Some of you are probaly wondering why I am writting a review for a Game which has not came out in America yet, but I actually did play the Japanese version and here is what I think.

Yes. The FMVs are great! I loved the opening with Yuna and co and the Sen no Kotoba FMV was absoultly beautiful! The changes with the outfits: Mages,Singer, Warrior and so on were also very fun! Each has thier own transformation and what not. The fighting grid is better than the one on FFX also...you gain by experience.

Some of the weird stuff: The story line is...not very deep. I won't say anymore, but if you thought FFX's story was flimsy, eh...this one might throw you for a loop. Also, some of the graphics are not as smooth as in FFX. For example, we all remember the part before 'Suteki da ne' when Tidus went to see Yuna. The graphics were NICE. But the equivalent to it in FFX-2 is kind of hard on the vector. So to sum up, there are times when the graphics are WOW and other times when you might be...uh...ok. But we are all playing this for the story, right?...or what story there is...eh

Yuna carrying guns was hard to get used to....but it is actually FUN! Rikku was her usual...Payne...I miss Lulu for sure...*sigh*.

The music is...disapointing. The only songs I liked were Sen no Kotoba, RealEmotion and for soundtrack wise, 'Yuna's Theam' was catchy, and 'Eternity'were the only ones I liked, but of course IMHO. 'Besaid' was very relaxing, and while I prefered Umatesu's version, this wasn't bad. 'Zanarkand' was also good.

But that is a basic overview of the game...I did not touch on a lot, so take what I said with a grain of salt! But I do recommnd this game for all FF fans! I am sure I am going to buy a copy when it comes out. Trust me...when it comes down to it, this game might not be Final Fantasy VII, nor does it shape to be a another FFX, but it is alone and it is VERY FUN!

BUY IT!!!!!

It's not a video game, but a movie.

The Final Fantasy series is the best roleplaying game series there is. If you like roleplaying video games, you'll love this game. However, this is an indictment of roleplaying games, because this game, well, stinks.

In essence, here's how the game works. First, you watch a little CGI sci-fi movie. Then, you scroll through some menus and hit some buttons. If you didn't pick the right buttons on time, you die, and have to start over. If you pick the right buttons, you get to watch another little CGI sci-fi movie. This process is repeated for about 40 hours until you win. (I guess it takes 40 hours. I didn't stick around to find out.)

What you purchase when you purchase this game is not really a video game, but a mediocre sci-fi movie, a movie which takes a lot of effort to get to see the ending of. If you want to watch a sci-fi movie, go rent on. If you want to play a video game, play something else.

They ruin the theme songs

The english version of Real emotion sounds awful. They should have kept the original japanese version, it sound so much better.

The 100% perfect ending makes the entire journey worthwhile

I'm assuming you've played through Final Fantasy X already...you have? Good, lets continue. FFX-2 starts off about 2 years after the end of the first, and Spira has changed a lot. Many have stated the game has this bizarre Charlie's Angels feel to it, and I too was deeply put off by the game when I first played it. The combat system was different, the mood was different, and the music was completely off the wall. However, the deeper I got into the game, the more I wanted to finish it. The personalities of Yuna, Rikku, and Paine became friends to me. I began to actually care about what happened to them. Also, there were so many references to the first game, and hints of a reunion of sorts became the dangling carrot that was just out of reach. Everything about the game grew on me, and I now find the battle system even more enjoyable than the first. The mission-based play worked well for this RPG. Honestly, what could the game developers do? Force you to explore Spira all over again on foot? That wouldn't make sense. In the end, after I completed the game and saw every storyline there was to see, I looked back and realized that this game was perfection. From the beginning mission in Luca, to the pits of Trema's dungeon, I loved every single moment. Upon seeing the 100% ending, I was actually weeping, thats how moving it is. FFX-2 brings the story full circle, and a gives the dedicated player a fitting way to end this series.

This game sucks

I thought the first ffx sucked but now I have seen the worst. If a game has a crappy story then it is no good. You only play as three characters. Yuna is no where near as good as she was in the first game. All this is about is Yuna looking for her boyfriend. Also, graphics are NOT everything. The game's story sucks, just like the first one. If you want to buy a real final fantasy buy ffvii.

The Best FFX Out there

I just played the demo from the Playstation magazine DVD. The battle system has a different feel... It's much FASTER while retaining the easy-to-use battle menu interface! It's also added light action-oriented overworld features like climbing and jumping (just hold the "O" key and it does it for you--no timing needed). The epilog/prolog "Eternal Calm" gets you right back into the game - pulling for the incredible end to FFX and linking you into the action of FFX-2. The change outfit effects are amazing--but will be interesting to see if they get old after the 3-millionth change??? Anyway, the game has all the good qualities of FFX with a whole new set of its own!

Almost better than 10

A pretty good game, but not the best

Its a pretty cool sequel to the first game, but comes no where near the quality of the first game. The different dresses the girls get to wear was a really cool idea, but the game bordered along the cheesy lines. They added pop music into the game where it does not belong. They even have Yuna singing some crap pop song in the middle of the game. And like other reviews have said, its way to difficult to get 100% completion. Especially for a game thats not the best anyway. I played through it the first time and when I got to the end of it I realized I only had 25% completed. If you don't go a certain way and do certain things, you miss half the game. But how are you suppose to know to do those certain things unless you follow the guide page for page. I went through it the first time without a guide and ended up missing over half the game. Check out Final Fantasy X if you want a good game. That game blew my mind. After playing through the first game it will help make the second one a semi enjoyable experience...
