Great Fun!!! Don't Give Up!

Ghosts to Glory was the first video game I bought. It was difficult to play since I was new to video gaming. I died many times along the way and had to start over. But, once I learned how to play this game and build up my money, life points, etc., it was super fun. I noticed from the reviews that many players got frustrated and gave the game a low score. I say don't give up and it will get better and better. Many praises to the developers!

I've played lot's of different games that are VERY boring(a.k.a., Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex), and this so far is the best. I first heard about this game in a magizine. So I rented it, and it was sweet! I started saving up my money to buy it at a store for [money], until I found it used at a movie rental store for [money]. It was brand new with no scratches! So I bought it and have been playing it every day. This is a must-have!

A good, fun challenge!

Some folks gave this game a poor rating. I would suspect they are into instant gratification. This games takes a some work at first. That's what makes it a great game. It's not as fluffy and gentle as "Jack & Daxter".

PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT CAMERA ANGLES: press L1 to rotate the camera behind the player.

EVERYBODY: Read the manual before playing. It's not long.

Classic platform action is not dead! Huzzah!

"Maximo" is similar in style to the popular Crash Bandicoot and MediEvil games, in their style of platform action. As an older gamer, I found this to be a lot like the older games, such as Ghouls 'n' ghosts and Castlevania in it's overall feel. Obviously, the graphics and music have evolved since then. Here is the breakdown:

The Pros:

1. Classic gameplay. This game is a lot like MediEvil, in that it feels like a halloween adventure. There are graveyards, crypts, and there are plenty of monters and undead creatures to fight. What I loved was the overall feel of the game. The story is not very deep, but the emphasis is on the action. The control is like second nature, and very easy to grasp on the first attempt (I had to, the copy I bought didn't have a manual).

2. Graphics and Sound. The graphics in Maximo are remarkably fluid, with realistic shadowing, character movement, and world designs. The worlds are huge, and the detailing is nice. The music is where Maximo really shines. Unlike most video game music, the tunes in Maximo will stick in your head. The sound effects are really nice also, especially the sound your sword makes when it strikes rock.

3. Challenge. Many people think that Maximo is an easy game, but I think that it gave me a good challenge. The levels are huge, so unless you are super careful, you are bound to get killed a few times. Though the boss fights are easy, the levels themselves can be quite challenging. This is just what I was looking for.

4. Replay value. I have played through the whole game twice since I got it. Since the storyline is not very deep, the tedious cinematics are not a problem. You will want to play through again just for the action.

The Cons:

1. Saving is difficult. Everyone I know who has played Maximo has complained that saving is not easy. Finding a save point it tough enough, but having to pay for it is another problem altogether. What I wish it had were a more accessable save feature.

2. Monotony. After a period of extended play, the battles become tedious. I sometimes found myself getting quitre bored when I tried to get through an entire level in one sitting, and often I would have to repeat since I got killed off. People who have played MediEvil know what I am talking about.

Maximo is one of the PS2's most underrated titles. Fans of old school platform games will love the look and feel, while younger gamers will enjoy the great graphics and music. In short, everybody wins.

Capcom has done an excellent job with Maximo: G to G. Not only is it filled with classic arcade stlye action and versatility, but it has role playing value as well. The music is way over the top. It's a wonderful collection of moving bits that fit the environments Maximo finds himself in. The game combines serious fighting and less serious antics as well. I'm only half-way through the game and unable to get past one of the bosses. I'm looking forward to getting past this stuck point and into the worlds yet to come. I recommend this game to anyone who liked the old Nintendo style games. My name is Brian and I'm a Maximoholic.

Ghosts N' Goblins update!

I must admit I was already a fan of this franchise from the earlier Ghosts N' Goblins games, so I went into my purchase with high hopes for a nice update. Maximo: Ghosts to Glory is a much needed improvement to an already good game series. There was quite a lot of room for "less than" in developing this game, so I give Capcom a hand for pulling it off. The graphics are great, the game play is classic Ghosts N' Goblins (with the add-on of a 3D environment), the sound is classic, and seeing Maxi in his heart-print undies after one too many hits will never get old. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because of the sometimes annoying camera angles. I hope that with the next installment (announced at E3) they will work on fixing that minor issue in the new 3D series.

Maximo is a fun game. While the plot is cliched, this is not what the game is about. The combat is fun. You fight using a sword and can get armor to improve the amount of hits you can stand. The game can be hard, but it doesn't feel like it is throwing unfair challenges at you. The stages in the game are fun. I would like a larger variety of stages in Maximo than there is. Overall, it is a fun game.

how can you review a game badly because it is hard? maybe you should go back to playing tetris, i've heard it doesn't take much skills to make lines... as for the game i thought it was great its about time i had a game where i actually die a few times, but i honestly didn't think it was that hard to tell you the truth... it gets easier with the skills you learn along the way, i recommend buying this one

Not as fun as expected

I recently purchased a PS2 and this was the first game I got. After reading great reviews I expected it to be a blast, but it wasn't.
This was fun for a while, but it started to get boring. It was the same thing every level and not much variation. Maybe it was too hyped up for me.
I should have got Ico.
