Im just supporting the last review, I believe the guy forgot to rate it. But anyway, I've seen screen shots, videos, and seems to be lot better than BG1, which is the best "Diablo-like" game on PS2....
Too short of a great game

Too Short!!! However, a fantastic playing game. Left me wanting at least four times the length of play if not more. I was never bored and immediately was involved in play. Just when I built my character up satisfyingly powerful, the game ended when I thought for sure it would continue on. The D&D gameplay was VERY satisfactory which old role players are sure to like. Even encountered some EXTREMELY cool monsters I could not name, but remembered from the "Monster Guide", and were rarely encountered in "Modules". However, I feel in order for Baldur's Gate to continue to succeed, it will need to branch out creatively from the 3rd edition D&D rules and become self-creative. Although it is nice for D&Ders to relive or live the experience, many already know all the rules, and could become a bit bored with recognition of facts as I did. Something else very limiting to the imagination of the game was the fact that all magic encountered had to be created or was created from a limited list of gems (but the shortness of the game handles that), no other magic items can be found. Big monster boss fights lacked a real strategy. Also, interaction with other people, or creatures, is extremely limited, there is not much dialog to be had. Nor much decision making is involved. The graphics and play ARE well done. I liked this game very much but wanted a byte more.

.
baldur's gate 1 was a solid game. breath.takingly short, but solid.
.
bg2 doesn't screw w/ a working formula and adds just enough innovation to keep things fresh. more characters. more areas. custom gear. a pair of un.lockables. and praise.the.powers.that.be, more game.play.
.
bg2 isn't ground.breaking. it doesn't have to be. you know what you are getting w/ bg2, and you aren't disappointed.
.
this game may even rate on the purchase level. there is a great deal of content. yes, it can be painfully numbing, but there are enough save points in the game that whenever it becomes tedious you can simply save.n.go.
.
very solid game. well worth a rental price, and perhaps containing enough content to make it a game you should consider purchasing.
Another success by Vivendi

The Baldur's gate sequel absolutely lived up to its name in both graphical quality and sticking to the true Forgotten Realms roots. The game's graphics haven't really developed more from the last game, but they are a fresh look and not something hastily rehashed and thrown together in five minutes. The same wonderful musical score rings out in the entire game, and the characters are just as approachable and hilarious as before (the female drow in the tavern is exceptionally humorous, provided you aren't the monk), and there are many more to associate with and interact. A downside to the game is that you only get to deal with one weapons merchant and one focal city in this game (in the first Baldur's gate, you were only really in Baldur's gate for the first short chapter). However, the makers reconciled this by adding in a sort of "mercenary" mode where your "adventurer" goes around and completes certain quests for experience points and money. This allows free reign of the country and keeps the game fresh as there are several people who will give you different quests.
The villains are far more numerous in this game, and you can expect several times more boss fights than the first one. However, the creators also moderated this by making the bosses far less difficult to defeat (though not to make it too easy). The only true qualm about this game is that there still is no real customization of the characters you play. Different character classes have to be specific genders. Barbarians, thieves, and evil sorcerors all have to be men (and paints a bitter picture about the male sex as well), while women are confined to the religious roles of monks and clerics. Also, race cannot be controlled in that, if you want to be a thief, you also have to be a dwarf, and if you want to be a cleric, you have to be human. Though only a small problem, this does detract from the overall success of the work, though not enough to seriously downgrade the game. Overall, the game is a wonderful accomplishment in that, though the creators didn't do anything terribly new, they revamped the series and gave it a fresh new feel.

It was an awesome first game, but the second didn't have as much action. The graphics were sweet, as well as the levels. DA2 had some fun stuff, and I keep playing it. I have to recimend playing with another person, it's more fun and a lot quicker, inless the other is an unexperenced gamer. You should pick it up.

I must say I'm looking foward to this game, since I found the first to be so much fun. Normally I don't rate items, especially ones I haven't seen yet, but since there are people out there that are giving this game a bad review for no reason I thought I'd try to level out the ratings some. That and the last person to write a review forgot to pick how many stars this game rates, and since they sounded so enthusiastic I thought I'd give this game 5 stars to make up for their 0 stars.

This game is reallly boring and there is nothing new or revolutionary about it. The spells are mediocore and the gameplay is hack & slash.
Not a true RPG!

This one didn't have as good of a storyline as the first. It didn't seem to be as hard as the first one either. It felt to me that it didn't expand very far level wise. The graphics were awsome and being able to customize weapons was great. But, you are not able to get weapons that do as much as 120&140 except on a critical hit. Being able to pick from five characters instead of three was a plus. Over all it just wasn't as good as the first.
