IT! Dont Buy this waste of plastic. If you have to buy a playstation 2 title, there are several disney titles that rival this flop!
In a word: Bad

This game has a number of flaws--stale graphics, linear levels, lack of expected realism, confusing missions, etc--but were it not for two of them, it still could have gotten off with a four start rating from me. The disastrous duo are as follows:
1.The AWFUL aiming/shooting system.
You can barely hit anything. The analog stick is far too sensitive - one slight tap to the right or left and you're character goes swinging around 45 degrees or more. There is no option to adjust the analog sensitivity, which means you're stuck with this.
Even worse is the fact that the game has no auto targeting. Can somebody explain to me the logic in this one? If it were a PC game and had a mouse for aiming, I'd understand. But it's not, and you have to make due with the analog stick. Any console FPS game needs to have an option for auto targeting, as controllers, even analog ones, simply do not offer the necessary precision for manual aiming.
2.Bad enemy design.
In those few instances when you can overcome the awful aiming system, line up your site and actually pump a few rounds into the enemy, for 5 seconds or so after doing so you might often be left wondering if the Nazis had secretly created some sort of holographic enemies, as it appears that your bullets fly through them without hitting anything. They'll stand there, spending a few seconds jerking and fidgeting around in a confusing manner before either dying, or looking like their about to die but then springing right back into action and blasting away at you. They don't seem to have the expected "weak points". Sometimes you'll shoot one in the arm and he'll die instantly. Others can take several rounds in the chest and take a while to die, if at all. The collision detection system is also bad - you can run up and spray 30 rounds from your submachine gun right at one or two enemies, at point blank range, and yet not have a single hit.
Fortunately, the enemy AI isn't advanced enough to present much of a difficulty, anyway. They usually just stand there and blast away, without taking cover, running away, calling for reinforcements, or anything.
The game isn't without it's charms, though. The environments, though boring, are quite detailed, and the missions sometimes interesting (submarine one being my favorite). But that doesn't save it. I'd recommend this only as a rental, unless you're a die hard FPS fan with lots of time and money to throw around.
Fun game, but.....

I've had a great time with MOH Frontline. It's unquestionably one of the most realistic war games available- engaging, entertaining and well worth the money.
However, I am disturbed at what I'm seeing in some of the reviews. One individual misspelled just about every other word. If it was intentional, it's stupid. If it's unintentional, it's sad.
Either way, perhaps some of you should consider turning off the PlayStation for a while and reading a book instead.
Don't buy it.

Weapons are increadibly inacurate. Even on the easy level soldiers take ten rounds at two paces from a Thompson shooting .45 ammo before they die but a tank can be blown to bits with a short burst from a machine gun nest? Loading weapons always happens when you want to open a door and start shooting or you try to man a machine gun, you have to remember to reload before you do those things or you sit there for ten minutes reloading your weapon while you get turned to hamburger. Sniping enemies doesn't work if you're too far away, but they can still shoot you. You can't shoot people through walls or boxes but you can be shot through those things. A lot of the missions seem like repeats of the other MOH games.
To sum it up: increadibly annoying and not any better than previous offerings.
