Great fun, better than the first except...what happened to the storyline?

Now, one year has passed since KH:CoM, and you start out as Roxas, who first appeared in the secret trailer in KH and once again at the end of KH:CoM. Now, you finally learn much of who he is and his past, though not all of it at once (unless you're really insightful like me.) The prologue of this game, however, is the first flaw of the game. It is tedious and requires a tremendous amount of patience. If you can trudge through the prologue, then you're set for the rest of the game because then it speeds up and rarely slows down at all.
What is so great about this game? Well, first of all, it covers up a few glitches that were present in the first one and perfects them. And the GRAPHICS! Sheeyoo, they're damn good for a cartoon-like game. I was thoroughly impressed.
The music, once again, triumphs with some old and new scores, especially the music from the battles with Xaldin, Xigbar, and Saix. Plus, the theme music has been made more mystically beautiful, like the theme music for Final Fantasy.
The characters themselves are superbly done, with unbelievable character development and great voice acting. Haley Joel Osment, Jesse McCartney, Chris Sarandon, Pat Carroll, Geoffrey Rush, Sean Astin, and, let's not forget, Christopher Lee.
The old and new Organization Members are love 'em, hate 'em, or love to hate 'em. Fiery Axel, gambling Luxord, cowardly Demyx, brash Xigbar, confident Xaldin, uncompromising Saix, angry Roxas, and "all-powerful" Xemnas. I loved fighting them or getting to know them.
Bad stuff. The final battle, once again, was too easy. Xemnas didn't deliver, even on Proud Mode (hardest difficulty). Also, what's with Maleficent coming back? Vexen even said and I quote, "Preposterous. The witch cannot use the power of darkness to bring herself back of her own volition."
And what happened to the storyline? It was not as interesting and engrossing, and it didn't have enough twists and turns (although I am pleased that it tied most of the loose ends together.) And what's with darkness isn't bad and "nothingness" is the true evil? Ok, first of all, nothingness is either light or darkness, it's not a middle ground. Heartless are born out of what? DARKNESS! Nobodies (except Roxas and Namine) fade back into what? That's right, DARKNESS! Sora is looking for what? Oh, yeah, the door to LIGHT! NOT BOTH! You know, that wasn't even mentioned in the whole game until the very end. And where's the mysterious voice that guided Sora throughout some of the first game? Tetsuya, please add THAT back in for #3!
However, it is a must-have game. KH fans will not be disappointed.

This game is a dramatic, deep, adventurous, dark, emotional video game with real-life graphics. I can't express how dramatic it is! It reminds me of a great drama movie (with lots of great action). It is NOT a normal everyday video game! It is like a gift from gods. I know nothing is perfect, but this is so close it's scary! I can't stress this enough! It also has two games in one. Use a keyblade to vanquish heartless and nobodies, or travel to different worlds with a standard, or custom made, high performance gummi ship and blow up others. This video game is SO great! It's more than we deserve!I couldn't ask for anything more.
THE best game in the ENTIRE series! (And the world!^-^)

I really really enjoyed the first Kingdom Hearts. It was challenging and fun. Even though Disney characters were included, they were not involved in the same ol story lines we have seen for years.
Unfortunately most of he worlds here are basically just re-enacting the storylines of the movies.
I think this game is much easier, I am playing on the hardest level and have yet to be defeated to where I have to start over. I also purchased the Strategy guide, as it was 20% when I purchased the game. I have not even looked at it once. No reason to...just to easy.
Overall I am disappointed. I thought that with the long wait we had to endure, and how awesome the first one was, this would have been well worth waiting for. But it does not live up to expectations. At least for me.
I have not beat it yet, just re-visiting worlds now. Because unlike last time, where I would stay up for hours in the evenings playing, I have been able to shut this one off. :(
Square Enix didn't try very hard

I have been playing Squaresoft's (now known as Square Enix) games ever since Final Fantasy 1 came out for the original Nintendo. Though I haven't enjoyed too many of their games on the PS2, I did enjoy Kingdom Hearts 1. It was a completely new idea, and who knew that pairing Disney with Square would turn out so well? I had waited for Kingdom Hearts 2 to come out ever since I had beaten the first one. I was really excited when they finally decided to set an official release date. All of the images and footage I had seen from the game made it look really awesome and great. But here is one of my main points: It LOOKED pretty. That does not mean that the game was good.
There were a few good things about KH2. The battle system for the most part was amazing. The drive forms are so much fun to use and Sora kicks major [...] with them. The graphics are amazing in this game as well. The FMV movies are practically flawless. Most of the characters look great in the game too.
Now for the bad. I was expecting (with all of the hype) an amazing plot like in the first game, with all of the main characters interwoven into the game's main plot. I was expecting there to be a hugely complicated plot like in the first game. Well, Square did not do that at all. For the first 3 hours of the game, you play as a character named Roxas. He is a great character, and the plot that you play as for him is great and keeps you on your seat as you are playing. That beginning part of the game was well developed. But that is all you see of him. The rest of the game's plot is very loosely tied together. I felt that the majority of the rest of the game was empty. All you did was go from world to world fighting the heartless again.
Square could had done a lot more with the concept of the Nobodies. I will not write any more about them, due to spoilers, but they just sort of threw them in there as just something extra to add in.
The media hyped up this game completely. If you are looking for a very indepth game, avoid this one.
Not impressive

First, I was under the impression that this game must be great because it is highly rated. Then I found out that it is so over rated. I think the conversations in this games are so boring. The characters are so very not original. I don't like the idea of doing errands to make munny. So much like a real world. I am all for the surreal and over the top kinda games.
Fun, but uncompelling...

I'm going to set this into pros and cons...
Pros: Good gameplay
Fun
Plays like the original
Cons: All of the good voice acting from the original was whored out to talentless hacks.
Answers too many questions that "weren't asked" and took away from the big questions presented at the end of the first game.
Has extremely generic philosophical references.
Has unexplained changes in characters, as well as inaccurate references to the games they were derived from (especially FF7).
Arguably too easy.
Kingdom Hearts is so totally awesome!!!

For the 1st 3 years of this game I had never even heard of it, until 2004 when Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories for the Gameboy came out. That was one of the best games I have ever played. I am now a major fan. I own the 1st 2 books(still waiting for the 3rd to come out), & I want a crown necklace just like Sora's, & I wish I could get a keyblde off of ebay. I would have so much fun scareing my cat with that...*cough* Anyway, I really wish I had a playstation2 so i could get it. So if you have a Playstation2 take advantage of getting this game! Because if the first 2 were good, imagine how good this one is!
not worth it

Kingdom of hearts 2 does not stand up to the quality of Kingdom of hearts 1. The graphics are less detailed, and the cut scenes are choppy and unnecessarily long. Thank goodness one can opt out of playing the cut scenes. Invisable walls abound everywere which was not a main problem in the first game. The game is also less open than the first one -- meaning that in the first one you had more choice of what you wanted to do and in what order. The music is all disney -- other characters game music is nonexistant. The uniqueness of this game is gone -- it is all disney. The fights are all button pushing and switching from the item menu is awkward. Most times you win and don't know how you did it.
If your just looking to fill time then I'd play this game. But I'd recommend renting or waiting for a discounted price. Poorly done game all round.
Her favorite game.
