First of all, I'm a Gran Turismo maniac; so my comment on this is not objective at all.
The game r-o-c-k-s ! Think about Gran Turismo 3; add 600 cars. I mean every car is in this game. From the classical Jay Leno car, to the latest Mercedes SLR. Racecars, even pick-up trucks. Amazing new maps, new conditions (snow tires :)) , new rims and new spoiler section. From now on people comes and celebrate you after you win something, or people washes your rims in the carwash. Even though they look like Sims characters, I think it's cute. Graphics have improved, the difference can be told if you play Gran Turismo 3 just after playing GT4.
If you still have your old GT3 savefile, you get 100,000 Credits and first two licenses. So you can begin with a Dodge Viper, Lotus or a Porsche (or many many others).
The main menu has a great view. You can now go to every country, classic and used car show rooms, tracks and everything from the same page. There is even a freaking photo section, where you can take pictures with your car wherever you want! It has so many new things that you will enjoy wasting one year of your life playing this game.
Once again, I think differently. The only reason I had Playstation 1 was because of Gran Turismo, and the only reason I got Playstation II was Gran Turismo 2. You might remember that they were selling Gran Turismo 2 & Playstation 2 together a while ago.
In its category Gran Turismo 4 is better than any other game. Keep racing, keep winning money, keep upgrading your car, keep buying new cars and enjoy the freaking ride.
Cheers!

I am so excited that I finally have this game. It exceeds my expectations in every way possible. Every little complaint that I have had in the past GTs are all taken care of perfectly. The tracks are so detailed you feel like you're watching the Speed channel. I highly recommend this masterpiece to any car/racing fans out there.

This is one of the best racing games of all times. The graphics are phenominal, it looks like the "real" thing. The physics are like a dream come true, that make it feel just right when your making a turn. The sounds are awsome!! Each time you "rev" up the engine you will be stunned of how "real" the sounds are. There's more than 750 cars from more than 80 manufacturers such as Nissan, Honda, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and all the other ones from around the world. They have added all new modes such as Photo Mode were you set your car in a position and they would give you options such as how bright you want it to be, focus, and ect to take pictures. Overall you won't be dissapointed so go out and buy it, and if you don't...well...TO BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Gran turismo has always been known for being the real driving simulator but this one took the racing game industy to the next level. With over 700 cars and more than 50 tracks this game is the one for any person looking for a realistic driving game. Yes its challenging but it puts you threwwhat real drivers go threw. This is ten times better than all the other gran turismo ever made due to its new graphics and most of all the CARS, yes you herd me over 700 CARS thats more than any other game to ever come out. This game i would highly recomened to anyone.
Awesome

To get the best out of this product let me make a few recommendations. First of all you should have an hd tv. Next, it would be a great experience if you could get your hands on a force feed back wheel because this game fully supports them. The game can be played in full 1080i and the graphics are the best I have seen for the ps2. Old career and licenses are back, with over 300 cars, trucks, vans, convertibles, and others, you can get the pleasure of driving your dream car. There are a couple of things that would make this a legendary game. The game should have some kind of damage. Right now the only thing that keeps you from ramming and smashing the opposition to the wall is a stupid 5 second penalty that limits your speed for that amount of time, and if the one getting rammed and smashed is you, the penalty will regretfully be yours again for some reason. If you do not have the hardware I mentioned above, the game will seem pretty much as any other ordinary racing game, and you will probably rate it as a 2.5 to a 3 star game.
How can you own a PS2 without this game?

Every car enthusiast must own this game. If you own a PS2, how can you not own this game? Amazing graphics, so many cars;
Not an arcade-style game, thats for sure; its all about simulation which can be boring at times

Just got the game and started to play it. The graphics of the race tracks have been improved greatly. The car graphics are just like GT3, but add more detail to the shading and an actual driver. Also, there are three views while you race that you can chose from.
So far the good things I have seen are the ability to transfer credits (100,000) and licenses (B and A) from a GT3 save game file.
I have come across problems with the screen shaking on one dirt track and after you win a race on certain courses.
Overall if you like GT3, I would recommend that you get this.

GT3 was by far the best racer i have ever had the privilage to play. the numerous cars, the amount of racing events, winnable cars, upgrades to the cars, cars that you could buy with your prize money, all the licencese you needed to unlock, and the all around sound of the game (music in the game menus and in the races as well as the car sounds and squeels)made the game very addictive. GT3 was the first PS2 game i eevr owned and never regreted it. to say the not even fully made gran turismo 4 game is not good is absured. how can you say that it's no good already when no one has played the finished product. the series of gran turismo games has already earned this game a five star rating. there is so much depth to these games it's a miricle if you ould ever get everything out of them. i am positive that the makers of GT4 has only taken their series further into realism and all around enjoyment.
