Trust me kids, despite the fact that it's disney, pick up this game. At least rent it. The beautiful graphics, engaging story, and real-time battles make this a stunning action/rpg. My only issue is with the camera. Set it on manual, and just get used to moving it around. Worried that it'll be boring? Try expert mode your first time out. You'll get [killed].

I knew it would rule ;-)

...I guess I was one of three people who, upon hearing about this crossover between the Disney and Final Fantasy worlds, knew that Square had struck brilliance. Weird, demented brilliance to be sure, but genius nonetheless. It's always the weird ideas in the video game world that seem to create something interesting.

Kingdom Hearts is the most fun I have had in a video game since Grand Theft Auto III. Yes, I loved both games. Some of us have brains that can shift gears.

The fighting is near perfect- my only advice is to turn off the auto camera and manually rotate when not locked onto a target. this helps when exploring as well. The exploration part of the game has many intricacies from the Trinities to searching for those poor dalmation puppies. If you liked the Zelda games, you will love this game. It's Final Fantasy, Zelda and maybe a touch of Tomb Raider all blended together into some fine Playstation 2 goodness.

The bosses are challenging but not tear-your-hair-out frustrating. The one global strategy is to be relentless. Get in there and punish the bad guys, but have healing ready and close by. You will know what I mean when you start playing the game.

I even liked the space shooter segments. If you take the time to learn the interface and start designing your own ship, it can be a fun diversion. And if you hate it, well, eventually you can warp past it, so no real bother. I thought it gave a good sense of actually travelling to a new place. I eventually built a big, fat wall of shielding and armor bristling with armamanets that, if it couldn't shoot and enemy ship into oblivion, could darn well just fly through the thing.

And you get to knock about Halloween Town with Jack Skellington. That's worth the price of admission alone.

It is possible to get a little weirded out, though. After you rummage through Winnie The Pooh's house for and Elixir or a Mega-Ether, or summon Bambi to help you battle fire breathing minions of Darkness, you might need a bit of a lie down. :-D

But, ultimately, it all works, and works smoothly, and I hope there's a sequel...

A Great Game.

At first glance, Kingdom Hearts may look like a wimpy game, but its not. Squaresoft and Disney, two of the best companies in the world, worked together to create a Kingdom Hearts - a game with beautiful graphics, music, and a great storyline. A must for ALL PS2 owners.

Surprisingly good game

I was a little disappointed after I had finished it for four reasons. First the ending wasnt that spectacular, the battle system is more like Zelda than Final Fantasy,I didn't get the Ultima Weapon, and I couldn't beat Sephiroth (He kills you with two hits. He's just that cool). Besides that it was a good game, even with the disney characters. The plot is unique, a demon race known as the "Heartless" are taking over all the worlds and you (Sora) have been chosen as the "Keyblade" master, the key (Pun intended) to stopping them. The graphics are spectacular, and i really enjoyed seeing Cloud again (the all time greatest hero). Here's hoping for a sequel ^_^

Square + Disney + Alot of Money = Happy Gamers...

I must admit, when I first saw this game in my EGM however many months ago it was, I was skeptic, but since I am an avid follower of the Final Fastasy series, I decided I would check it out anyway, I thought, even if the 100+ Disney characters might throw a serious storyline out of whack, the Final Fantasy characters would make things all bright and happy for me...\

I am glad I decided to look into this game...

Yes, friends may heckle me for getting a game with *horror of horrors!!* Disney characters!! But they are missing out. This is an action RPG no only of very high quality (go figure...Square is involved and so was hundreds of millions of dollars...) but of great charm too...each character that makes a cameo in the game, from Goofy to the Genie to Jafar, makes the translation from 2D to 3D well, are voiced by their original actors, and build on the story as opposed to destroying it...

Graphics and sound is also great, with easily reconizable music from movies in each themed world, and familiar locales and faces, te colorful graphics make you feel like you are part of the movie.

An only gripe is that, with a fanbase of all ages, Square made this gam a bit too difficult. Some of the bosses (curse you Maleficent!!!) made me want to smash my Playstion, and with gamers half my age, well...they'll never get to see the ending (which definately hints a sequel)

All and all, this is a game no RPGer should miss, battles are fun, atmosphere never lets up, and production vaues are throug the roof...this is a game no one should miss!!

Kingdom Hearts is a must-have PS2 game for everyone!

I purchased this game the day that it came out, and have been enjoying it ever since. As a non-RPG buyer, I was attracted by the reviews that tout the Disney worlds and excellent graphics/story. This game did not disappoint!

It has a great mix of story, action, and strategy, without being too dark and violent. Oh sure, there are some fight scenes, but it is more about the action, with no blood or gore to speak of. My 4 year old son is too young to play this game, but he is content to sit by my side and watch for hours at a time while I play.

It is not perfect. The voice-overs are not timed very well, and look like they were just dubbed over the Japanese version. The voices are great, though, and even the Disney voices seem authentic. I also have encountered a couple of instances where the action slowed down. First time ever with the PS2, but there is always a lot going on with the graphics. Finally, there are parts to the story where it is just not clear what you are supposed to do next. Not even a clue. You just have to wander around and talk to people again and again. It can get frustrating.

Overall, a great game, and one that I would recommend to any grownup with a PS2 and an affection for Disney characters.

good game; bad controls

good game. obviously geared towards children. but adults may also enjoy this.

would have been better if camera angles were steady. the special appearance by lexington steele was an amazing cameo. as was all the appearances by the disney characters.

great game for children and adults alike. very safe.

I have absolutely no regrets when I got this game for Christmas two years ago. Pros: Great graphics, soundtrack, and plot
Cons: At times, it is extremely frusterating and it took me a year or two to beat it. Also, some kids at my school thought it was stupid because you fight with a key.
