Awesome gameplay (even better than the first one)!!!

This game, unbelievably, outshines its predecessor! The graphics are great. The story line and character selection....awesome! Even though you are provided with a base attack weapon and armor...blah blah blah... you can upgrade everything! BUY THIS GAME!!!!!!!

Great game!

One of the best parts of this game is the weapon creation system. It has 10 types of gems to put in swords and combining them to make speical effects can be pretty awesome.I strongly recommend this game to Hack n' Slash lovers, because in my opinion it is the best one ever!

Beware

I rated this game as follows: the graphics are great, compared to the 1st one, the story line isn't too bad, but, on a scale of 1-10, the aggravation level leans towards a 7 or 8, due to the boss, Mordoc, is annoyingly impossible to harm. You think you have managed to inflict some damage on him, and he turns around and gains it all back. Until someone explains how in the world you can beat him the 2nd time, I'm putting thsi game to the side and playing something with less of an aggravation level, like Donkey Kong.
I would still recommend it, though.

Not As Good As The 1st!

I would have to say that I was somewhat disapointed with this sequel to a great game. I was not that impressed with the graphics or the gameplay. The gameplay was your standard hack and slash fare, nothing outstanding there. I didn't like the lack of choice with the characters available ie. you can't pick a race or a class that you want. If you pick the female drow, she MUST be a monk, and she can't be anything else. I had more options in Champions of Norath which I must say is a far better game. Also the last boss Mordoc is nearly impossible to defeat depending on which character you pick. It's a good idea to rent this game first before purchasing it.

A bit better than the first

Like my headline says, the only problems are little glitches and it sometimes gets too repetitive. It's also hard to switch to different spells. If they had added a few more innovations than I would have given this game five stars but they didn't add on to the game too much.

BGDA2 - can't wait

My purchase of the first BGDA game was a complete impulse buy but it turned out to be the best game I've purchased so far. It was great fun to play, especially in 2-player mode. It's also nice to find a game that doesn't require you to become good friends with the instruction book before you start. The controls are easy to pick up and the mechanics of the game become pretty straightforward once you play. As for the reviews that say it lacks a good story, this game likely won't satisfy those craving a long, more involved plotline similar to Final Fantasy games. But if you're looking for a game that's straight up fun to play and doesn't require too much thought, BGDA 1 & 2 are winners. Personally, I found it comforting to play a game that didn't take itself too seriously (you'll get a laugh poking fun at some of the characters you meet and talk with along the way). So, 5 stars of looking forward to the same enjoyment in the sequel as the original.

It was fun, but at the same time too easy to beat. The graphics were fantastic. The strategy just was not difficult enough.

IN A TWO WAY TIE FOR MY FAVORITE PS2 RPG!

This game and the two champions of norrath games are my favorite PS2 RPGs. Everything about this game is awesome except for the limited number of character choices at the beginning of the game. I would have liked to have been able to choose from several races, male or female, and then select a class/profession from several choices, instead of the cookie cutter pre-made choices available to you. I would have liked to have been able to cutomize my toons name and at least his/her facial features also. This is the only area in this game that lacks. The awesome item creation/customization totally rocks though. If you could combine the better character selection/customization of the two champions games with the item creation/customization of this game, and retain all of the other good stuff, you would have the ultimate RPG.

5 star game with a 1 star ending boss

I had a great time playing this game right up until the end. I ended up at 24th level with not much upgraded equipment due to rust monsters. Even worse I cannot go back to other areas and build my character up more so that I can be more powerful against the last boss now that I reached him. Why does every game writer decide that a game can be fun right up until the end where you must include a highly annoying hard to beat boss! You have to fight the same battle numerous times until you find the trick or get lucky enough to beat him. Actually I can't even beat the final boss with the invulnerability cheat turned on! I am looking for a game that is fun to play to the end!

campaign length does not equal moneys worth

I feel sorry for anyone who has spent more than ten dollars on this game. I purchased it for 8.98 at Toys 'R' Us. Basically a dollar for every hour of campaign time I got out of it.

I'm a huge rpg, particularly forgotten realms fantasy fan, and I was sorely dissapointed in this game. While, the story is missing in detail, the adventuring is fun, heavy hack n slash type, very little to no RP at all. The ending was just that, an ending, a real let down. We went through this game tooth and nail, making sure to uncover every stone, secret and bad guy and it still only took me 8 and a half hours to beat. I was really dissapointed. Just when we thought there was going to be a spectacular plot twist and the game was really going to start kicking, it just ended, promising yet 'another installment' in the Baldurs Gate series. Honestly, instead of purchasing the next game, I'll just pass. I just can't justify paying new game prices for what amounts to the time you would get out of a free community expansion.

If you want to purchase an RPG, save your money and put it towards the NWN platinum pack for the PC. Now there you can waste the hours away!!!
