most realistic sim i have played

i have been playing the racing sims since i bought my ps1 and played need for speed. i must say taht this is the most realistic game i have played. this is a progression of gt3. the graphics are superior in all aspects. the amount of cars and tracks are awesome. there are suppost to be 100 tracks adn over 600 cars. it is cool you can transfer some money from your gt3 game if you have played that and also the a and b liscenes too. this game is not for the inexperienced player. if this is the first racing game you have played it may be frustrating until you learn the techniques of road racing. in particular braking and driving for the apex. unlike gt3 you can not beat and bang on the competitors becasue they fight back. also you can not get off the track. if you hit the grass it will not go anywhere and you will lose many positions because you have to slow down and get back on the right line. all in all it is an amazing game. i enjoy having the classic cars and the trucks. the f150 lighning is so cool. it was the super truck till ford killed it. and dodge slapped a viper v10 in a truck. but that is a moot point. also the classic cars are a nice touch. my personal favorite is the buick gnx. the car that was faster than a corvette in the 80s. but i do highly reccomend this game. even if you are a novice driver. if you play it enough and avoid the frustration of learning driving techniques it will be enjoyable for you.

Great game, very time consuming and hard

Hey first off, this game is a really good racing simulator. Graphics are much improved and there is a phenominal selection of cars to choose from. Overall the feel of the driving feels extremely real, but cars can very from the performance of past games (for example the RUF cars aren't very fast this time around).
There is however a lot of downsides to this game. To start off, as a prior reviewer already stated, why in the world do you have to do rally racing on this to get your liscense? People don't buy the game to drive on a bunch of dirt, that would be Collin Macree Rally or some other rally game.
Second, this game is extremely long compared to the others, I mean long. That is good and bad. Good becasue you'll probably not get bored playing this for a long time, bad becasue you'll go insane trying to get 100%! Another biggie is some of the endurance races even speeded up (3x's) take more than eight hours! If you can spend nine hours starring at a TV screen never leaving your house then go for it! If not then you are doomed to never complete the game.
Forth problem is that the game if very very hard. At the higher levels goodluck winning, you'll spend forever practicing before you'll even be able to keep up. But with a lot, and I mean a lot of practice its possible.
To conclude this is a really really fun game. If you liked the three prior to this then you will love this game, but probably find yourself a little frustrated with the length and difficulty. I been playing a couple months, and am about 90% complete so it is a doable game, if you have the time and paitence!

Best racer ever crafted by the hands of mankind...

Everone who owns a PlayStation (either PSone or PS2) have played and loved the GT franchise (with the exception of a few people, but they are minority). When GT3 was on it's way, i looked forward like a six-year child on christmas eve. However, the game unfortantly dissapointed me as there where less tracks and cars than GT2, plus some other cons. But, it was a awesome game all in all.

When GT4 started to surface, i was afraid i was going to be yet again dissapointed. Boy was i wrong! With almost 800 cars, over 50 tracks (including that you can drive them backwards) and tons of car customization (or however you spell that word. Awesome soundtrack with tens of songs, superb physics, awesome graphics and audio, this is the numbo uno game for everone who OWNS a PS2 and who is car interrested. You'll never find anything close to this one in your entire life! It's just brilliant.

Alltough, every game aint perfect, and GT4 have it's set of cons as well. First of, a personall "baddie": I wish there were more races where you had to drive more of the "slower" cars instead of the super cars. The game also have three 24-hours REAL-TIME Endurance Races (but, luckily these can be finished within 8-hours trough B-Spec mode), no car damage, some favourite tracks from previous entries in the serie did not return and thosse who did return may have been changed so drasticlly that some people may go "they've ruined it". Also, whille the game boasts almost 800 cars, there could be more quality than quantity (spelled right?). Like, do we really need 10 versions of the same Skyline? And finally the drag of all drag: No online... :(

But, beside this: Then GT4 is the complete game for all racing and car lovers out there. The GT mode is so big that you'll most likely not finish the game in several months. Like anyone else, i highly recomment you to purchase this awesome game...

This is not good!

I cannot believe they have delayed this game for a year, to announce two months prior to its release that it will not be online compatible. Absolutely rediculous. I pre-ordered the game almost 9 months ago and can't wait to get my refund. That was the main attraction of this game. Hold off and buy it when they come out with a second online version.

Unbelieveable

This game should be the best ps2 game ever, with new improved graphics, more realistic car handeling and over 500 cars to choose from(including muscle cars, sports cars and everyday cars)it IS my favourite game ever.It is much harder and gives me a challenge as GT3 was way toooooo easy, i feel the new online mode where you fight day in day out to get to the no.1 spot is incredible and everyone should buy it.It is sooooo good that making GT5! would spoil it(unless it is on PS3 if it ever comes out)Good luck getting past the liscence tests!lol.

Why?

Why is everyone writing reviews when the game isn't scheduled to come out until January? Yes, I'm glad you want to pre-order it, but you don't need to post a review!

I was looking forward to this game. Sony took forever making this game and pushed back the title so many times I lost count. After all this the game still has no online play and the cars still take no damage. How can it called the most realistic driving simulator out there when you hit a wall at 130mph and the car still looks brand new. That is just weak. Wait for Forza to come out. At least you can play online with forza and the cars will render damage.

The title says it all. I've seen the graphics and multiple videos of this game and they have all been supercharged. Polyphony Digital (the developers) have not, bought the licences to Lambo and Ferrai. They sold their licences to the Need For Speed series.

I'm definatly going to reserve this because its goint to sell out fast.

Excellent Game

Excellente juego, es una verdadera simulacion de manejo, los graficos son de lo mejor, y las pistas parecen reales.
Es un juego al que hay que dedicarle muchas horas si se quiere avanzar.
