Hopefully with BG:DA2 they've improved the few flaws that BG:DA had... namely the playtime, overwhelming numbers of monsters you had to fight, lack of a good storyline and nowhere near enough sidequests... though i did love the pure hack and slash mentality of the first game...
overall a good game with a few flaws that SHOULD and better be fixed in the sequel... looking forward to it... but will always prefer BG on the pc

Sorry to break it to you guys, but the reviews are out.

First of all, I have no opinion. I have never played the first one and was never planning to get the second. I am merely here to lay down the facts. I got an issue of a game magazine and there was a review of this game- they normally get it prereleased. The game, apparently, was a true disappointment. Not only was it exactly like the last one, but it was apparently very repetitive and exactly like the last game. I heard the first one was great, but supposedly the second one is kind of a bummer. Hey, they could be wrong, but considering that three professionals reviewed it, I wouldn't really think so. For people who maybe played the first one, they could give this a look. Sorry, I have no opinion here, but I'm just laying down the facts for all of you to see.

Yessssssss!!! Finally

I can't wait, finally a good co-op game. Co-ops are few and far on the PS2 so I am very excited about this one. The first one was incredible, although it lacked in story, the gameplay overall was very compelling. If the second one is indeed similar to the first, I will not complain. if you are into co-ops to play with friends of the opposite sex or the same, I highly recomend picking this one up!!

To new to know, but still sounds promising

Lets consider what is being said about this game: 80+hours of play. twice the levels, quests, and side quests(or more) of the first one. 5 characters, not 3. Animation that goes beyond the wonderful details and quality of the first. The ability to create new and powerful items and weapons, and use parts from the ones you find, or to buy parts.
Play Magazine (Hey, I like to site my sources) has done a wonderful job covering it past issues, giving it a B+ on review (pretty high for them), and the reviews from other game magazines (Gamers, IGN, OPM) sound favorable too. Yeah, its going to be like the first one... its a sequel, set in the same place. HOWEVER, If you liked the first, and you know the first, dont worry... the second sounds like it is as good, if not better. (4 stars because the first one was good, and this one isnt released yet.)

I must say I'm looking foward to this game, since I found the first to be so much fun. Normally I don't rate items, especially ones I haven't seen yet, but since there are people out there that are giving this game a bad review for no reason I thought I'd try to level out the ratings some. That and the last person to write a review forgot to pick how many stars this game rates, and since they sounded so enthusiastic I thought I'd give this game 5 stars to make up for their 0 stars.

BGDA2 - can't wait

My purchase of the first BGDA game was a complete impulse buy but it turned out to be the best game I've purchased so far. It was great fun to play, especially in 2-player mode. It's also nice to find a game that doesn't require you to become good friends with the instruction book before you start. The controls are easy to pick up and the mechanics of the game become pretty straightforward once you play. As for the reviews that say it lacks a good story, this game likely won't satisfy those craving a long, more involved plotline similar to Final Fantasy games. But if you're looking for a game that's straight up fun to play and doesn't require too much thought, BGDA 1 & 2 are winners. Personally, I found it comforting to play a game that didn't take itself too seriously (you'll get a laugh poking fun at some of the characters you meet and talk with along the way). So, 5 stars of looking forward to the same enjoyment in the sequel as the original.

I too subscribe to a couple of game magazines and both
of those rated Baldur's Gate 2 highly. For
those fans who are awaiting the sequel, do not loose
hope. The reviews are not so poor as the last reviewer
has indicated. On with the saga!

Im just supporting the last review, I believe the guy forgot to rate it. But anyway, I've seen screen shots, videos, and seems to be lot better than BG1, which is the best "Diablo-like" game on PS2....

Much Anticipated sequel

The original Baldur's Gate is an incredible Play Station experience. Superb graphics, addictive gameplay. A little short (finished it in a week-end)... but was still a completely satisfying and immersive experience.

From screen shots I've seen, looks like BG2 will not disappoint.
