Intro
Kingdom Hearts, a magical wonder for all to enjoy. This game is one of the best games ever made. It's Graphics are top notch, as well as the beautiful cut scenes. The music is the best. Not one world has the same.
The Game
This game you play as Sora, he lives on a beach with his two friends. One night when they are planning to escape the island because they feel trapped not knowing anything that lays beyond the ocean. On the night they get ready to leave the island is encased in darkness, and when sora awakes he is in a strange new land. Where he soon meets some familiar characters, Donald Duck and Goofy umm Goofy...Anyways, they set sail on their newfound ship to various disney worlds in search of Sora's lost friends, and King Mickey. They eventually defeat the darkness in their own hearts and find King Mickey and his friends, but they are lost again. The adventure than continues, but not in this game.
Conclusion
This is a wonderful game reccomended for any disney fan, and any Final Fantasy fan. The Final fantasy characters are in this game too. Not much but a little. Dont ask me how Disney and Final Fantasy got together

Yeah, I'm not that big of a fan of Disney anymore. We all have to grow up, right? But even if you are or were before, this game is for you even if only for nostalgia's sake. Those who've played Square's Final Fantasy series will get a kick of this game, too, as you come across the heroes from FF7,8 and 10. This game is more of an action oriented RPG similar to Great Fencer Musashi for the PS1. You only get to fully control one player character named Sora while you have two other "support" characters who will aid you. And they do a pretty good job at it, too. They're not useless drones who get kiled all the time like in other games. Well, except for Donald who seems to keep getting killed all the time, but he sure packs a mean wand. Anyways, this game is a must have for PS2 gamers who like rpg's with a little action, humor, and nostalgia. It's definitely not an easy kiddie game although it's not so tough as Devil May Cry on Hard mode so some of you guys shouldn't be afraid thinking it's that hard. The options available to characters are plentiful and very customizable as you gain and use AP points for different abilities as well get various magic powers and summons by beating or doing certain events in the game. All voices are done by various stars and voice actors which is sorta cool. I found though that the FF character voices weren't as great as the Disney characters. Just hearing Pooh's voice was kinda cool. Out of the four most reent games I bought, Robotech:Battle Cry, Tekken 4, the Thing and Kingdom Hearts, KH definitely gets more play time because of the fun factor.
Square meets Disney. A breath of fresh air for RPG fans.

On the surface, the idea of matching Squaresoft with Disney seems a bit like putting ice cream on pizza. But I had high hopes for this game, considering it was Squaresoft, and I was not disappointed. I bought "Kingdom Hearts" on September 17, and have be enjoying it non-stop since then.
The story of "Kingdom Hearts" is two-fold. We first meet Sora, who along with his friends Kairi and Riku, hope to explore the world together, having never seen the world outside of their island. We then go to Disney castle, where Donald Duck and Goofy must set out to find the king, who has mysteriously diappeared. All he left behind was an odd note that mentions that they must find a "key". One stormy nights, Sora, Riku, and Kairi are sucked into the darkness from a mysterious force, and are separated. Their paths cross in a place called "Traverse Town", a place where people go when their worlds disappear. I will not reveal anymore, but suffice to say, the story gets more intersting.
The first thing you'll notice is that there are a lot of Squaresoft characters you'll recognize: Waka, from FFX, and Cid. There is also Cupo, the loveable and wise Mog from FFVI-XI. The list goes on. Also adding to the mix are 100 Disney characters, almost every one you can think of. The thought behind "Kingdom Hearts" is quite brilliant, making it fresh and original. This is what I wanted. The dialogue and writing is definitely not kiddie-fodder. While the game can appeal to any age group, the writing is not corny or overdramatic as kid's movies tend to be.
The control is easy to master on the first try, while the battle system couldn't be more natural. Rather than the turn-based battles of the Final Fantasy games, the battles are in real time. The big advantage is that if you are good, a lot of enemies won't even be able to damage you. The graphics and music are fantastic, first rate for the PS2. The animation is smooth and fluid, while the scenery is flawless. The theme song by Japanese pop star Utada Hikiru is excellent, by the way.
There are many reasons why I would recommend "Kingdom Hearts", but the main one is that there is, literally, something for every body: Familiar Disney characters for the kids, battles for the action lovers, first rate graphics and sound for those who demand it, and interesting story and classic Squaresoft gameplay for the older gamers. This is one of Squaresoft's finest, no contest.

I consider Kingdom hearts the best RPG since FFX, especially if you are a FF fan and/or Disney lover. You have all the familiar charactor from both FF VII to FF X and disney stories. I mean you will see EVERYONE! Even better, you also get the high quality 3D, and nice storyline from squaresoft, very creative.
Don't expect it as a FF series game. It is more an action game than an RPG because of the fighting system. Instead of cutting into the fighting sequence and take turns hitting each other, you get into real time battles when encountering enemies. So make sure this is something you will enjoy.
A lot of complains about the camera angle but I do think this is something you need to compromise when putting 3D on an 2D TV. Still, you will be able to adjust the camera when needed.
To sum up, this is a very fun game to play...

Update 11/3/02: I finally finished the game. I have to take off one star because of the ending. When you enter the final stage and begin fighting the final bosses, the story line start to make no sense. And the ending look pretty rough. I think for such a great game most of the part, the ending can be much better.
Kids love it!

I think this game was really good but a little pricey.
It has Disney Characters for 8 year olds but a real good story line and good fights for 10-14 year olds.
Wow. Simply wow.

This game blew my socks off. I had little hope that it would be anything good. I had never even heard of it until my 11 year old cousin suggested we rent it one night while I was watching him. But, lo and behold, I became an instant addict. I've seen friends play FF and other RPG games before, and even tried them myself, but they just never caught on with me. And Disney, I love 'em, I grew up owning every video they put out, but their games *always* sucked. Badly. This game, though, has made me reevaluate both the standings of Disney games and realize how awesome Squaresoft is. I think the thing that this has, for me, over most other RPGs is the real-time battling, instead of the turn-based system, which I have despised ever since I first tried it. No such scruples here. Ahhh... finally. Now, people complain about the camera. Le sigh. I have yet to come across a battle game on a new platform with a 3D camera that doesn't have issues. It's something you just learn to deal with, I suppose. I barely notice it anymore, and it no longer causes me any woes. In fact, I think the only thing that does annoy me is the Gummi ship sequences. Once I got the warp drive, it wasn't so bad, but still, you have to deal with it every time you go to a new world, and honestly, I'm not one of those people that thinks the journey is half the fun of traveling. That's probably my only problem. Overall, fantastic game, and I'll be looking for more Square titles like this in the future. Woohoo!
