Totally Exceeded Expectations!!!

The first thing that wanted me to buy this was the theme song, Simple and Clean by Utada Hikaru. I still wasn't too sure about the game itself, since I'm not a real die-hard fan of Disney, but I was at Best Buy and saw it, so I just bought it. I loved it right away from the beginning of the game. It took me awhile to get used to beating things down, but I eventually got used to it so now those Heartless don't stand a chance! I haven't gotten too far in the game, but everything's unfolding nicely (as of now, I'm in the Coliseum level). I definitely reccomend this game, and hopefully the next one will be as good as this one, if not better!

Gameplay: 9/10
Storyline: 10/10
Graphics: 9.5/10
Overall: 95%
P.S. Riku is AWESOME!!!!

SquareEnix & Disney teaming together to make a game for the Playstation 2 Console. For those of you who think this is a joke, then you havn't played Kingdom Hearts yet. Kingdom Hearts was and still is one of the most emotionally powerful games to ever hit any home gaming console. Not only was it emotional, but the story was just amazing. The graphics, even for today's standards, are still beautifully done. The soundtrack, even though a little annoying at times, can be compared to a movie soundtrack. Yes, Kingdom Hearts is an amazing game. But, what about the flaws? Though there were a few, the game sucked you in so much to the point that you didn't even notice. Some of the flaws included confusing camera views, some glitches, repetive gameplay (every time you die after a cutscene, you will have to go through that cutscene again, not being able to skip it), and sometimes, though rarely, clumpy graphics. Stiil, this game is absolutly great. I would have given it 5 stars had the camera been a little better. If recommend this game to anybody who is a fan of Disney or of SquareEnix. Even if your not. I'm personally not the biggest fan of neither, and I don't really play video games that much, yet this game was different for me. Once again, if you havn't played it, I strongly recommened you do.

A compelling gameplay experience

Mixing Disney and Square's characters -- who would have thought that this game could have been any good? I for one, waited a long time to purchase this game just because I figured it would be really cheesy.

In fact, it's a pretty fun game. I mean, it's nothing revolutionary, and it's definitely not Final Fantasy, but it's probably one of the best action RPG games released to date. Something about its huge variety of themes and interesting obstacles make it a really engaging experience -- a combination of simple fun hack-n-slash and actual strategy, it's just all around a great game.

a game worthy of a title better than "platinum hits"

this is my 2nd review for this game and im gonna make it better than my 1st

kingdom hearts is a heart warming story of a 14 year old boy named sora whos in search of his friends after his island home is destroyed by creatures known as the heartless

the heartless are creatures that come in all shapes and sizes, they feed on the hearts of those whose darkness is strong, and multiply

sora wields a weapon called the keyblade, obtained after 1 of soras friends riku is engulfed in the power of darkness on his island home

soras friends are riku, a 15 year old boy who is very mature for his age, he is engulfed by the power of darkness, when he wants to leave his island to see other worlds

and kairi, a 14 year old girl who mysteriously appeared on the islands like 10 years before the story takes place

sora, after his island is destroyed and appears in a new place called traverse town, is accompanied by donald and goofy, who were sent by his king to accompany him because hes the only hope for every ones survival

you travel to many worlds featuring great disney characters

ill keep the rest a secret and post some spoilers to those who the heck im talkin bout next

after extensive research, ive found out ansem, the one who wrote the reports isnt the real ansem, hes really a heartless named xehanort, diz is the real ansem, and hes a good guy, xehanort was one of ansems students back when ansems world was still in tact

the organization is a band of different creatures called nobodys, created after a persons heart is stolen, there soul and body manifests itself into a different creature called a nobody

roxas, or maybe you know him as blond haired kid, is a nobody as well, created after sora gave up his heart for kairi in hollow bastion

namine is also a nobody created after kairi lost her heart

thank you and good night

Shoud have been game of the year for 2002.

This game isn't just good, it's infintly good. Not just the game you rent for a weekend, beat it, and say "Well, that was fun." No, this is a game where you rent it for a weekend, not even get through 1/16th of the game, buy the game, take 3 months to beat the storyline, take another month to try to beat the secret bosses, beat all but 1(Seperoth, how you spell his name), then spend the rest of your freetime trying to beat that godforsaken Seperoth!!!! Then, as if that wasn't enough, wait 3 stinking years for the sequel to come out(it comes out on 3/28/06, or March 28, 2006)!! In other words: this game is a MUST HAVE title for your PS2.

Kingdom Hearts is the awkward marriage between Disney and Sqaure. It looks great, it sounds great, it plays great, and best of all, you get characters from Disney and Square into a one-big fairyland that never was.

This game looks sharp and smooth while upholding a steady frame rate. Although the game is lacking in detail, it's simplicity works to its advantage, and fits the style well. Square has put much effort into the Special effects, and magic spells look spectacular.

Sound is top-notch. Even from the beginning intro theme, you know you're into for a classic Squaresoft style treat, ranging from instrumentals to orchestra style blowouts. Some say the melodies become repetitive, and they do. But the transition is there, and it's rarely a trouble.

The level design is also top-notch. They all have a certain style to them. The forest feels...well...very foresty. You can swim around like a mermaid in Atlantica, and fly like Peter Pan in Neverland.

So why isn't this game perfect? The camera is often wonky, and refuses to stay behind Sora. You can set it to "Manual," which gives you a more precise control over the camera, at the expense of simplicity. That platform part of the game is poor. Say you're standing on a small platform, and enemies jump on you. You attack, but with each slash of your sword, Sora automatically moves forward, causing you to fall down from the platform. This is problematic in levels such as "Alice In Wonderland" and "Monstro."

In the end, the game is fun with plenty of minigames and unlockables. You also get to fight plenty Disney and Sqaure villains and heroes.

I have had this game for about 2 years. In those 2 years I have beat the game about 10 times. Every time I beat it, I just want to start all over again. Square Enix and disney teamed up to create this game. I am not really a fan of Disney games, but I love Final Fantasy games. In this game you are Sora, a 14 year old boy who lives with his friends on the Destiny Islands. His friend Riku, who is 15 has always competed with him, but they are really great friends. He also has a friend named Kairi. she is 14, the same age as Sora. After Sora's island is invaded by shadows called heartless, Sora finds himself in a different world. Now, Sora, Riku, and Kairi have always dreamed of going to visit different worlds. I guess Sora got his dream. While in this new world called Traverse Town, Sora meets up with 2 characters from Disney, Donald and Goofy. Together, they set out to find Sora's friends and the king of Disney Castle, Mickey. Sora's weapon is the keyblade. It just looks like a giant key, but you can get different keychains as you travel through the different worlds trying to seal their keyholes. Donald's first weapon is called the Mage's Staff. You can win more staffs as you go through the game, but you can also buy them at the item shop in Traverse Town. You can also use magic that you learn throughout the game. The spells are as follows: fire, blizzard, thunder, gravity, stop, and cure. I think that that is all of them. There is also summon. You can summum disney characters to aid you in battle. they are: Genie, Simba, Bambi, Mushu, Tinkerbell. You have to find all of the dalmation puppies that were scattered over all of the worlds when their world was attacked by shadows. You have to seal all of the keyholes. They are: Wonderland, Olympus Colleseum, Deep Jungle (Tarzan), Agrabah, Monstro, Holloweentown, Neverland, Atlantica (Little Mermaid), Hollow Bastion, Traverse Town, Destiny Islands, 100 acre woods, and The End Of The World. You also have to defeat Ansem. He is an evil person who can control the heartless. Did I mention that there is a hard boss after you beat every world, including Malificent (Sleeping Beauty)? Before you beat the game, Seal all of the keyholes including the 100 acre wood, rescue all of the 99 puppies, and beat the hades cup at the Olympus Coliseum. If you do this and then beat Ansem, then you will get to see the secret ending which is a sneak peak to the kingdom hearts 2 game!! You don't have to do all of that before you beat Ansem. If you beat Ansem before you do all of that stuff, don't worry, you still can see the secret ending. As long as you do all of those things, and then beat the game you can see it.

Thanks for listening!

The other day my brother finished playing this game. It has great graphics and just like Final Fantasy. Its a great game for all ages and its like final Fantasy goes Disney. I really understand why they made a second Kingdom Hearts. Its because Kari and Sora get spit apart and Sora has to find Kari again. Buy this game if you want to have fun.

I thought that Kingdom Hearts was a great game. This game is great for gamers that like good graphics, a great storyboard, and long games. This game is easy to get the controls down, but that doesn't mean it's easy. The day I received this game, I had just bought my Playstation 2. It took me about seven months to beat the game. I loved the game then, and I still do.
