Let's get to the point....

Okay, if you're reading this you must be considering to buy this game. I'm not going to go into all this technical stuff cause everyone has pretty much covered it. For the price right now, it's really cheap and worth it. If you're a fan of shooters, get this game. It's up there with Counter-strike and they are both good games in a different way. Even if you don't play online or have a slow connection, the bots are amazingly realistic and fun. Even playing the solo tournaments are fun cause they give you different challenges. I highly recommend this game and it's money well spent!

I have what some would call a totally unbalanced machine: DSL, Voodoo 5, 20 GB Hard Drive, 300 MHz processor. It is the last item in the list that really counts. Current games require a 200-300 MHz processor. REQUIRE. That means you can run them on a machine like mine, but to actually run them to their full extent, a computer with a 500-700 MHz porcessor is needed. This applies to most games, including Unreal Tournament. There are some other factors that can improve performance, such as video cards and video memory. I have an extremely good video card: Voodoo 5. This runs well with all of the games that I own. The video card matters, but not much (I used to run on an ATI Rage II). Since I have this odd computer, I recieve slowdowns, freezes, and timeouts. A "slowdown" is a jumpy effect, almost like a bad stop-action (claymation) film. A "freeze" is this: when I run into battle, my screen literally freezes for 5-10 seconds (along with my character), and after I return to normal play, I am DEAD. =). A "timeout" (my definition may not be the real one) is me getting disconnected from a game because my processor cannot process all of the game info needed to run a large multiplayer game. You should only get this product if your computer is up to it. You need a good video card, a good hard drive, a good CD-ROM, a good modem (DSL, cable, T1, or T3 is preferred), and especially a good processor (over 500-600 MHz).\

Now, if your computer does not reach the previous requirements, get Quake III: Arena. It is almost the same thing but with less weapons. They both have horrible single player, but you should think of those missions as training for multiplayer. The reason I suggest Q3A is because it has almost no slowdowns. Even If your computer meets or surpasses the requirements for UT, get Q3A also. Trust me.

This is THE GAME to get if you like deathmatch, capture the flag, or team deathmatch. Combined with it's two extra modes of gameplay and the 300+ mutators on the web, there are almost endless possibilities of combat. The only downside to the game is that it requires a hefty system to run it well. Anything less than a 700 megahertz computer with a TNT chipset card will expect to see framerates of around 15. Still, buy it and play it like it's one of your offspring.

A Great Game With Friends, And Even Alone!

This game is GREAT. The modes of play that are included with it are all very fun, but one of them really sticks out in my mind: Assault. This mode takes the mission based objectives of a good single-player FPS game, and combines them with the fun of multi-player mayhem! On top of the modes of play, there are mutators that you can add to your game, which modify certain aspects. Things such as low gravity, one hit kills, high-jumping, etc. The level of customization continues even more with the immense amount of mods available on the internet for this game. The weapons are quite original as well. They each have two functions, so there is a variety of ways to rack up those frags! On top of all this, the AI is superb as well! They can put up a truly tough fight when you adjust them to some of the higher levels of difficulty! But the main sell of this game is its multiplayer mode. You can choose to play either on the internet, or your LAN. I found that getting into an online game was INCREDIBLY easy! It can all be done through the game window, and you don't have to sign up with any web sites! So, if you don't have this game, then get it now!

Superb Design, Flawless Gameplay - An Instant Classic

This is, simply put, a miraculous feat of game design. No other game is nearly as immersive, nor realistic, as this. No other game has nearly as many gameplay options, is as customizable, or even as damn fun as this one. Except for maybe Counter-Strike. It's a tough call really, but this game wins hands down over all others in its genre in graphics and sound alone.

First of all, the weapons and player models. There are 10 weapons (if I remember correctly), each very unique and each with a secondary function, so in effect you have 20 weapons, plus a teleporter that lets you jump anywhere you can shoot the thing. They are furistically real, and the explosions and blasts that come out of them look beautiful on a good system. The minigun, one of my favorites, has tracer bullets, a very subtle yet very excellent addition to this game. It adds to the realism. The very, very fun "Redeemer," a miniature nuke, is a very well done weapon that lets you fly a missile around the map and blast opponents in a terrific shockwave of carnage. The "missile cam" is my personal favorite way to guide it.

Player models are exquisite. You have the ability to taunt your opponents with phrases or body motions, and movement is smooth and--for the most part--realistic as well. You can customize your player "skin" by color or by type, and these range from the usual soldier to funny, two-legged aliens.

The maps are another thing. There are a lot of them, and the packaged map editor lets you make new ones in a snap. Lighting and ambient sounds pull you into the action. The various types of gameplay, including deathmatch, capture the flag, domination (where you have to control certain locations to gain points for your team), and assault (take a critical point by assaulting a base in a certain amount of time) expand the potential of this game, so that if you get tired of mindless killing, you can join a CTF game for a more intellectual game.

In short, the graphics, unique weapons and maps, sound, and customization make this the must have game for all gamers.

this game is well worth the price. You can edit levels and make your own. If you are smart enough you can make your own character i do... It has great gameplay with good controls and graphics (if you have a good graphic card). It is fast paced in your face action. I play it everynight and it is very addictive and sinfully addictive. Get this game you will enjoy it very much and most definitly enjoy the online gaming it's even better

What a game! the graphic are just so life like and realistic. I played both this and Half Life and this came on top by far, it was just so much more superior in all ways. The settings are so imaginary. Also the weapons are all real life weapons which makes it even more realistic. By having real weapons you know what they can do so know what they are capable of. But one thing to do is to try in on God Mode and get back to me if you can do it! Its well hard but the good thing about the levels is that there are so many different skill levels to choose from. So you can start off playing against weaker players and when you get better you can test your ability to a much more challenging game! If you have the internet then play it on there, its great but very surprising of how many people are on it all the time so there are hundreds of people to play against and hundreds of different games and types to choose from. If you have friends that also have the game then you can even play on the internet against them, which is a great laugh. The controls and game play are very easy to handle, you can get used to them within minutes. And to top it all you cannot stop playing it and have to get to the next level. I would advise you to get it if you like that sort of games because you will love it like i do!

This game is really really really good. You will love it. You don't like gore? Turn the gore level off. Simple as that. This is as good as Tournament deathmatch games get. I'm telling you, its that fun. You can download many great mods for it also! If your friends own it, give em a call! Its fun to play in games with your friends. This game features a story mode like setting, where you are a character in a Tournament. You know etc etc. Theres a training function that pits you against bots. Very good for boosting up your abilities and making you better. And of course, online play. Don't think, just buy!

Unreal Tournament > Quake 3

Quake 3 just can not compare to Unreal Tournament. This game is the king of shooter games. Why? It just all works together. The levels go in so many variations from running through caves, to being in a street alley, to jumping rooftops of skyscrapers. The guns are great, esp with their secondary fire feature. The use of color/detail is very vivid, and not bland/dark like Quake 3. The background music is amazing, and the graphics are smooth and crisp. Not to mention this game has an excellent bot feature, and has more than just deathmatch. We have all played capture the flag, but also domination where your team tries to rack up the most points, and assault where one team attacks the base, one team defends the base. Best game I own now. Out.
